6. Does this IPL jokers have any concerns for common man and what this IPL will give in return to common man who still lives in utter poverty?
7. According to an estimation per IPL match 5000 crores of rupees in involved in illeagal betting
8. can u please clarify what good is IPL doing for a common man who still struggle to survive in this so called DEVELOPING COUNTRY?
9. 1750 crore invested to buy a team? Can govt seek clarification from this Co how this Co made this much money in white?

Buddy, your arguments are silly to the say the least and it only shows envy and anger at cricket being the most popular sport in india. Now, can u close down the innumerable tv channels which show endless tv serials, ban cinemas, theatres, music shows, ban other sports etc which are nothing but pure entertainment? Again, the teams are bought by the franchisees which are invariably big companies and bollywood stars who have money in plenty. Further, they file their returns and u think the government would keep quiet if they feel it is black money? By the way, I am a Chartered accountant myself and my kids maintain a dicipline in their studies, are doing well as they study when they need to and watch cricket when free. It is a question of maintaining a dicipline and have a priority in what u do.

BCCI is a private organization
by R on Apr 10, 2010 04:49 AM

BCCI is private body. I wonder where all the money collected by IPL and BCCI goes. BCCI is richest sports body in the world and can easily address poverty of India. But all the money collected is pocketed by few individuals. It is a scam of highest order.

How can BCCI use India. When there are test matches, it is BCCI playing against England, Sri Lanka, etc and not India playing against these countries. India should auction the word "India" and anyone can purchase and use "India" when playing test matches. It could be Reliance, Tata or anyone. The money thus collected by Government can easily remove poverty of India.

Grow up man.........
We are now going global with this "Indian" premier league and INDIA should be proud of that rather than showing our pathetic attitude towards development. Sports ministry headed by some Mr. Gill is not even capable of holding a local kho kho or kabaddi tournament and we have this Indian Premier league, which attracts almost all best talent in world cricket except a very few egoistic Australians and our local boys like Vinay Kumar, Shadab Jakati, Ashoke Dinda and so on to rub shoulders with them. This is not a small thing. It's really BIG. Perhaps next to English Premier League and UEFA Champions League. This Gills and Kalmadis can't do anything and don't want anybody to do anything. They don't get any money out of IPL, so they create controvesy by their stupid statements. Who cares?????? Enjoy the SECOND most beautiful game of this planet. Whoa!!!!!!! Well Said man.

If you think this is cocaine then ban all sports, music, bollywood, hollywood, arts, literature and anything which is not of materialistic value.
You must have a gene of AURANGZEB in u. Everybody knows value of their own time including kids. People like u, Mr. MS Gill, Suresh Kalmadi create these petty issues just to get noticed. Rather than wasting any more time, make some effort to do something even .0000001% creative than IPL and comment afterwards. Freedom of expression doesn't mean you can say anything. This is something which our nation needed for long to know our potential and we've realized that we can stand anywhere. Poverty is everywhere in the world. But development doesn't stop. Even a few underprivileged will get inspired and make it big in future. People like u never make an effort to go past the line and never appreciate if someone goes past. Feel sorry for yourself. You've got rest of your life to make amends. At least try and prove you are an INDIAN. Otherwise, your life is a waste and is just a number among the Billion

1750 crores and 1533 crores to buy 2 teams of IPL..with this much money how many poor Indians would have earned Roti, kappade or makhan for their whole life and even their generations. Still people are dying in my country without basic needs for what good things are these people paying millions of dollars to foreign players to fill a stomach which is already over filled? Do they have minimum ethics to live their life like this?

Not an Issue
by Ujjawal Verma on Apr 09, 2010 10:01 PM  | Hide replies

I dont think it as an issue. Had the DLF logo contained an Indian flag then it might have been a serious issue. But having just the name India on it is okay. As we have several names for our country - Bharat, Hindustan, Aryavart, etc. But our representation is only one and that is our Indian tricolor. We should make sure we never allow anyone to disregard our national flag in that way. But the way DLF is using India in its logo seems Okay to me. After DLF is a construction company and Building India isnt at all objectionable.

Using name of our country is not wrong, but using it for filthy commercial advantange is wrong.

Frankly speaking DLF( Delhi Leasing & Finance) has build only Gurgaon. So, they should use the word Building Gurgaon instead. :-)

Dignity and pride
by sanjeev sharma on Apr 09, 2010 08:05 PM

Though it may sound very extremist and political, but, if a nation supports voilence and terrorism, like Pakistan. Then being Indian my heart does weep for the ones who are laying down their lives so that we all are protected. Then how come i have an affair with our enemy. As citizens being i agree we are divided by dirty politics, but, atleast i should have that stubborness that until everything is alright i can not sleep with my enemy.

Keep everybody happy
by amlan sarma on Apr 09, 2010 08:02 PM

IPL is great hit. There is no doubt about it.My question is that why Government of India allowed DLF to use "Building India" punchline/slogan. Now why government complaining? Companies will definitely use their Logo/Slogan at best visible areas. Actually our Government always works like this .There is no co-ordination between its own departments. So in my opinion DLF should stop using their "Building India" slogan in the field area.It will keep everybody happy and IPL will keep rocking.
