Favourites
by Ravi on Apr 06, 2010 05:11 PM

'Favourites' is nice euphimism.

Srikanth's favourites, Gavaskar's favourites, Vengsarkar's favourites, ....

There was a long period in Indian cricket when the only way to get in Indian team was if you are a Mumbaikar. Mumbai was the cricketing capital, not because of the talent it produced (or not produced), but because of the people who mattered, were there, there!

Krish has his preference he has every right to choose and also the responsibility for his selection. He is one of few selectors (the only BCCI selector) who has accepted an error in selection when we lost a match and corrcted it before the next loss.

And yes the likes of Murali Vijay, R.Sharma, P.Ohja are doing the rounds because some one in the first place selected them.

Lets do away with the regionalism for once and let the MEN do their work.

problems ahead
by siddharth khosla on Apr 06, 2010 04:27 PM

I was very sure that Rohit will not be able to finish it for his team & he proved me right. I think selectors messed up big time by picking him rather than Saurabh Tiwary or Uthappa
Mind you, Murali Vijay was disappointing till the time team was being selected otherwise he would have made it easily as he's also Srikanth's favorites.
Anyways, selectors have never given in-form / promising guys any chance so how could they be different this time.
Another frightening thing was Yusuf's weakness was well discovered and am sure all sides will employ the good-length/ body rising ball to dislodge him. let's hope that he overcomes this shortcoming quickly.
Moral of the write up is that India might well and truly repeat it's performance of 2009 T20 world cup.

TEAM WORK

Rajsthan Royals plays like a unit. You would always see them, giving there 100%.And after return back of SHANE WATSON they are the tough CONTENDORS of IPL.Ive seen that Domestic Cricketers are performing well in MI & RR. whereas Other teams are concentrating more on Foreign players like DC is totally dependent on GILLY,GIBBS & SYMONDS.Apart from ROHIT SHARMA & RP SINGH(both are in national SQUAD), there is not a significant contribution.

Musings

I am not a strong supporter of either RR or DC.

So the result doesn't bother me the least.

But there are certain questions I have about the role of coaches, captains and senior players IN GENERAL. The following questions relate to DC players yesterday, but in my view represent the typical questions that need to be addressed by any cricket team anywhere.

1. When Gilchrist was playing the big shots and getting the runs for the team, what was the need for VVS to play a shot too early, get out and put the team under pressure?

2. When VVS was gone, what was the need for Gilly to play one shot too many and shoot himself (his team?) in his foot?

3. Why a renowned big hitter like Symonds cannot even keep taking singles and rotate strike with Rohit Sharma? Is 15 runs from 20 balls a good T20 innings from a player like Symmo?

4. What noble objective was achieved by team management by replacing Suman and Venugopal Rao with Bhilakia and Anirudh Singh in such a crucial match?

5. When only 6 runs were required from 6 balls of the last over, why on earth should Rohit Sharma take a single off the first ball and leave R P Singh at the batting end? When Rohit did this mistake, why on earth should Singh try big shots and waste valuable deliveries instead of trying to take a single and give back strike to Rohit?

I believe that actual match situations like this need more discussions and solutions from the coach than advising people to "stick to basics, pla

When a team is not playing well together and the team and team management morale is low, such things happen even at an international level.
Any fan of that particular team has every right to be disappointed about that.
Whatever points you have mentioned are not happening for the first time in the history of cricket.
Even such silly things we do in our life when we are depressed, and though match-fixing may exist, if we blame everything lacking common sense as match fixing like shreevatsa K has done, then i think our life events are also fixed :-).

These things are natural and bound to happen. It is not a ROBOTIC game. There is always scope for human errors.Did you remember KLUSNER & the World Cup Semis.

Disconnected Chargers
by nice guy on Apr 06, 2010 12:31 AM  | Hide replies

Deccan chargers-gone guys!
They are definitely charged out! A lacklustre performance from an inconsistent team-wonder how they won the ipl2-had it been conducted in India-they would have finished last. This team does not have the killer instinct. Team composition is horrible-bilakia-galakia,anirudh-harmeet-boy..there r lot more talented guys in andhra-why dont u pick them?
And why the hell did they left out Gibbs-who is in gud form? DC is a team that is only dependant on gilly and rohit-if one of them fail-they r gone!!
and Warney-Boy-wat a player he is-sensational
DC lose 3 out of 5 games remaining and go home.
Team name should be changed as above.

They might not be the most talented team, they may not win everything, but they are a team that never gives up. Whenever there is a close match, its the Royals who win.

VVS and symonds unfit
by ReadWrite on Apr 06, 2010 12:00 AM

Very bad game from DC point of view. There was no excuse, it was small total, should have won easily.

Why VVS Laxman in the team? Symonds look very edgy.

now DC is a very weaker side.
