Missing DADA

I think India is lacking captaincy scills. Without the success in the t20 wold cup (with the help of yubi and ghambhir), India has performed shamefully in all the big tournaments. But it,s a fact that under the captaincy of Saurav Ganguly,(many of you may forget him)
we at least reached to the final of every big tournaments.

India Should have Selected Pragyan Ojha
by sen sun on Sep 30, 2009 12:55 PM  | Hide replies

With the limited opportunities he had with the Indian team he Proved his worth much. Look at his stats. Pragyan Ojha - Matches: 9, Average:28.00, Economy: 4.20, SR: 40.0.

Harbhajan Singh is really poor in ODI.
Harbhajan Singh       - Matches: 194 Average: 33.18 Economy: 4.28 SR: 46.5

If India should Shine we need to have a Quality Spinner.

Dear sen sen

The biggest SIN that Ojha committed was to SPIN. Yes SPIN the ball.

Anybody who performs extremely well in India will be immediately dropped from team , IF and WHENEVER a big cricket tournament like Champions trophy or World Cup happens. We always are of the opinion that OLDIE, GOLDIE players who have been playing for 10 to 15 years will deliver, no matter if they haven't succeeded in current matches or recent past also. Their performance 3 or 5 years back will win them a place in team, whereas youngsters with recent or latest performances (Pragyan Ojha bowled so beautifully and also helped his team win IPL recently and also showed great hope and guile in whatever little chance he got for India) was dropped for this major tournament.

What to do. We are like this only. Oldies will never move out of team and never give youngsters a chance to play.

I feel for this Pragyan Ojha, upcoming spinner.

I think it's too early to compare Harbhajan with Ojha who has played only 9 matches. Bhajji is a quality spinner and match winner. You should remember the Compaq cup final. Where he had guided us to victory. so please keep faith on him.

We don't need a Bowler playing well once in a blue moon. his last 5 for came long ago as 3 years. and in between his performance is worst. Can u tell a occasion where he succeed previously before Compaq cup final. I am not comparing and i want to give more chances to P.Oiha to see his performance is better than Harbhajan. of course we need him Tests but I am talking abt ODI.

DHONI -HARBAJAN NEED TO PERFORM OR GET OUT
by shobha on Sep 30, 2009 12:53 PM

Only poor performers are Dhoni as captain and his bat. Harbajan's very poor bowling in terms of taking wicket and giving run has costed the first game and too against Australia. Rain saved and now there is 30% hope now. High time to rest Harbajan and Dhoni too

the team composition
by mohit Gupta on Sep 30, 2009 12:19 PM  | Hide replies

Indian team for today's game should be:

1. Gambhir
2. Praven Kumar
3. Rahul Dravid
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. S. Raina
6. MS. Dhoni
7. Yusuf pathan
8. Abhishek Nayar
9. Amit Mishra
10. Harbhajan Singh
11. Ashish Nehra

India should sent their batsman in this order only.

Mohit, If batsmen are sent in this order, 100% it is sure that Team India wont cross 200 in 50 overs. Dravid will make Gambhir frustrated by eating more deliveries, and Gambhir wil be out. Then Sachin wil be out by him. Finally he will score fantastic 80 off 150 balls ( with good strike rate of 55 )

Bravo, Well said!! You are one of the few guys who has the courage to state the obvious, but few people are willing to say it because of Dravid's test stats. But remember, his career ODI SR is 71, easily the slowest Indian batsman and one of the slowest in the world. A lot of batsmen can anchor the innings by taking zero risks, batting in the top 3, wasting the Power Plays by maintaining a SR of under 70, putting all the scoring pressure on his partners, and scoring 50 runs at a SR of 70 - that is the modus operandi of Dravid! More often than not, India loses in these situations. India's captain should stop this nonsense - Dhoni's winning streak has occured without Dravid in the side - we certainly don't need this guy in the 2011 WC! Here are some of the reasons: He is already 36 , is a poor runner between the wickets, bats selfishly, is one of the slowest batsmen in the world, cannot throw from the deep, and cannot bowl.

u poo peoples, if dravid not stand in the wicket india will score only 100 runs.you all guys dont know about 50 overs cricket. u r talking about the rare performers like raina , dhoni, yusuf. dravid performs well consistently. there is no age limit for cricket. only indians are talking about age limit while other success teams are considering the performance

OverConfident India.
by PURUSHOTTAM MURTHY on Sep 30, 2009 10:57 AM

Loosing first Match with Pak,is due to overconfidence,Everybody bowler-n-batsman are overconfident and arogance, even Dhoni is blind to manage Bowlers,Batsman.MOst of the matches it is seen South African Grounds are good for Bats,so the planning of Bowlers is neccessary.
Being a World no.1 Team is performing like a trial Team .
Everything is worst.India should loose with West indies also, atleast the proudy, arogance of all the Team will come down.

blaming india is not right
by Praveen on Sep 30, 2009 10:23 AM  | Hide replies

when india won compaq cup all praised dhoni and his men as greatest players and greatest team. but where is that gone now. we have lost match to pak - i accept. but we dint fail so poorly. we tried our level best and could not achieve. in second match it is not that aus would have trashed us. may be india could have proved their side with batting gud and could have won the match. since this is a knock out tournament nothing can be done for losses. if same indian team would have win the pak match we wud have said that india is a great team and dhoni and his men performed well. i would we ppl are not true supporters of the team.

Good comment. We lost only one match and team has become poor for Indian media and people. Indian team is playing well consistently but nobody can control injuries and weather. Better luck next time.

I feel the comments are not for the loss but for the lack of spirit and character. The bowling department was so weak that the batsmen were getting runs easily without any stuggle. Also, if you see the batsmen who were in poor patch like shoaib, yusuf returned to form because of our bowling. When Bhajji is called strike bowler then he should live upto the confidence of the captain and perform consistently. The consistency factor is terribly missing especially in the bowling department.

ya they have done what they could do and we have done what we can do and not the best indeed. we have to improve in the following games. i accept we dint prove our full ability but disgracing all players who have performed well in the recent past is not right. thats what i mean to say

Praveen...I agree that we people start to criticise our players when they loose a single match and start to praise when they won a match.

But the fact is that Indian Team is still not the best team of the world. For becoming the Best in the world you need to be consistent (you should have the ability to win a game which seems you are loosing)and India Team is not that consistent.

Agree...that Indian Team has improved its performance level and now they are more competetive. But if you wana to be the best and no. one team of the world then you would need to win each and every single game (Aus did this thing thats y they were on top).

And if you talk about India's CT games,

- Against pakistan, I am failed to understand that why a bowler (Bhajji-one of the best spinner in the world cricket today) wasn't able to get back in tandom in his full quota of 10 overs. It wasn't a spell of 4 overs where he had not time to get back in his rythem, 10 overs are enough to understand that where things are going wrong.

- Seeing Ishant bowling too short and wide against aussies I was wondering that why he is not able to understand that what wrong he is doing.

- If Dravid is selected for a role of sheet anchor in the team who has to hold an end so that player at other end can play his shot then I was again failed to digest when he was even not able to rotate the strike (some 73 runs in more then 100 deliveries tell all story itself). Again expecting from Dravid to score runs....

....at an asking rate of 7-8 runs per over (against pakistan) wasn't a foolish expectation when we knew that he is not capable of doing so and even if he would have done anything like this anytime in past, he would have remain in his form.

- Yusuf Pathan, who is clearly a btasman of T-20 game or a hitter who is useful in 50-50 cricket when team is well set for a big target (playing first) and whether he plays or not his fiery inning, team does not get affected too much. 50-50 over game need not only big hitting but also timing and skill to adjust your game as per the situation, which yusuf hasn't at all at least in his batting.

Honestly, I will feel more shamefull then proud if India makke it to CT semis and then wins the trophy with pakistam defeating australia today.
