The openers got it right
by chacko v on Sep 28, 2009 12:04 PM

New Zealand have a perenial problem. They are unable to find a top order batsman who can bat for a reasonably long time. In this match the openers gave them a 100 start & that set the tone for their match winning score.

Sl still has a chance?
by naveen dhanerwal on Sep 28, 2009 11:20 AM  | Hide replies

What are they saying that SL still has a chance to make semi final? I think New Zealand and England are through to semi finals! Bothe the teams have won two macth and both SA and SL have lost tow matches. then this group is closed!

If India has to win

Dravid should refrain from batting after 20 overs. Ask him to get retired hurt or use a runner for Dravid. Bring in one more left-handed batsman. Maintain the left-right combination upto 35 overs. Promote raina.

Tendulkar should only play if India wins the toss so that he can bat full 50 overs and score a century and his mad supporters can enjoy. This guy is a disaster while chasing good totals

Biggest disaster for Indian cricket is dhoni who is overhyped for nothing.
Sachin has performed atleast 60% times.

this is a dum8 response to a good observation. Sachin has been one off player in chasing totals. Its only that he is sung so much that most of his poor outings are hidden by a very few good outings. "Silence his critics ... " is the term often used for such players, but ever wondered why did critics speak at the first place. Most of us always discount his wicket in a good chase and look to other players to do it, whatever he scores is a bonus thus. he is a great player to bat first but very ordinary chasing player.
It's also quite funny when people say he is weighed down by expectations, well to be honest he does not perform in chases for a very long time now, except for a few here and there innings so who puts those expectations except for his Maha-cronies Shastry and Gavaskar who have always worried for Maha-players than Indian players.

Like it or leave it, thats truth.

Well said Mr Vinod.
Other than sachin/dravid all players can play inning of quick 30-40 but can't win the match on their own.

Bowlers are not at fault. 300 runs are scored easily in these pitches.

What a turnaround in group B. Both the sureshot semifinalists (Srilanka/SA) are either out or in danger of out.
And we were worrying about Group A as group of death.

Today's game will be interesting
by Surya TheGreat on Sep 28, 2009 06:03 AM  | Hide replies

I think If India plays with 2 spinners and Australia without Clake will be interesting.

Everyone agrees that in last match Dhoni made a mistake of not attacking when Malik and Yousuf playing. But not every move will give you dividends. If India has to win the match tomorrow both openers should fire. With, depleted batting Sachin has to fire.

I prefer Pravin playing instead of RP Singh tomorrow.

I have never seen Dhoni so dum8 as in last match. Malik scored all his runs at the same place and still he didnt keep a fielder there.

He sure was high on grass i guess!

Your points are correct. But if you had noticed, the pitch became slower during the second half and it was the bastsmen failure that caused the defeat. I feel that Dravid should move out as he plays one dayers as if he is playing a test match.Unless you keep rotating the strike, run scoring in one day match will be difficult. I also agree that RP should be replaced with Pravin

by tim jim on Sep 28, 2009 05:53 AM

the indian cricketers are living life king size they know they will still earn from endorsements they feel they will still get a chance to show their heroics some other day then why do poor fans loose their sleep over these jokers indian people should show these superstars their place when they give interviews they depict as if they are doina favor to all of you. the truth of the matter is when indian fans support the rival teams then these jokers will be shown their place and appreciate true cricket

Sachin needs a mentor
by Sanjay M on Sep 28, 2009 01:50 AM  | Hide replies

If you are not good looking you can stay in the Team for a long time no one complains. Dinesh Karthik is a good example. Srisanth is an exception :).
The pakistani bowler who took Sachins wicket only moves the ball in one direction all the Indian cricket fans know that. Then why did Sachin not learn about the bowler prior to the match. May be Sachin needs a mentor. Even coaches are afraid to advice Sachin. He is a great player but needs a mentor.

India can win only if sachin/dravid play a big inning.
All youngsters are useless & can't win the match.
