completely agree
by Vinil Ramdev on Sep 20, 2009 12:49 PM  | Hide replies

I do agree Dravid is a class player. But we need to look into the future. A fine player like Rohit Sharma has missed out.

We need to get Raina ready before the world cup, for that he needs to bat at no 3. We need to give up short term success for long term gains.

Rahul Dravid

Dravid is a class player. Vengsarkar unceremoniously dropped him from the one day team. I am very sure he will prove the selection committee right by scoring heavily in South Africa and will be one of the backbones for Indian challenge in the world cup 2011.

Dravid is one of the best batsmen India has ever produced, who can adapt himself to the pace of the wicket as well as the situation.

Unlike Manjrekar who found it difficult to even raise his bat, Dravid can adapt to the ODI situation.

Let's not be hyper-critical about the one's who ride our hopes. Let's not forget that it was the same Manjrekar who criticised Sachin sometime back. What does he have to say now.

even he played for india people can expect much more. but luck not come for this classic players. that same can effect the rahul history. but the classic player performance not come in same level if he recalled again & again. we can except more from the youngers for the same performance.

Performance counts
by Khushi on Sep 19, 2009 01:13 PM

All said and done.. ultimately what counts is performance.. if after inclusion in the team for CT, Dravid fails to score runs, he will certainly be shown the door.. it is he who will prove if the selectors' decision was right or wrong.. so lets wait and watch

Hi Manjrakar what qualities do you have to comment on a ikon like Rahul? No way you are eligible to talk about a batting legend of Dravid's class.Pls shut your bad mouth and watch the game. I have seen you playing before but I don't remember a single match of yours. So better shuuut uuuuup &don't involve in selection matters.OK?

If Manjrekar is to be qualified for making a statement, than what about us?
And it is also true that we have short memories. In 99 world cup Manjrekar was one of the top scorers under Azhar. Manjrekar is one of the best class player who could play the pace of Pakitan and WI on their fast tracks.
Having said this, I feel sharing an opinion doesnt need huge qualifications. Even if required, Manjrekar is more qualified than all of us to talk about why Dravid is selected or not.
He was not talking about Dravid's capabilties. What he told was about not preparing for future as Dravid who has been playing well is still a player going to be retired soon. Whereas he wanted selectors to plan for buidlign another talent.

Manjrekar in 99 world cup? Good joke, and remember who was the leading run scorer in 99 world cup? Its Dravid... Friend, first get your stats right and then we can talk about dravid.

what a joke, pls make self assessment before passing comments on others, as for wasim akram he should devote more time to improve the state of affairs of paki cricket instead of virtually settling down in india and poking his nose in our affairs win but when we have people like majrekar supporting his views then what should we expect?

LOOSERS ARE GOOD CRITICS
by rumwhisky on Sep 19, 2009 11:23 AM  | Hide replies

All loosers in anyfield are good critics, the list goes on and Manjrekar/Sidhu/Saba Karim/sandeep patil etc etc. these were never a force to reckon in their playing days and now they can't digest about some others success this is INDIAN MENTALITY, pull down someone, if you can't climb, never try to climb yourselves, a shameless attitude, a cheap way to get publicity and make money

Oh God. Sandeep Patil is a loser? I think the current participants of this blog know only KapilDev of the old cricketers. Sandeep Patil was one of the important members of Indian team. He was courageous to play the likes of Denis lillee when other cricketers used to run away.

And also at Old Trafford he came up with another memorable display, hitting an undefeated 129, in the process taking 24 runs (4440444) off an over from Bob Willis - the third delivery being a no ball. Bob willis has taken 300 test wickets.
