Please do not swear at players for not being stick with the national team. They are professionals and its up to them to decide what is good for them. Even if we are working for the govt and if we get a high paying private company job offer, 90% of us will go for that. Those who don't, its because of job security. In a sport mans life, there is no such job security. If they got injured or go out of foam, no one will care for them. So, its up to them to earn as much when they can.
guys dont blindly think he wont play T20 at all.he has quit only from international t20.he will still play IPL and other domestic leagues which are more lucrative than international t20.as of now except t20 WC there is nothing interesting in t20 internationally.each series will have 1 or 2 t20s for namesake.no surprise ponting has decided to skip those
Ponting is an arrogant man but his decision to skip 20-20 is a welcome step. There is lesser fatigue for a 20-20 player than a 50-50 or test player. And it is lucrative also. How many world class players like him will take such a bold decisiomn. When the whole world is condemning test & one dayers here is a man who is indirectly supporting it.
ponting is getting more worried of himself rather then others as he will not be getting these offers & others will be minting monmey by playing 20-20 & other forms of cricket.
you wait for another 2 months & this fellow will be out of there national team ....
If more players are opting this way, then my dearest soprt will bid adiue from the world. I mean, good real cricket not the game as such. It will be 20-20, 10-10, 5-5 or even 1-1... I feel sad :(

Cricket as you know might die, Vivek. But, I guess everything evolves. If 20-20 is going to be the big thing over tests, its prob. bcoz consumer and media interest has shifted there; which is what drives everything nowadays anyways. Might not be something the purists would enjoy.

Vivek ..it was in death bed since 15 yrs or so when the boundaries started becoming shorter, tracks became flatter and the even contest btw bat and ball was lost ..in fact the beauty of the game lies in the even contest btw bat n ball ..which is not the case anymore. Thanks to Jaggu Dalmiya ..and Lalit Modi :)
