I don't see why so much noise is being made on survival of 50-50 cricket. If it fails to compete with T20 format then let it die its natural death. Why so much fuss? All these are in a way process of gradual evolution through the ages. The single biggest plus point of T20 cricket will be many new countries will start playing cricket.May be in the yr 2020, T20 WC will be organised on a scale similar to Football or Hockey WC.
With quality teams and quality pitches, I think ODIs will survive. However, teams like bangladesh, kenya etc will not help ODIs. And piches totally in favour of batsmen, pitches where winning the toss is as good as winning the match will push ODIs to extinction.
I readlly dont understand that from where this all erupted that due to 20-20 ODI has lost the craze. Its absolutely useless speculation. ODI still holds the same interest as it used to have. Truly speaking its ODI which is the actual most respected and seriously taken format of cricket, not Test. If you have to close, close Test matches. But no way ODI. ODI is the perfect balance between the super slow(Tests) and Super-fast(T20) where real calibre of a team and player comes out. In Test you can draw a match if you fear to loose it, in T-20 just one over can change the whole game no matter how good you played....but none of these factors work in ODI. ODIs are best and the real cricket.

swamy i agree with you.
but, test cricket is also required with some modification, i.e. to implement rules of ODIs and t20, like; wide calls, noball calls, free hit, bouncer limitaion, powerplay etc...... This will test more to the batsmen and bowlers....

But in recent dats the results of ODI has become more predictable with the toss win. There needs to be some changes in the ODI format which can make the make more excited.
ODI format is the very best as it gives ample opportunity for batsman no.1 to 7 to show his batting display most of the time unlike in 20-20 where mostly no.6 & 7 are used only for bowling. 20 overs is just not sufficient to settledown and play for a classy batsman. Similarly 4 overs never be adequate to show his bowling power for a bowler. If anyone wants fans to retain interest in the game 50-50 should be continued and played.
