What the Hell Dravid doing in powerplay.... playing test match
by fahad inayat on Sep 13, 2009 02:18 PM  | Hide replies

I dont know why Dravid is playing in the team.
He totally got tendulkar frustrated and made him play a false shot.
Please if he plays, dont send him in powerplay overs..

Dhoni should have come one down or sent Raina - but the fact is Dravid played well and kept one end tight .His rate of scoring is not records but ok. Remmeber he is coming back after two years and take time to rotate strike . Also Sachin is just losing concentration - this type of dismissals were impossible in his earlier career . He should take a few steps away from stumps when he plays two dot balls or misse one to regain concentration.

Dhoni is very good in giving long speeches during presentation ceremony & praising his friends in each matches. We have never seen any captain in past giving such a long speech. He will become good politician in future. Knows how to keep captaincy intact & his own favourites in team irrespective of performance like RP sing, Raina, Ishant,Yuvi etc

India became no.1 because of Dhoni & Yuvraj and not because of guys like dravid..They will not win everygame. What the hell Dravid did in power play overs, got Tendulkar out..
Dhoni backs the rigth players, even in the last match Dhoni and raina had to chase down a small total of 150.

Bring back Oldies
by MGR on Sep 13, 2009 11:22 AM  | Hide replies

Next series, bring back Kumble, Ganguly, Laxman.
Next next series bring back Kapil, Gavaskar, Srikkanth.
Next next next series bring back Pataudi, Bedi, Prasanna.
Our present Cricketers are making Money and not playing Cricket.
Do not allow a cricketer to play for more than 2 years in International Cricket.
If they play for more than 2 years, then they will be into business and forget cricket.

Disgraceful loss!
by Venkat on Sep 13, 2009 11:17 AM  | Hide replies

like Yuvraj operating to Jayasuriya who afyter his fifty was allowed to comfortably settle in with 2 very easy short pitched deliveries! It was as if the Indian team had taken the 'moral responsibility' of ensuring their good friend Jayasuriya was offered an extension in his ODI career...Its disgisting to see the likes of Angelo Mathews returning figures of 6 for 20 & someone like Kandamby remaining unbeaten in the 90's, 2 players who have seldom performed against any other teams, these are the issues that hurt more than a mere loss! On the composition of the team, its ridiculous that someone of the calibre of Praveen Kumar who has definitely a lot more of allround capabilities than someone like RP Singh is being made sit on the benches, PK with his natural swing would have ensured Jayasuriya & company retired from cricket(pun fully intended)! I saw a reader post his view that Yusuf should be tried as an opener with Sachin, this probably would be good idea for the future..Dinesh Karthik is again another character whose place in the team is questionable instead of us having someone like Kohli who is young & has a lot of potential, getting his chances now at a time when he can be groomed - lets not forget he's an excellent fielder as well! We neednt have had the same composition repeating especially when the side had 2 back-to-back games...anyway lets hope Dhoni & his men shock us in the next game as they have pleasantly done in the past with a winning performance!

Yeh, Jayasuriya gets all the fun in this world by hitting against poor Indian bowlers, throughout his career. I think India should import quality bowlers from other countries. Apart from Harbajan, hardly any consistant, attacking bowler in Indian side. If any doubt, see the list of ICC ODI top bowlers list. Sri Lanka got 9 bowlers in best 50, with no:1 and No: 5. India got only 5 in best 50 with the best of Zaheer at 16th. India depends on the quality batting, thats all!!!!!!

Sanath's innings was crucial for the win
by rocky on Sep 13, 2009 11:08 AM  | Hide replies

Whats great innings by jayasuriya... shows he is mighter than sachin..... its can also be seen in the ipl.
thou' sanath is elder to sachin 's 37 yrs age he is stronger than the him... the reason can be that sanath is not a selfish brahmin.

Am sorry to say this but its such pure bulls..t! Sachin is way beyond comparison & Jayasuriya is no match to his capabilities as a batsman! Jayasuriya was on his way out as his performance has been pathetic in the past as most lankans & the lankan ledia would vouch for! Isnt it surprising that Sachin has to face all this racial slur (am suprised this message was even allowed) when his last outing before the this series was in NZ when he retired unbeaten at 160 which perhaps was his best ODI innings to date - such messages are not in the true spirit of sport & is dissapointing to say the least!

Sachin is greatest.
But we should also admit that Jaysurya is also one of the best ODI player in history of cricket & can destroy any attack on his day.
Both of them legend of cricket & should be alloed to play cricket as lon as fit & in form irrespective of their age. We should not mind even if they paly till 42 yrs old as long as they are fit , making runs & winning matches. After all watching sachin/jaysurya playing cricket is soothing to the eyes rather than watching these spoiled young guns of dhoni.

Disgraceful loss!!!
by Venkat on Sep 13, 2009 11:02 AM

Sorry but have to be cynical here...its not about the loss but the manner in which the loss has come about is shocking to say the least. One can of course understand back to back games would have a negative effect on the players even at this level but what was not acceptable was the attitude shown on the field by some of the players. I have noticed a few things about specific players in this team which is hurting to say the least! One is Nehra, if this guy does not have a good 1st spell, he is practically finished for the match - he is not one who is waiting in the field to grab an opportunity to prove himself & come back into the game while fielding & this accounts for a selfish approach! RP Singh is the same, he is just too casual both while bowling & fielding, this may be a good thing where one has to absorb pressure but during a game when the team is against all odds, the fighting spirit has to be there & RPS is an extremely poor example! Now on the composition of the team & some strategy which perhaps needs a think-over, one thing that Dhoni has been found not doing is backing his bowlers when they need support after a bad spell, for instance when nehra had a bad start with the SL openers & was rightly taken off after a couple of overs, once Dilshan was gone at a fairly crucial juncture in the game at a stage when things could have been easily turned around, Nehra should have been brought in for a second chance to have a go at Jayasuriya. Instead one saw a bowler like...
