dhoni's batting order
by rabi panda on Oct 28, 2009 06:19 PM

considering the class and proven ability of sewagh, gambir, tendulkar and yuvra...... dhoni coming at number 5 is not a bad idea, who would you remove from the order in the above line up. even a raina is a good pick who can play high. dhoni down the order is dependable so i dont think so any change is necessary.

tendlya is not promoted for that reason. he forcibly took that role coz he wanted to score 100 100's...rather than taking india to victory batting at no 4

Good Player?????
by Anand V on Oct 28, 2009 02:16 PM  | Hide replies

What does he mean by good player. If he thinks a player is bad then he should not get a chance in Indian Cricket team. In this case selectors should be blamed for selecting bad players. Useless comment by Gavaskar didnt expect this.

All good players are selected in tram...The meaning of good player depending on situation...When situation demands then particular player is better than other good ones. e.g. Gavaskar mentioned abt run chase specially when it needs 5 runs per over scenario....So the legend is right. Fools like you proved themselve over and over more stupid, when they comment on one of the best cricket thinker in the world without even reading the article carefully. Good luck for growing up...

Last match, Tendulkar's scoring rate was fantastic. And after tha match, Gavaskar was putting the blame of Inia's loss on the middle order. Wis man, Gavaskar cannot do a correct analysis of the situation also.

meaningless advice.... it's a team game and every body should have the responsibility...wat do u mean by good players...those who come up the order..nicely settling in...scoring 50's ..and then when things starting to get tough throwing their wicket and leaving tough runchase to the newcomer or a young player..?. this is not a good advice every player should play under each and every situation...flexibility in the batting order should be there.. so that team should not depend on any set of players..australians are good at it...look at shane watsan...and jhonson how they play..
playing for the team needs and adopting to the match situation...is the biggest streangth of any team....not this meaningless advice..

yes you are right. He was the only match fixer. There were no counterparts to him. and none helped from inside the team. He only fixed matches and brought the shame. none before him nor after him fixed matches. The cricket world was pure before azhar and when azhar was there it become dirty. now it is pure again. Thanks to...........

PINCH HITTERS
by Sanjay Roy on Oct 28, 2009 01:47 PM  | Hide replies

Once upon a time we used to utilise the lower order batsman as pinch hitters. Irfan Pathan and others played the role very well. Today for reasons unknown we just seem to follow a fixed batting order. There is absolute NIL innovation. Why can't we send Harbajan at No 3...even if he gets out it really does not matter... The other day Tendulakar had a 50% strike rate and others did not fare any better. So maybe we need to relook once again at pinch hitters. Its probably also time to get back Irfan or his brother Yusuf to fill that role if Harbhajan can't.

Gavasker Comment
by Anand Nigade on Oct 28, 2009 01:43 PM

I think Gavasker is Right.Batting up the order by Dhoni Means he will taking Responsibility which has performed by Dravid in the past.Falling of Wicket in the Wronge Time is the big issue of our Team.So Stoping that and Average Scoring and in the End last overs We Scrore More and More....

problem
by Sanjay M on Oct 28, 2009 01:22 PM

Well then there could be a problem. Dhoni's incosistency will be exposed. It is safer to bat down the order because the ball will be softer and by the time dhoni comes out to bat the teams fate will be decided from the top order batsmans performance. So Dhoni can sit back and complain the top order or congratulate them. But when Dhoni himself is in the top order.. he cant do that. Dhoni would be in big trouble if goes to top order. And that is what Ganguly wants.. Gilchrist wants.. Gavaskar might be saying that out of good will though as there is a positive side as well when Dhoni bats in the top order.

Gavaskar knows that only Dhoni is capable of breaking his dubious record of 36 runs from 60 overs. So he wants Dhoni to open the innings.
