Good idea man so you can see Dhoni came quickly and became captain, same way now he is not sure of his batting performance and he can go quickly too. Advantage to Aussies.

A different kind of Dhoni
by PS on Oct 28, 2009 07:23 AM

Dhoni made his entry in Indian team with a big bang and later after he gained captainship,he just started playing diplomatically and not like sportsman.
In his earlier career,we would see Dhoni taking much initiative in the team.
And now you can see that Dhoni just pushes responsibility on other player. He just takes quick singles and passes on strike to another batsmen and in the pressure situation,he looses his wicket.
Earlier Dhoni was a hard hitter and was known for his clean hits and now he is best strike rotator and quickest runner between the wickets in our team.
Yes Gilchrist is saying right that Dhoni should come up in batting order.
And Dhoni did it in the first ODI match against Aussies. He batted on 4th position which was right but he needed to accelerate the scoring rate which he didnt do.The whole burden was on Gambhir.
Dhoni should regularly bat on 4th position and Raina should be sent in 6th position(He is also a good strike rotator and fits more for that job)
We have not seen hard hitter Dhoni from long time.So Dhoni should change his batting strategy now and play his natural game.

Dhoni is a tough nut..

...and isn't easily burdened by captaincy or other issues on or off the field. So he is the ideal captain. As far as the topic goes, its best if he bats higher up if the team gets off to a poor start. If they get off to a flier (which is often the case with SRT, Sehwag and Gambhir at the top), he can come in and do what he does best now. No need to tinker with a working order.

Removing Dhoni from captaincy?
by Legionnaire on Oct 28, 2009 05:26 AM  | Hide replies

Untill Sachin Tendulkar was made captain the entire cricketing fraternity was convinced that he would turn out to be a great captain, an inspiration for team, the best batsman in the world would be the best captain of India. What turned out to be was opposite - Not only he turned out to be a poor captain but Sachin's own personal form suffered. He was too tentative too tense and finally the tour down under inflicted a humilation on him causing him to resign from captaincy. He has never harbored to become captain of India eversince. Everyone knows how Saurav Ganguly lost his sublime touch as a batsman during his captaincy and was finally humiliated by board in spite of him inspiring a team from match fixing scandal and taking the team to world cup final. Rahul Dravid who is among the most mentally strong cricketers just couldn't handle the pressure of captaincy, his own form suffered badly resulting him to resign and he was finally dropped out of ODI team. The bottom line is when Indian players are made captains their performance remains good only for a time period but the evil dragon of bad form ultimately swallows them.

Following questions are pertinent before calling for Dhoni's head

1) The aforementioned captains are one of the greatest players ever to play for India, when they couldn't handle captaincy and lost their batting form what do you expect from the likes of Dhoni? As a matter of fact one should sympathesize with him and give credit to him. You are expect

Continued from above:

As a matter of fact one should sympathesize with him and give credit to him. You are expecting something from Dhoni who is only a decent player something which even some of the greatest players of India couldn't give.

2) If Dhoni is dropped who else is capable to lead India? Yuvraj, Sehwag, Sachin and Gambhir are the likeliest candidates. Do you want risk them loosing their form upon being thurst to captaincy?

Compared with the other great who captained in the past, Dhoni uses his captaincy to glorify his personal stat rather then acting in teams interest.

This is something that wasn't quite obvious ever for all the Indian captains of past.

Such attaitiude should not be tolearated for the sack Indian cricket's future..

India loose to australia 0-7...just to throw a selfish sob like dhoni out of the team...i will also be sad to see india losing 0-7 but to gain something you have to loose something...atleast future of indian cricket will be bright if dhobi is thrown out...he is talking of shooting...use your bat first then think of gun...when real t_e_r_r_o_r_i_s_t come infront of him..he will pour in his pants

Sanket,
I understand your point but most here are frustrated by Dhonis antics. His inability to change his batting to fit with limited overs game and often a reason for the loss.

He tops it up with his total nonsensical comments..For example the match that rained out against Aussie during the Champions Trophy, and Dhoni claimed after the match that if it had not rained we would have deffinately won that game. Well Aussie were close to 6 rpo in 40 odds over with wickets on hand.

The last game against Aussie, Dhoni claims we would have won that game and that how well played that we came so close to winning. What? That partnership between Bhajan and Kumar was fluke.

Dhoni's batting is not even worth mentioning as he simplay plays for his average now. No wonder why Dhoni ie being bassed around here..
