My ODI team
by Orient Mystique on Oct 14, 2009 09:17 AM  | Hide replies

My ODI team for the forthcoming Australia series is (in batting order):

1. Virender Sehwag (Captain)
2. Gautam Gambhir
3. Suresh Raina
4. Yuvraj Singh
5. Rohit Sharma
6. Dinesh Karthik (WK)
7. Abishek Nayar
8. Pragyan Ohja
9. Dhawal Kulkarni
10. Sudip Tyagi
11. Ashish Nehra

The following players should be in the reserve for rotation or replacement when necessary:

1. Robin Uthappa
2. Munaf Patel
3. Piyush Chawla
4. Praveen Kumar
5. Yusuf Pathan
6. Virat Kohli

Dhoni needs rest and hence Sehwag should be captain. Yuvi needs to mellow down and become more sober before he can be appointed as vice captain, forget captaincy. Harbhajan needs a long break from the game. Ohja is a much better prospect than Amit Mishra in ODIs. Mishra deserves a place in test side, not in shorter versions of the game. Zaheer can come into the XI if he is fit.

I am not commenting on the exclusion of some of the players in my team, who will most likely find the favour of our national selectors. These names will be any way brought up by those who comment on my post.

My selection is for the present and future!

Trash talking is all these guys learnt from Aussies
by Raman Shiva on Oct 14, 2009 06:29 AM

Since 2001 when the so called Indo Aussie rivalry for the top spot came its only the verbal volleys and trash talking(most of the times its stating the obvious)is all our players have learnt, now Gambhirs statement is the prime example, earlier Bhajji used to say the same thing over and over(that aussies are beatable, after beating them in one ODI and losing like 10 odis)..i mean come on what have our so called great players achieved as a team in the last 2 decades compared to Aussies, starting from mid 90s?
AUS have won 3 wcups in a row
We won nothing
AUS have won 16 tests in a row twice
We didnt even come close to that once
We won T20 wcup, but we all know how worthy that is when Pak won it this time,if a average team like Pak can win T20 wcup then it shows what a lottery that type of cricket is..
Yea we have beaten AUS once or twice in our turf,so what?we still havent achieved even half of what they did,to hear statements like the above(Sehwag will win the game if he stays 15 overs)is nauseating.

Wayamba Elevens skipper Jehan Mubarak says :

'If we had bowled and batted little better, the result could have been different'

HIS COMMENTS ARE SIMILAR TO OUR CAPTAINS.
EXTREMELY SENSIBLE !!

Even Bhajji can win a match if he bats for 15 overs but who will bat for 15 overs is the question.
