bring back Agarkar, Irfaan
by deepak choudhary on Oct 12, 2009 06:50 PM  | Hide replies

MSD (Captain FOOL) please get wiser and humble.
Bring back Ajit Agarkar, Irfaan Pathan into the team, atleast they bat and field well in comparision to Ishant and RP Singh.
Rahul Dravid is a complete misfit in ODI team... please let him go and give chance to players like Manoj Tiwary, Wriddhiman saha, Dinesh Karthik...

RP Singh, Ishant needs some rest, they out of sorts. With Zaheer the indian pace attack is leaking runs not getting break throughs. Sehwag is also missed in the line up.

Good platform to see new talents
by Srinivasan Nanjundan on Oct 12, 2009 04:32 PM  | Hide replies

Overall, it has been a good tournament since we saw some unusual names in both 3 teams. Well, the talent in India will not dry but keeping up the standard is the question. Now it is the time to prepare the raw talent to international level in NCA and give them chance to go to abroad and play cricket there.
We need constant fixture for A team tours and love to see all these boys playing in Aus, Eng, SA and etc.

We are still lacking in Spinners and I hope selectors should take a look at these players and give them a chance.

I thought he said only about IPL but how could he come and play for India if not his performance for India A team. I think we need a better statement from him. I bet he said IPL

no fresh talent
by sai krishna on Oct 12, 2009 02:47 PM  | Hide replies

I dont think we have found any aggressive new talent in the tournament. Some players look impressive but over all we did not find a player in calible of Martin Guptil,Saeed Ajmal, Umar Akmal in our future teams.
1) Murali Vijay looked impressive but problem is that he did not have slogging shots, he is fit for tests.
2) Anirudha Srikanth - He has to slog like Jayasurya or like Umar to get into the team
3) T.Srivastava- Good player need to play more strokes as a opener in a One day match need to score more runs than balls he faces.
4) Badrinath- He is definately a test player
5) Wasim Jaffer- Got all the strokes in the world but should score more runs in first 30 or 40 balls he faces. Good test player could not give good start.
6) Y.Pathan- He need to practise and wait for bad ball to hit. He taking on all the balls.
7) A.Mukund- Got all the shots need to score more runs in first five overs to give good start.
8) S.S.Kumar- Played very well in one game.
9) S.Tyagi- He is definately had a chance to be in Indian Team.
10) Sreesanth- Will be part of next Indian team
11) Ishant Sharma- Time is over good bye.
12) M.M.Patel- Though he was taking wickets, he needs to practise aggression. His body language is rather lazy.
13) R.Aswin- He is most talented and will be in the Indian team very shortly. He got all varieties inlcuding carrom ball.
( This is only my views if my assessement is wrong kindly take it lightly)

I am very happy that you have followed the local talent pool.
But all these boys are good but they need to work on their skills to move towards to International standard.

Be fair

Look at the end of the day ... those of whom or us who played any team sports. Know that one you are as good as you and your team mates put together and how you play as an unit. The higher you go up the realms of any team sport the harder it becomes for a consistent set of victories unless you got a solid team that plays as a unit. There I think Ricky Ponting has been blessed and the only phase of time when he had a new set of players was the begining of this year and it was to see how the team faired till the end of the English Summer.

Now in the Case of Dhoni, he is only as good as his team and he was seriously let down by his top 3 batsmen in the 20-20 world cup and his bowlers in the Champions Trophey. Inbetween he has made best of what he has and the team sits at high rankings now achieved before.

Looking at yesterday's game India Blue where blown away and you can not except Dhoni to come out perform at a high level of intensity everyday and save his team. Give the guy a break.

Think the selectors have not done him any favours Ishant Sharma has been lacking serious confidence and form so has Harbajan ... and I would not be suprised if they get selected by this challenger series performances were they played the second tier players on not so batting paradises !! End story they will get hammered by the Aussies once again if selected.

Same thing over and over.. our selectors seldom select based on talent but their quota's.

Challenger Trophy
by gladson dalmeida on Oct 12, 2009 01:58 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni's luck is running out everywhere and his captaincy skills are at display like craft work in an exhibition.g He keeps on making wrong decision not because he is erring but because he does not have a cricketing brain. He was raised to the pedestal unnecessarily and somewhat it got into his head that he was the ultimate captain of Indian cricket. When he kept quiet in the field without knowing what to do next, we called him Captain Cool, when he brought some fringe bowler to bowl and took wicket, when his mainstream bowlers ran off the steam, we called him man with Mida's touch and when he took 75 balls to score 40-50, we hailed him as adapted to situations and having a steady head on his shoulders. Bullshit. For me he was the bad captain and harming influence on young cricketers even when he won the Twenty20 world cup and I hold on to this theory even now. What made him successful was that he had Lady Luck standing beside him closely. But today luck has deserted him and only 'ladies' stand beside him. He is spending more time with 'girls' off field than with 'boys' on field, with exceptionto RP Singh. He has been the master politician of India cricket much like Deve Gowda of Karnataka. Due to his wrong decisions and high-headedneness he has almost shut the careers of Irfan, Kaif, Ajit Agarkar, Robin Uthappa and even Sresanth. His blue-eyed boys such as Bhajji, Ishant, RP, Yousuf have forgotten that they are playing for the nation. But we still hail him for reason

yes this is 100% correct, players should not picked based on IPL or Domestic, reason because IPL and domestic are tentionfree tournments but internatinal tournments are full of tention. That is why Rohit, Ysuf pathan, Jedeja and etc players not able to click in Internationl. and also see the seniors Dravid palyed well in IPL T20 and now even Lakman also playing in CLT20, why because it is all about tention free match, playing for themselves not for us, if they not sign in IPL or CLT20 it will not effect country or anybody except the particular player(So once again i am telling do not pick the players based on their IPL or Domestick performance please, please.

By the way, the domestic is not tension free. The youngsters take that opportunity to show their talent with the hope that they get picked for higher level..

The What?

If we don't pick 'em on their Domestic performance then how should we select the player? The point is, player should be picked based on their performance in DOmestics, and then the talent need to be groomed..

BTW, Rohit was good player, Dhoni ruined Rohit and Raina both..

do you know Dhoni himself was selected based on his performance in Domestic? So did Tendul, Dravid, Gangu, Kapildev and all other greats..

Go back and check T20WC scorecard and see how much opportunity Yusuf was given to bat. Mind you Yusuf was red hot and considered the cleanest hitter along with Symond at that time. Dhoni chewed up the most of the innings for his own batting and ruined the opportunities for other youngsters..

S.Badrinath & S.Dhawan not in Ind team still ?
by Kathiravan Rajasekar on Oct 11, 2009 09:14 PM  | Hide replies

I dunno whats wrong with the selectors to keep the very good batsmen like S.Badrinath and S.Dhawan out of the team and fail so miserably.
With such a yuck pace attack, these guys like Tyagi and Munaf can be atleast taken as backups..
All politics..

its true my dear friend...where is irfan pathan...he is lack of confidence..ya true...but on his day he is a match winner..he can contribute with bat and ball..where is kaif...where is Badri..where is S Dhawan...why r they blamming yousuf pathan for lacklusture show..the same man was the trumpcard for Warne..Dhoni doesnot no to utilise his players..whn he was captain of Cheenai kings..he never utilised R Ashwin..and under utilised many players..players should be used according to their form not on big names...i still not understant wht will happen with carrers of prgyan ojha and ashwin, mishra etc,,,and wht abt...Rohit..Tyagi and munaf are better thn nehra at any given day...

Tyagi cant field, he is a bad fielder even according to Indian standards. And he bowls at 125k which will be dismissed to the fence by Ponting and co! Badri is good and has a good chance of making it to the team in place of Yousuf. Dhawan is fighting with Gambhir, shewag or sachin for a place and i think they are better than him in all aspects so he has to wait..Unfortunately!!
