Match-fixing
by Guest on Oct 06, 2009 02:20 PM

If this is the state of affairs of Pakistan cricket, then please look into our "bad" bowling performance against Pakistan! Harbajan often bowling middle and leg line and Ishant bowling short pitch-out side the off stump!

Pakistan's Old Ways Continue
by satish tadinada on Oct 06, 2009 02:18 PM

Whenever Pakistan loses, their countrymen feel it has to deliberate under performance. I mean, why can't they accept it that their team is just as good as they are? Indians didn't say that Dhoni's team lost to Pakistan on purpose. Pakistan make it sound like their team is invincible. They feel that the Pakistan national side is the best team in this world and has never before lost matches. The fact is that they are an unpredictable team and that is the only certainty in their game, their unpredictability. For them to lose wickets the way they did against New Zealand was not under performance but plain thoughtless and insipid batting. As far as their loss against Australia was concerned, it was more about circumspection and over cautiousness than anything else. Pakistan is a good team, but not unbeatable. In fact if someone like an Australia loses to them, a probe should be ordered to see if Australia was bribed to lose to Pakistan, not vice-versa. ;-)

ABSOLUTELY NONSENSE
by sachin on Oct 06, 2009 02:18 PM  | Hide replies

These allegations are totally false. Todays cricketers earn millions, so where does fixing come, also personal pride is at stake. Every one knows what happened to cronje, Azar,
salim malik, prabhakar, jadeja, etc. Seeing these ex cricketers where they are today, no one will think of even coming close to fixing.
I hope everyone agrees here.

What makes you think that they will have a tough time? They have never lost an ODI bilateral series to India in India. They play well in India as compared to what they do in Australia. However, if you feel that it has to do with their weakened lineup the Aussies have shocked us all with a sterling display in South Africa in the Champions Trophy 2009. If India wants to win 4-3, the guys will have to dig deeper than ever before and be very certain about all their actions and play to their optimum best, it wont certainly be because the Aussies will struggle in India.

I absolutely agree with you. I am sure after all the enquiry and facts people will know the truth that Younis is honest. Mr. Dasti should be hanged publically because a mere apology will not make up for such baseless allegation which is completely driven by not more than personal sentiments.

if pak had beaten aus
they would have faced england in semis.which they could have beaten.
simialry india could have faced NZ and defeated them.
so ind-pak finals.
since indian bowling badly and batting depleted, pak could have won finals.
the plan has gone terribly wrong.

Then by that logic, how could India would have beaten NZL in the semi final? Any plausible explanation for that?

They have fought hard in all games and their bowlers tried their level best to win against Newzealand. You can nit expect the team to win every day. Newzealand is a competitive team and they can beat any team. T

But that is the fact and unfortunately it is happening all the more regularly. Except for the 2007 T20 World cup that we won, we have lost in the 1st round since the 2004 Champions Trophy.

Our 1st round exits listed below
---------------------
2004 CT in England
2006 CT in India
2007 World Cup in West Indies
2009 T20 World Championship in England
2009 CT in South Africa

May be you are right, but during Australian match he should preferred to give the 47th over to his left hander fast bowler instead of spinner, and avoided lot of extra runs. Even at that time, 8 wickets were down.

no guys just ponder on some points.
afridi getting out first bowl playing a silly shot to johnson.
younis scoring 18 of 50 balls.
afridi dropping a simple catch.
allowing easy singles at death overs.
asif was not allowed to bowl his full qouta.

also 1 and 3 runs in 48th and 49th over of pak innings.
everything shows that pak had made up mind to underperform and lose!
but their bowlers specially
rana, asif and ajmal had other plans and nearly spoiled the plans.
