Is India out due to washed out match ?
by Sagar Mulay on Oct 01, 2009 01:54 PM  | Hide replies

Its surprising to read many comments that say India is out of CT due to the washed out match !!! Come on guys, the way India was playing, we should be thankful to the Rain Gods for helping us secure ONE point that day. With Cameron White already settled at the crease, Aussies were definitely looking for a 300 score and India would never have chased that.

so what ? given the chance you too would've planned and played. Pak has gambled on the law of average and they'll win the semis. The kiwi's are gonna take home the trophy for a 2nd time.

Champions in complaining!
by nisha thoas on Oct 01, 2009 11:17 AM  | Hide replies

They always complain about umpiring, heat, pitch etc. Did India complain after the match was washed out? That cost India a semis place. India and SL are far more sporting.

Nisha, The pitch was certainly under-prepared.Having played cricket in different levels for 20 years, I can certainly vouch for that. Even Asif was surprised at the turn he got to get the eighth wicket. It was more like a off-spinner's turn.As a captain, he is entitled to make observations and Ricky just did that.

Being India or SL being more sporty, I don't know. All I can say is that the intensity or the hunger to win was lacking in India as well as in Dhoni. Also, what will Dhoni complain? that it rained?

In important tournaments, they need to get in reserve day (or) according to weather forecast they can decide to go for for reduced 20-20 overs match at the start of match itself. Definitely "no result" was 50% reason for India's ouster. Other 50% os ofcourse loss to Pak.

You can find such standard when you see Champions are playing. Pakistan displayed their bowling class and Australians displayed that they can fight till their last wicket

Ponting didn't complain about the pitch while playing against India and his team nearly scored 300. Anyhow they didn't play like champions in the tournament and their performance was so so. We can expect an England and Pakistan finals.

Ponting didn't complain about the pitch even now.

Rediff did.

So correct your statement.

Australia are the ultimate champions. India, Pak, SA or SL cannot be compared with them.

Going by the statement of Ponting, it sounds true.

WE could possibily see Ponting makes this remarks about pitch whenever they lose or win in tight matches (either regarding pitch or Umpiring std or behaviour of opposite team)

Agreed Aus is a good team, but they are not good enough always as they play dirty many times.

If you consider Ponting's statement as playing dirty, then I can very well imagine what type of thinking process you follow.. :)
