a good pitch
by kumar bhat on Nov 29, 2009 01:08 PM  | Hide replies

A good pitch is not the one which provides assistance to seamers in the first hour, then becomes flat for 3 days and start turning after 4th day. It provides undue advantage for the team which wins the toss. A true cricket pitch should provide good bounce and turn from day 1 and shouldn't degrade after 3 days. A bowler with some effort should be able to trouble the batsmen. It should hold for 5 days without any advantage to whoever bats first. Unfortunately India doesn't produce such wickets and this is the reason why test cricket is losing its popularity in subcontinent.

Sorry....u cant expect that sort of a pitch which offers consistant bounce for 3 days....match could be over with in 3 days ....these days there is a clear nexus between captain and curator of the pitch in india, indian captain do not allow curator to prepare a sporting pitch with a bit of grass on it....the reason everyone knows....just a bit of pace and bounce ...the so called "masters" and"dada's" and "blasters" of indian team would be resting in the dressing room, so it is left only to Dravid to rescue team india on such pitches....also captain donot want to put his "friends" on such difficult pitch condotions so that they keep on lamenting abt pitch rather than their own inability and talent on those pitches.....remember how Mr. Ganguly used to skip test matches when he saw just a bit of grass on the pitch early in the morning few hours before a test match....due to so called " injury".....so dont expect such pitches in india....captain like to play with his "friends" on a batting paradise
