SRT century Vs England in Headingley, 2002 Vs West Indies in chennai 1975, GR Viswanath 97 not out(the best ever innings against pace). Adelaide (03" I think) Aussies scored 556 in a day n a half and took out half the side in no time for next to nothing. Then the old firm of Dravid/VVS (233 n 148 respectively) brought india to 523. Then Ajit agarkars only performance worth mentioning (6 wickets for very little) and Anil cleaned up the Aussies. Left to score 231 in the forth inning, with the top order tottering, it was Dravid again (72 no) who took the aussies on single handedly and stayed to score the winning runs!!! This was the 1st instance in 15 years that aussies had lost a test when the rubber was not already decided. If Kolkata was the start....Adelaide proved that Aussies/India rivalry had left behind the Ashes and Inod-Pak far behind. No wonder the Aussies requested a change in the futures programme to have India visit them every alternate year!!!!Anand Natarajan

We could see "Sunny Days" of test Cricket only because of Wadekar,Gavaskar,Vishwanath,Bedi, Chandra, Prasanna, Solkar, Abid Ali,Vengsarkar,Madanlal,Ghavari, Mohindar Amarnath & Kapil Deo these are the Best Cricketers India ever had. Because them players like Sachin,Dravid,Laxman,Ganguli got inspiration.

The Bridgetown Test where Dravid won us the test match single handedly probably the best in recent times.
Among others the Kolkata test (Dravid and Lax-MAN) and the MCG test where Kapil Dev fought pain and bowled out the Aussies are great victories.
The Chennai test against England ranks high too which V Sehwag setup.
The test at Pindi was memorable.
But my vote goes for the Bridgetown, MCG and Kolkata in that order for the trying conditions under which they were won.
Sorry but Tendulkar has not and cannot win test matches single handedly and I want to say it. Venkat

it was sachin who took two big wickets of hayden n gilly in the second inngngs of kolkata test in 2001 otherwise it would have been a draw. he also claimed warne
to me the best was in headingley in 2003. lost at lords.. saved the defeat in nottingham.. and in headingley the conditions suitable for seam bowling than batting... it was the test of a team which was on the brink.. but then the wall stood tall along with the master and the captain.. they hammered effectivley.. perhaps the only test in which all these big 3 guies got 100s.. kumble and zaheer chipped in.. really the test and the character shown by our team.. next is calcutta .. no doubt laxman scored.. but then it was not possible widout the wall.. remember they did it.. and after that obviously the chennai test.. sehwag in his elements and sachin more like a grandfather.. these 3 are the undoubted best..

the best win always will be the first one.... then first win abroad first win in pakistan first win in australia first win in England first win in South Africa but in all these Calcutta Test match comes in to mind it was one of the bestapart from these matches
I think the test match in which Australia asked India to follow on and Laxman scored a double hundred! Undoubtedly a great win - although I do not dare say the greatest as I was not even born when Gavaskar played in the Windies... and then Wadekar's team in England! I think there is no point looking for the Greatest! The one that we won today however is anything but great... considering that the pitch cracked very badly. I think too much depended on the toss this time!
