Who are the Pasengers in India Test team?
by Talisman on Nov 25, 2009 08:34 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni, Yuvaraj, Harbachan, Ishant Sharma

Recommend Dhoni and Yuvi to be dropped from the test team and asked to play Ranji matches for a full season.

We will see how many hundreads these two ducks will score. My guess is Zero! these two are not worth of playing in indian test team.

Rohit Sharma is a solid batsman. Mohammed Kaif is another. Bhadrinath and Vijay. Now, these are proven players!

We love Yuvi and Dhoni in one-day and twenty-twenty scenarios. However, these two have not shown anything serious to be considered as test batsmen - i.e. even after being in the team this long!

You can count the number of centuries these two have put together in tests. Paltry and pathetic!

pray tell us what kaif, badri and vijay have proved do far? nothing! yuvraj is tsill the classiest players we have (along with laxman. where were u when he scored that imp 68 in the last match? i do agree with u abt rohit sharma- he's another class act and needs a longer rein.

Ok so you want Dhoni and Yuvi to be dropped after doing well in the last test? Yuvi came to bat when his team was 32/4 and scored valuable 68 and then Dhoni scored a hundred and now you are saying to drop them.

Anyway nobody is going to listen to you. So you can keep dreaming.

The probability of getting out bowled goes up when you face more number of deliveries! isnt it?

Gambir is a more techinically and high scoring player than sachin. Gambir has always been in sachin's shadow in the odis, whereas in the tests he has the chance to play freely his natural game as a opener. Even in odis sachin must be made to bat lower down the order.

Sachin will not retire in any form until he gets badly injured that he cant get onto the field,we have a chairman of selector who tells everyone every single day of his life that he was the FIrst captain of Sachin and sings Sachin chalisa,so why would he retire,he would score 20 of 53 balls like he did yday and play forever..

Even after the loss to a second string Aussies team all Gavaskar and co were doing is enjoying sachins personal landmarks and not focus on Team india,AUS on other hand have won wcups 4 times and dominated tests for a long time whereas Srikanth and co care more about sachin,so y would he retire?

Gambhir's potential
by UsualSuspect on Nov 24, 2009 10:49 PM

Gambhir's unique ability is to read the situation and being able to adapt to it quickly ! Plus he has a great attitude of seizing opportunities with both hands. If he continues playing the way he has been playing he will go down as the best Indian opener ever !

gambhir after making comeback to indian team
by gaurav manchanda on Nov 24, 2009 10:05 PM  | Hide replies

All of us are talking about gambhir's career average.
if u look at his performance after making comeback as a test opener into Indian squad in Sri lanka tour 2008:

13 tests
25 innings (with 1 not out)
Total runs: 1861
average: 77.6 per inning

In the last 1 and half years, he is far ahead of indian greats Sachin, Dravid and Sehwag.

This avg is of no use.
Just see avg of any batsman on SA/Eng/Aus pitches & agianst quality attack & pressure situtaion.
Then u know why sachin, dravid & laxman are called greats & remaining still medicore including dhoni & yuvi etc.

do you know sachin's record against SA. he has always failed against them. in 52 odi matches he has scored 1655 runs at 31.83 average. sachin has only scored on good batting pitches. under pressure situation and against quality attack sachin has rarely delivered. dhoni and yuvi have won more odi matches than sachin and also been more consistent than him. in fact if you look at the past few years the truth is when dhoni plays india wins and when dhoni fails india loses.

Agree. However, Sewag has done well everywhere including against Aussies and SA. Gambhir is also a class act that will go on to make history!

I have to agree with you on Yuvi and Dhoni who are twenty-twenty and One-day players. They have not done much in tests!

Dhoni has played 2 test matches in SA where he averages a decent 40. He scored a match saving 75 and then a 92 in England. He hammered the West Indies in a test match. He has also done well in Pakistan. he is averaging 45 plus in his last 15 test innings. Mr.Ashish Kumar should talk about cricket. It is obvious he doesnt know a thing.

Halwa: Dhoni has done nothing much in test cricket to win a test match for india. He is expected to score atleast 50 runs in a test match. That he has scored at 40 runs shows, he has not established nothing!

He is a good twenty-twenty and one-day player. While you are at it why dont you give us the fact book about Yuvi, who is another one-day and twenty-twenty miracle!

again! ur comments border on the ridiculous. any batsmen having an avg of 40 is considered to be good- leave alone a wicket keepre and no 7. if dhoni actually averages 40 (i'm not sure), then he's done phenomenally well! question- how many ppl in test cricket have avgd 50 and above? not even 10%.

That is just absurd. Gambhir will have a long career and will score a ton of runs.

However, Ashish is right. LAx, Sach and Dravid are in another class.

In the current indian team, Sewag is in the same class.

Gambhir has the potential to be great. However, is not there, yet.

One-day players Yuvi and Dhoni are just that! One day players!
