Green Park Score Board
by S Shrikanth on Nov 23, 2009 01:11 PM

Ten years back one of my uncle living in England had told me that the score board at Green Park in Kanpur is the best in the world. I only laughed on this. I got a chance to see a match last year against SA. My eyes could never believe that there could exist such a giant and comprehensive score board. Everyting is online - All batsmen name, who is batting, who is bowling, all fielder names, all bowlers names and their bowling analysis. It is just like a comprehensive score card of a cricket match. Unbelievable!! And it blinks M for maiden and W for wicket maiden overs.

Simply amazing!!

A spectator told me that this score board was installed in 1975 and since then it is the best cricket score board in the world.
I came with the memory of this single view score board and always appreciate the wonderful piece work that the engineers put up to construct it.

Its a must see for cricket lovers.

South India is well ahead in terms of technology- both creation and adoption. The income growth has got traction now, so it will soon be on par with Chile, Brazil or malaysia to be ranked as 'middle income' region

I agree. Every time I visit India, I am struck by the great strides of progress the four South Indian states and Pondicherry have been making.

It is amazing how the rest of the country is by and large stagnating, while there is this increasing divide between South and the rest of the country. And I am not just talking Technology and infrastructure projects (which the south leads in anyway), but in so many other aspects as well (Education, health care, employment, general quality of life of people, reduction of poverty etc).

It is almost as if there are 2 different countries within India - South India, and the rest of India.

I am from south but living in North for a long time. I visited Chennai, Hyderabad while working in Bangalore during 2005-2007.

It seems you have never visited Northern cities. :-)

Boss,, The northern cities have great infra structure, I accept, but its only the cities of the northern states u can see development. In south india, u can see all the cities and towns growing with almost the equal phase. That makes the difference.

i am staying in South India for more than 4 years and i would say being a person from Eastern India, Southern cities are miles ahead of eastern cities in terms of development. It is very sad that people in Eastern Cities are more busy discussing politics and old golden days , rather than doing good work for our future generation except few organizations. That is the main reason that talents from Eastern region are moving towards South or North for career growth.
