Rahul Dravid easily takes the cake for being the most boring player ever. He is a kill joy and a sure prescription to kill cricket. It is shocking that even when he is well settled, he finds it difficult to pierce the field and keeps on hitting straight to fielders much to the frustation of the fans.
Kevin Pietersen believes Kallis is the greatest player ever. He apparently also rates Dravid very high, higher than Sachin. Media worldwide keep saying that Ponting is the best batsman over the last 5 years. Sachin probably is the best ever ODI player. But calling him the best batsman ever is stupid. It would be unfair to say he is greater than Lara, Ponting, Kallis, Mathew Hayden or our own Rahul Dravid who arguably has saved and won us more matches than Sachin has. So I'd say Sachin is a truly great batsman (some of his fans are a little too crazy/ insane, but he's a nice chap and there are other greats too.

Most of the people here comment without seeing all the matches which these cricket players play. They just comment after seeing the score board. if you want to evaluate who is the greatest batsman, see all the matches and how they play and thats why people with cricket knowledge rates sachin as the best

For all people there is no better place to validate the pre-sumptions...
Pls. check out the stats on Cricinfo to see for these Three simple queries?
How many matches has Sachin scored 100 or highest score for the team, while team won (odi / test)?
How many matches has Sachin got MOM when the team has won (odi / test)?
What has been Sahin's percentage of score (vis a ve the team total) when the team has won?
If you can find a cricketer who has won more matches for his team than Sachin! Pls. post back.
Will leave this good excercise of learning to all doubters!!!
Dear Rediff, Is this is sports news. This is execlusively for cricket and no news other than cricket. There r lot of football,Hockey and volly tournements r going on.None of them r reported. No comments on athletics and related events. So u change ur caption as Cricket.
I think a country where public and media are so much obsessed with records, no doubt Sachin has done more for India than Maha. I dont know whether he holds any record for Mumbai. Keeep it up Sachin we needs more record from you as a player than INDIA as a team. I have no doubt why Ausssies are no 1 and we are not where aussies dont have any world record holder.

I have been regularly seeing these comments about for India kind of stuff. I have a doubt about the genuineness of the people who always talk about this. Are they working for India or for their food, career, promotion and dont they talk about something called Job Satisfaction? How do they define all this? Same people talk about why some one is in the team quoting his track record in the last few matches. But when someone makes some runs or records they say he plays for records. I think this is all a part of jealousy and nothing else. And this is unhealthy for India as a whole when we cant appreciate someone's success. And you work very hard to build lot of logic to criticize someone for every step of people like Sachin, whatever is the outcome. They need counselling.

Others fall India's rise? SA have a good chance to stay at No.2 when the series come to an end by the Time India will start to play SL. That time India managed to stay at No.2 then that is good.
