whenever any one of sachin or sehwag gets injured and gambhir was asked to open, India tried lot of players (raina, rohit, virat, dinesh karthik, robin uthappa)at number 3 position. look at their batting averages at number 3:
raina 23.37 16 matches
karthik 4.50 4 matches
rohit sharma 14.5 6 matches
uthappa 18.83 6 matches
There is one player who have a better average than all these players at number 3 position and that is IRFAN PATHAN.
irfan pathan 28.64 18 matches
he can bowl also. india always lack good pace bowlers & their strength is spinners. if irfan comes as a 3rd pacer then india can play with 2 spinners which makes their bowling stronger. Irfan is also a strong candidate for number 7 position. he can score quick runs. Since last 18 months, there is only a single half-century by number 7 batsman and the next big score is 40 runs. If u look at statistics the highest batting average of a number 7 batsman is 23 (irfan pathan). All these statitics reveals the fact that IRFAN is a better option for number 3 (in case any one of sehwag, sachin and gambhir not playing) and also for number 7.
remember, India has won the T20 world cup, CB series Australia with 5 specialist bowlers (one of them being IRFAN PATHAN).
I dont know why u all think like this. He is a master in test cricket. We can also see in new zealand series in new zealand he was very consistent. So i like him and salute him.

In the recent one day series against Australia, not even one player was there in the Indian Team from the South. What are u talking non sense.

this is nothing new in indian cricket. indian selectors are following the history.
So much hype is made about Tendulkar but not so much of Dravid who has very many important world records like max. no. of catches, max. no. of century partnerships as well Best player trophy from ICC in 2006 for both categories but was looked down upon due to interference from Ganguly supporters ( Parliamentarians as well media peiple from Eastand North) who showed chappel to Dravid and also supported SA team with the same Bengalee curator Mukherjee laying a green turf at Eden gardens to see Dravid get defeated and Sourab retains his position inspite of very poor showing by Sourab at that time.Inspite of all provocation Dravid has steered India from deep trouble on m,any occassions than any one else in the recent past including the recently drawn match.

but dravid is much better batsman as compare to ganguly. He can play short pitch with ease and also capable of handling pressure more easily than ganguly. he also have pull India out of crisis situations more times as compare to the ganguly.
The only things in which ganguly dominates dravid is selfishness, bad politics, inconsistent performance and "DIVIDE & RULE" policy. All used to say that under ganguly's captaincy India reached in the 2003 world cup final. but remember 1 thing, in 2003 world cup sachin, dravid, nehra, srinath were in prime form. ganguly has scored 3 centuries in that world cup and that too are against weaker kenya (2) and one against Namibia. Just look at the scores in all the matches he has played in 2003 world cup 8 (netherland) 9 (australia) 24 (zimbabwe) 112 (namibia) 19 (england) 0 (pakistan) 107 (kenya) 48 (Sri Lanka) 3 (new Zealand) 111 (ganguly) 24 (Australia Final)
The most funny thing about ganguuly in the world cup 2003 was that he was the second highest run scorer in the tournament.

Only reson dravid is playing now is because he is from south. if ganguly ould have been from south, you all would have danced with him on your head. he would have still been playing and dravid would have retired.

if u think that dravid is getting chance bcoz he is from south then India should have BADRINATH (a south Indian)in the team. he is also the one of the best domestic batsmen since the last 3 years.
1 more thing, compare runs scord by ganguly and dravid

if badri would have been in indian team then south indian selectors would have won padmabibhusan in regionalism

no need to be sorry, ganguly will remain a great player whatever your interpretation is, dravid will alaways be a second grade player

I am sure in your book you have Ganuguly as the greatest and Manoj Tiwari as the 2nd greatest with SS Das as the fastest bowler in the world..LOL
For the cricket followers around the world, Ganguly is not even remotely close to Dravid in batting..
