So you only want Lanka batters to score century. As per ur yardstick, Sachin should single handedly chase a 400 run fouth innings chase on swing and seaming beauty such as the one found in Kiwi tour in 2002 when bowlers like Tuffy took a wicket on very first ball.Only then you will be happy. Why not use same yardstick for other batters and see how many comes up trump??
Weather has turned quite cold in Kanpur, with morning fog also there. This means that ball will swing and seam quite a bit in the morning. Indian batsmen need to be careful otherwise we may end up getting a very embarrassingly low score against the Lankan quicks. India should play with three quicks with Ashish Nehra coming in for Ishant Sharma.

I somehow feel Sachin will not play in this match due to injury. Seam and swing too ! Moreover, he has just scored a century.

Oh ya.. he has missed 160 matches when he has played 160. What a jocker you are ? Just check how many days you missed in school - I can bet it would be more than the number of days Sachin missed cricket in 20 years.

I have a feeling you are a whiner and a loser. Moreover, you just commented here.
There is nothing wrong in what Dhoni said. A test match pitch should have something for both the batsmen and bowlers. This pitch is a bowler's nightmare. Irrespective of the pitch condition, the centuries scored by the players should not be spoken off lightly because these runs should be assessed in the context of the match situation. In that respect Gambhir's and Sachin's tons should be appreciated and not appreciated as they helped us to draw the match.

While congratulating Sachin Tendulkar on his 43rd hundred and reaching the landmark of 30,000 international runs, Sangakkara said it was Sachin who intended to continue play in the last hour. "We wanted to go away and asked Sachin, but he wanted to continue to get to his 100," he said.
For Sachin, his personal records are top priority.

Buddy, wat is wrong in it? I am not a vivid Sachin fan, still I accept him as one of the greatest cricketer. Appriciate for what he has done. Dont be cynical.
Re: Re: Motera Pitch

Did that rule apply when they batted to go for 952 for 6 and did not declare for 3 days ? A test hundred is not easy to get, why should he not get it. It would be selfish if he is doing it at the cost of Victory or even some other player getting a hundred. If not, he batted whole day witch Gambhir to save the test for India and deserves to get a hundred and so he should. A

keeping the opposite team more n the field means the more they get tired. for india just 2 players were @ the ground but for lankans all the 11 players were out there, which means they had tough time.normally once a team feels its going to be a draw they becme lazy n the field....sachin in this case is not like them....nd also we hve to think abt the spectators who had paid for the entire day cricket...so nothing wrong wht sachin did
Re: Re: Re: Motera Pitch
by SHARAD on Nov 20, 2009 08:53 PM
Girish, that is the case in all such instances when the game is called off. Never are 11 men from both teams on the ground.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Motera Pitch
by Jay on Nov 20, 2009 09:37 PM
It is not mandatory that when one captain wants, match should be called off. The last hour is optional if both captains agree. There is no point of interest for SL to continue, so they will not. I am not sure why Indians are trying to find fault on themselves when there is no such case here.

there is nothing wrong in what sachin did. he deserved the century. he played really well.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Motera Pitch
by S Shrikanth on Nov 20, 2009 09:36 PM
This way he deserves a century in every innings he wants and all Indian players should support him when he wants to make his centuries. Matches will be played onluy for adding his oersonal records and benefit his sponsors.
Laxman was more fluent today and he could have made his century much earlier. But he played many maiden overs so tha Tendulkar gets his ventury.
If Tendulkar is adamant on making such kind of centuries, just begging for the mercy and at the cost of his team members, let him make. But they are of no value.
Today's century was a fake century. Everyone knew there was no result of the match after Tea and Tendulkar himself should had asked to call off the game. But for him his century was more important than anything. Such a lusty and mean fellow.
So there you go even Dhoni and jaya themselves said that the pitch did not assist Spinners or Pacers later from third day.No wonder Sachin's mouth watered seein such track and he scored a ton.

When the pitch was new and there was dew on the ground, he was bowled for 4.
He was scared to bat in twilight time and the captain had to send Amit Mishra instead. Today he came after the grund was dry and pitch was lifeless, and crawled like a snail just to make his century.

Sachin was struggling to make last 10 runs . It took him 30 to 40 minutes to score those last 10 runs of his 43rd century. Not sign of a great player
Re: Re: Re: So
by Johnson David on Nov 20, 2009 08:47 PM
This is a TEST match, not a one day cricket or T20. No need to accelerate the innings unless its required. And also, there was no result expected in the match. He played sensibly.
Re: Re: Re: So
by Rangarajan Iyengar on Nov 20, 2009 08:36 PM
Its amusing that people are still evaluating Sachin to determine if he is indeed a great player or not. He struggled for his last 10 runs and hence not a great player. Is that the implication? All great players have struggling moments in an innings - they are only human.

This is called lust for personal landmarks.
Tomorrow you will see full page ad by his sponsors congratulating him for his this irrelevant century,

@pradeep : Did you see the match ? Te Lankans were bowling 2 feet outside off, and Herath was bolwing one feet outside leg stump ? Some wides were called too. It is better to remain silent and appear foolish then to speak out and remove all doubts.

I'm not a big fan of Sachin, but this innings demands respect from all of us. Every century that Indians made in this match are priceless. If it is not for Dravid and Dhoni in the first innings, we might have lost inside four days. And Gautam and Sachin saved the day for India in the second. Be reasonable in bashing Sachin.
Re: Re: So
by koothoor paul on Nov 20, 2009 08:59 PM
why nobody appreciates the great innings played by Dravid. Actually he should have got the man of the match award. If not for hundred and 77 even sachin could not have saved the match
Re: Re: So
by S Shrikanth on Nov 20, 2009 09:44 PM
On this pitch Amit Mishra batted for 2 hours!
Sachin did not save the day. Gambhir, Mishra and the dry pitch had already saved the day. Yes, If India would had lost Laxman, Dhoni, Harbhajan by Tea, and yet Tendulkar had carried till the draw, the credit would had gone to him.
In this match there were 300 runs scored for 2 wickets only. Any batsman could have scored on this pitch and saved his team for the day,

Dhoni is trying hard to save his buddy Harbhajan. He is supposed to be main strike bowler, but he can't take a wicket. He needs square turner to add to his tally. Why Pragyan Ojha isn't playing??? I mean can he do any worse?? At least a yung bowler will get a chance.Shame on dirty Indian politics.

hi, you are blaming harbhajan for not taking wickets. what do you want to say about murali making a century in the 4 th innings and not taking any wicket?
Re: Re: Re: Dhoni, please do us a favor
by Kalinga Putra on Nov 20, 2009 09:05 PM
I wouldn't comment on Murali because that's Lanka prerogative.Harbhajan plays for India and he is supposed to win us matches. If he can't let's find a replacement. Why some shall be treated as Brahmins in Indian cricket??
