Nothing Great on Debut
by Chalte Jao on Nov 13, 2009 07:11 PM  | Hide replies

On his debut in Pakistan, Sachin did nothing great. The fact that India didn't lose the match was because Sanjay Manjrekar made a match saving century. In that series, the only Indian to shine was Sanjay Manjrekar.

You are right Sandeep Kumar. "Chalte Jao" would have a 'yellow patch' on his rear-end facing Akram's deadly bouncers. Wasim Akram single handedly sealed Srikkanth's playing career with his 11-sticthes on his eye-brow that he retired after that....

By the way, "Chalte Jao", nobody displays greatness and earns your respect overnight. It is to be earned and the art of doing the right things by taking the lead, being in-charge and making the team win.

How many times has he stood out like a solid rock in the middle of ruins. Remember there's only ST in the team not 11.

Cricket being a team and a mind game: One individual standing tall (no pun intended!) for 20 long years is no mean feat....

Give the guy his due credit yaar!

How many times he has made you jump from your couch and dance on your feet and hug strangers on street for winning the cup and match for India???? Remember..

Hero Worship
by Baikaar on Nov 13, 2009 07:04 PM  | Hide replies

Praise, Praise and Praise. This is what the so-called 'Little Master' wants. Only he and he alone should hold all the possible records, let the Indian team should go to hell!

After scoring 175 in the Chennai game Sachin threw away his wicket in a bid to get to his record of highest ODI score by an Indian. India lost the match due to his selfishness.

Just look into the game's history to learn what the great players like Don Bradman and others did in their little carriers without helmets, life-guards and tons of money.

They played out of their skin for their teams without bothering about the records.

They were not selfish, they played for fans and their teams. They were games Icons and Idol-worshiped like Tendulkars of today.

Mind you it was not the young Sachin who put Indian team nearly on Top but other young guns led by Dhoni, Yuvraj, Sehwag, Gambhir, Raina, Bhajji and others.

Even in the just-concluded series, it was not the so-called 'Master-Blaster' who brought victory in two games. In these matches Sachin's contribution was nearly zero.

Baikaar:

Don Bradman and others played with the equipment available during their time. And the bowlers too bowled accordingly. :)

Remember a certain bodyline series? What happened to the batsmen then? :)

Don Bradman is cherished by cricket fans and so is Sachin. That doesn't make Don selfless and Sachin selfish. :)

Mind you whenever India played well as a team (much before Dhoni even began playing cricket), India did well.
Guess why? Coz cricket is a team game. Hope Hyderabad match taught you at least this fact. :)
India lost the match because your so-called "young guns" threw away their wickets much before Sachin did. :)

If all you can remember of his 20 years career is the recent ODI series, then you need some serious memory exercises. :)

Today Times of India has 3 pages coverred with Sachin Praise but I could not find Ranji score being played between Baroda and Bengal.Sachin is a great player but why are we making him above cricke.Vishwanathan Anand,Leander Paes and Abhinav Bindra have done more proud to India than Sachin. And Big B fecilitating only cricketers that to retired cricketers like Gvaskar and Vishy who are brother in-law to each other.Though I have great respect for all cricketers but why this hoopla only about cricket.Shame on Cricket Dalals,You are not less than fanatic religious leaders who exploit poor peolpe of India.I still Shiver when I recall our legend P T Usha had to cry for a descent accomodation.Shame on cricket frenzy.

Whats wrong with Cricket? Its everyones religion, and unlike the PT ushas who won only in Asian level, we have team India which won 2 world cups(in 83 and 2007). We should be proud of the passion, and having the most talented set of youngsters. WHich country has the likes of ishant and harbhajan who tasted success in their early 20's? Not to mention dhoni, yuvraj, sharma etc.
Cricket is our religion, Sachin is our god. Lara and ponting are by far 2 and 3. Sachin=1!!

it seems many of these writers may not be even 20 years are might have no knowledge of cricket or most selfish and overjealous people ours is the only country in the world who criticise their own people when it comes to merit sachin must be having more admirers outside india. please go to any ground in india or abroad you ask a aspiring cricketer he will always wanted to be sachin. many playing cricketers also makes him a idol . please salute him for his achievement and try to behave like sachin in common places instead of arguing

Most of young cricketers want to be like Sachin because most of the fools made them to believe that cricket must be played like sachin!!!!That is Winning is not important!!!!!
But for anyone who want his team to win must play like Kapil or Steve Waugh, Michal Bevan etc.
The fact is :Sachin didn't change any cricketing history for Indian cricket. He has only individual records to boast of (by all the idiots).Shame on these useless fellows.

Sachin is one player. So the only thing he can boast of is his records.

Did you watch the Hyedrabad match? That has been Indian cricket's history for many many years. So your statement that Sachin didn't change any cricket history is no news. :)
Kapil played and his team played in 1983. Never thereafter. Result?
And don't even talk about the Australian TEAM. It always played like a team, and even does now, with youngsters filling in the shoes of injured players.
Any other "useless fellows" comments? :)

In the Hyderabad match, f you watched the period between the fall of Harbhajan's wicket to Tendulkar's wicket, you would possibly see that the Aussies used Jadeja to get Tendulkar. Jadeja, with his poor cricket judgment failed to rotate the strike, making Tendulkar lose his rhythm. India had a chance even after Tendulkar was out. Jadeja ran himself out in a most stupid fashion. It was there that India lost the game. Talking about finishers, most finishers are the guys who bat at no. 5 or no.6. To expect the guy who bats at no.1 or no.2 to be there at the end of such a mammoth chase is too much. It reflects very badly on the other 10 players. By the way in Hyderabad,Tendulkar scored 175. The other 10 batsmen and extras scored 172. This should put the whole thing in perspective.
Talking about failures, how many of us haven't had our share of failures. Let us be fair. He is someone extraordinary, but he is fallible.

He never contributes when needed - I mean when India's a goner and we need a major innings. Not a finisher. He's the champion of individual records - one more useless record meaningless 30000 runs in Intl cricket. Kya faayda, India has only been losing anyway.

he has highest man of the mantch & man of the series than any other player in the world. The problem is he is in Indian team not in Australia or South Africa where other players also contribute to win. Only batting doesn't give wins you should be also good in bowling & fielding.

Thanks for your most ill-informed comments. :)

When a player plays in a team game, he is contributing. When Dhoni scores a 124, it adds to team score. When Sachin scores a 175, it adds to team score. When Nehra takes a wicket it contributes to team performance.
It does NOT show selfishness. It shows performance.
