lanka n board pres xi match
by vinay on Nov 14, 2009 10:58 AM

the practice match for lanka n board pres xi was abandoned with poor ground conditions.
what the bcci officials cud hv done was that they cud hv shifted the venue of the practice match from bandra to the new mumbai - dy patil stadium where the 7th odi was cancelled.

after the rain had stopped, play cud hv started on that ground, it was better to get some play for lanka n also for our fringe players to show case their talent.

Sachin - the gentleman cricketer
by edwin fernandez on Nov 14, 2009 04:04 AM

The world recognizes Sachin Tendulkar as a batting phenomenon, a run-making machine, Little Master et all. But the fact remains that in spite of tasting so much success in his career, he has not changed. He has been the gentle cricketer we all learnt to love and watch. He has been a reason why many people prayed. He had a reason why many kid drank milk.

Let us pay tributes to this great human being who happened to be a great cricketer.

Mr UnRational AND Chetak Bajaaj
by super hero on Nov 14, 2009 04:01 AM  | Hide replies

Reading ur commments(arguemnst), i understood the jist of ur arguments. Let me put it straight to u.

1)U believe Sachin plays for records, but the team management is not realizing this point where even T&D' s like u ppl can understand.
That case u ppl should have more cricketing brains than Captain and others, which makes ur argument ridiculous.
2) Or u ppl say, Sachin is influentical abt his position and Dhoni takes all other decisions. In the recent series, dhoni stated the best man should be given a chance to play more deliveries, so Sachin opens.
Now if ur theory is right, what sort of person is dhoni? souless to make such statement?..a politican to lie to hang on to his place? u say he is toothless to decide sachins position, is he so spineless that he has to lie?
Do dare to explain me understand the motive of dhonis statement? If u say dhoni genuinely said it, then my point 1 is valid

Your addressing shows most of Sachin's fans are bigots. Can't tolerate critisizm of their God. You assume is BCCI is a perfect fair comitee and all those who are not in BCCI are brainless scum. BCCI depends on sponsorors and sponsorors depend on fans and Indian fans are hero worshipping bigots.
You say Sachin should open according to Dhoni. Ok. Let him open in tests also like how Sehwag does. It seems Dhoni and you know only one strategy that "best batsman should play more deliveries".

haha UnRATIONAL,
ppl who can understand cricket can know, no4 is the best position in a test match..
The job of openers in tests is to get the shine off the ball and negaotiate first session..

Tendulakr can do the job of a test opener to if the team India needs that..but whole of the nation and dhoni want him to bat at no.4

Looks like Sachin should open to prove Mr.Unrational..I am sure that must be the first thing in his mind..lol...

Nothing feels great than being a world champion

Would you like to be a sachin tendulkar with 0 world cup in your pocket or Matthew Hayden/Adam Gilchrist/Andrew Symonds/Shane Warne/Glenn McGrath/Ricky Ponting/Steve Waugh with good career but not as great as Sachin statistically but then multiple world cups in their pocket?...I guess I don't think on this...I blindly go with second option...

Patel:

If Sachin had even three more players with him the story would have been different. :)

Australia won the World Cups because they played as a TEAM. India sadly relies solely on Sachin and then you come out with these funny statements. :)

Tell me something - If you take out Sachin's contributions from all the matches played so far, what leads you to believe that we would have won a World Cup? :)

There is something called rebuilding process...every team in every sports has up and down movement but they try to keep up with their up time and they rebuild when they are down...since 1983 I don't see any change...come on guys...you need 28 years to bring a change n that is only true if India wins in 2011 world cup or 32 years if 2015 or you don't know how many more...i m not blaming sachin but the whole system and sachin is part of that too...he is master with his bat but he is not master of game...he lacks aggression on the field...see history of any sports and look at star players of those teams...they r not only talented but aggressive too...tell me which one of the australian cricketer i named above is not more aggressive than sachin...michael jordan on the basketball court...zidan on soccer field...these all have been great champions...i count lack of aggression is why sachin hasnt won world cup and why india has failed to build a championship team around him since last 20 years...i m also part of that blame as i have lost confidence in my team...i care for india's win and i would rather like to see change even if we do bad than what we have done in past 20 years but i m sick of watching same guys playing with the same result every time...n i m indian so at last that hope word is there what talisman has written...next win is coming in 2011 and then again in 2015...LETS AT LEAST HOPE....

HE has. But you guys do'nt give credit to them and belittle their contribution. So they won't play when Sachin contributes. See how Dhoni, Yuvraj, Raina,Gambir turned their backs on a batting beauty and let the dead pitch bully score all the runs and win by himself.

:) So why are you cursing the only one who tried? :)

Good logic. :)

But you are right. Dhoni, Yuvraj, Gambhir turned their backs. Coz it was NOT a batting track. :)

To answer your question, most people would want to be Sachin - worldcup win #1 is coming in 2011 and the next one in 2015.

anyways, me going for the night...bajaaj and irrational can continue writing their impositions that "sachin is powerful but dhoni is powerful" and also "sachin shud open in tests and not open in ODIs"

For all that u guys keep saying, the fact remains that sachin is a legend acknowledged by all cricketing greats, and also the fact that he will continue to play, and the fact that we will enjoy his cricket...so no problem if u want to continue ur rhetoric !

AP, it was nice having a like-minded supporter. See ya around !

"Great batsmen" should play in any position that team requires them to play.

This is what I am meaning to say to these Sachuuuu's.

One correction...
"Great batsmen" should play in any position that (team requires them to play) contributes to the Teams success which can be taken by a player like Tendulkar (Not youngsters like Ravindra Jadeja or Raina or Gambhir) who has so much INFLUENCE/EXPERIENCE in the Team.
But, sadly Tendulkar has never done this and that's why he is debated like this inspite of scoring nearly 30,000 runs in International cricket.

he is debated only becoz of the lack of cricketing knowledge of a couple of bloggers - no less no more.

FYI he is playing in the position that the team requires him to play - so there !

Rahul Bajaj:

:) Great batsmen should force their captains to change batting order according to what THEY think is right. :)

By the way, you are free to debate whatever you want to debate. :)

Who stops you? :)
