i dont know why people are dragging sachin into this
by vikash agarwal on Nov 10, 2009 04:13 PM

this article is about bollinger..
anyways, my 2 cents on the subject...

sachin has a place in the team as has dhoni or anyone else.. the question is that is each one of them doing his job?
if someone is saying that sachin's performance is not consistent and he needs to be dropped, lets consider why sehwag or raina are playing, they are also specialist batsmen, and their perofrmance is no better than sachin. just because he is sachin, a legend, he doesnt have to make a century in every macth to prove his worth. if i look at it from an opportunity cost perspective, whats teh best alternative to replace sachin - rohit sharma, leave aside that series in australia, but what has he proved in the numerous opportunities given to him. same applies to virat kohli and others. lets face it badrinath etc are not tested and they cant fill in the boots of a legend in one match.
australia has a great bench strength, was it achieved by dropping ponting, hussey and anyone who is more than 33 years old? no, it was built gradually over time, through a good rotation policy and more than that a great domestic system, that is competitive and allows players to gain experience and mature..
unlike here, wherein we have players coming into the team straight from u-19 teams, without any experience...
and lets not talk abt dhoni's selection policies or his captaincy.. his captaincy is uninspiring.. we are still playing as individuals and not as a team... and thats our biggest downfall..

Try bench players atleast in last match !
by Ganesh on Nov 10, 2009 04:00 PM

Anyway India lost series.

Can't we atleast give rest to some of the guys who played brilliantly and gave away the match in the end in 4 ODIs we lost and atleast give chance in one ODI to our bench players please ?

V.Sehwag
G.Gambhir
S.Tendulkar
Y.Singh
S.Raina
M.S.Dhoni (C & WK)
R.Jadeja
P.Kumar
H.Singh
A.Mishra
S.Tyagi^^^

A.Nehra (12th man)

Reserves:

M.Patel
I.Sharma

^^^ In July 2009, Sudip Tyagi was one of the bowlers chosen in the "Indian Emerging Players" squad that toured Australia, where the team played against their peers from Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. Tyagi emerged by far the best bowler on show during that tournament (that too playing on foreign soil in Australia), grabbing 14 wickets in 6 matches. Tyagi's strong upper body is built along the lines of his UP colleague Praveen Kumar but he is a few yards quicker in pace than him also.

Why can't we atleast try him in 1 match against Aussies ?

Until we try by giving him chance how can we know about his potential or calibre or performance (whatever it maybe) ?

Anyway we lost series, nothing else is there to lose now, Whether we lose 5-2 or 4-3 , the cup will go to Ponting and his boys only. So we can atleast give chance to players on bench like Sudhp Tyagi and Amit Mishra (whole series he didnt get 1 chance also). Isn't this okay friends ?

My team for tommorow.

Sehwag is of no use by the way,
If he can't play like a matured cricketer despite of having talent, he should be dropped...as simple as that

you! Ok tell us who has win a game on his own so far, without the support of rest 10 players?
Can you...you win a match (if you play any team game) on your own. for that you'll need to bowl all 50 overs, (that is impossible), to bat all 50 overs, (that you can't without another player), field all over the ground (if you have the stamina). Say, can you do this?

Babbar

He is working on that issue to raise his game to the next level.

He will soon be prepared and you'll see him scoring 351 to win us the match. :)

Till then you'll have to make do with his 117, 91, 163*, 138 type innings where India won the match.. :)

Sounds fair?.. :)

Yes Shammi... even T20 world cup India won without GOD in team :-).God stayed out of the team inorder to help Dhoni and his team play with all youngsters like Rohit Sharma, Sreesanth, Yusuf Pathan, and Jogindher Sharma etc... to win the 1st T20 world cup ever held :-)

:) GOD again stayed out of the Second T20 World Cup. And we won it in the first match itself. All the opposition teams unanimously decided to stop playing and better hand over the cup straightaway to the youngsters. :)

"We can Win without Sachin" is not the same as "Sachin is a hero who can't win a single match on his own" comment from Babbar (to which I was replying incidentally).

"All crows are black" doesn't mean "All black things are crows".

First lesson in logic. :)

PS: I am sure you knew it all along, so it was tongue in cheek potshot at the likes of Babbar, so pardon me if it sounded like an insinuation. :)

Same way another logic buddy.

A carpenter who can craft/make 10 wooden tables in 10 days (is not a great thing. Anyways a carpenter's job is woodcraft. Thats his occupation).

But what is great and noteworthy is when a painter (who can also do a bit of woodwork) does something similar or atleast close to that or better than that in same or less time (i.e. a painter who can make those 10 tables in 10 days is great).

A "specialist" batsman (that too an opener who has 50 overs ahead of him to score his runs) scoring for India is good, but that is anyways his JOB or expected of him,

but a wicketkeeper (who can also bat) for India (who comes in middle order and less overs to bat or get set) who scores centuries or runs is a great achievement.

Dhoni (our wicket keeper who can also bat) hit 124 runs in 2nd ODI in this series and that helped India win that match (else we would now be 5-1 down (i.e. 5 matches down in this series now).

This wicket keeper batsman (who is also the highest scoring Indian this year and also first and only Indian to cross 1000 runs this year) is also leading run scorer for India in this series now with 325 runs from 6 matches so far.

Wicket keeper achieving so much for India in his batting is greater than regular or specialist batsman achieving.

:) Good. By the same logic Harbhajan is a great batsman too. :)

And Praveen Kumar is the current Master Blaster. :)

These guys aren't even renowned by ICC, Dhoni is the current #1 ICC batsman and these two tail enders have scored at a striker rate that is phenomenal.

Isn't it? :)

Mr Suresh..please have a look on these finals please:

134 against Australia (145 in league against the same where run rate was considered to reach in the final)…result India won!

126* against Zimbabwe….result India won!
100* Kenya…result India Won!
41 on just 26 balls (in 1998)..result India won!
A match against Africa (may be titan cup or coca cola cup) by his clever bowling where just three runs were needed, but he didn’t give those…result …India won!
91 against Australia followed by 109* in first final…result India won!
128 against Sri lanka (record 1st wicket partnership with ganguly of 258 runs)..result India won!
138 against Sri Lanka in Compaq cup (just before CT) result..india won!
Highest run scorer in two world cups, in one world cup, he was nominated Man of the tournament. (if you know the meaning of MOM, you’ll know it’s given to a player who is particularly the best in the match)
In this WC is they couldn’t win, it’s because of the captain who chose field in a final and the target was over 350. Until then a few targets were chased over 300.
..now..in those finals India lost..what other 10 batsmen were doing there, Ganguly, Dravid, Dhoni, Yuvi, Sehwag and all..why didn't they make India win?

More besides, Mr Suresh, your figures also show that India could win just one tournament without Sachin's contribution, whereas my figures show india won 7 finals where Sachin performed well. this means India is highly depend on Sachin, if he does well India win, if he doesn't, I ndia looses.

1. People (cricket fans) will keep to watch India-Sri Lanka series, despite their heartbreaking show against the Aussies.......though indian fans did lots of abusing, cursing to indian team.....but as indian team will never improve on their performance so the people.

2. Now Indian Team will be able to defeat the Sri Lankan team both in Test series and ODI....

3. Indian Team (Dhoni & co.) will start to raoar again like they are playing continuously good.....media will come out with news like India the World No. 1 team (though it will again end after two match).....Also the people who were just putting all their hating words here and there, will start again to praise individuals and team.

4. With this tour (Test & ODI series) win, fans will again think that this team has improved.....India will loose next series.....Indian team media & fans will be back to bash them.
