it was very much required for dhoni and his crooks.... these young cricketers , when they get publicity and money , become extravagant , get indulged in various vices, like girls, drinks......they give their hard life and take up sophisticated lusty life and loose their morale and physical fitness.... australians are undoubtedly world champions... well done ponting and your b grade team

sachin has a place in the team as has dhoni or anyone else.. the question is that is each one of them doing his job?
if someone is saying that sachin's performance is not consistent and he needs to be dropped, lets consider why sehwag or raina are playing, they are also specialist batsmen, and their perofrmance is no better than sachin. just because he is sachin, a legend, he doesnt have to make a century in every macth to prove his worth. if i look at it from an opportunity cost perspective, whats teh best alternative to replace sachin - rohit sharma, leave aside that series in australia, but what has he proved in the numerous opportunities given to him. same applies to virat kohli and others. lets face it badrinath etc are not tested and they cant fill in the boots of a legend in one match.
australia has a great bench strength, was it achieved by dropping ponting, hussey and anyone who is more than 33 years old? no, it was built gradually over time, through a good rotation policy and more than that a great domestic system, that is competitive and allows players to gain experience and mature..
unlike here, wherein we have players coming into the team straight from u-19 teams, without any experience...
and lets not talk abt dhoni's selection policies or his captaincy.. his captaincy is uninspiring.. we are still playing as individuals and not as a team... and thats our biggest downfall..

as expected sachin has a poor series, he is more predictible now.. he takes 3 or 4 matches to get into the rhythem no matter how friendly the attack is and in one of the flattest pitches he scores a hundred to fulfill his own desire to score 50 one day hundreds...people understand cricket in india...and sachin is no different to them than any other player in the team now...he lost most of his attacking strokes, lost his footwork also, cant play quality pace attack early in the innings because of lack of footwork...and frequently getting out early in the innings...he is not flexible in his approach to bat down the order...disturbing sehwag-gambir combination at the opening position....most importantly he is not Rahul Dravid in terms playing for the team needs...Dravid is more capable batsman than sachin at this stage for team india...it is quite clear and we have to accept it..his ability to play under pressure against quality pace attack...innnings building capability...holding the innigs till the end and developing partnerships while setting the target or chasing the target makes Dravid more valuable player than sachin, he has prooved that over the years for team india by thorough performences under difficult situations and challenging roles such as keeping weeket for 50 overs....It's a big blunder committed by BCCI and selection committe to drop him for this series...sachin is not a crucial point for indian success or failure .. he is quite an average player right now...

Good. We need Average Players right now.

It will be a great achievement and positive step from the Poor players we've got today. :)

im from australia and i'd like to thank all indians for a good series that was played in a great spirit witch was great to see. Game 5 was a highlight and i do wish sachin could have won it for india as he deserved it. That game proved that it dosnt matter how many runs you score you have to bowl well against india. Australia are the triple world champions in ODI's and double champion trophy holders but i think india will rise with the young talent coming through to challenge us at the next world cup. Good luck.

Didn't know that Australians spelt "which" as "witch".

As a true Aussie supporter, you definitely want India to win, so that spirit of yours is admirable too. :)

There was offcourse show of grace and talent in the side but application lacked from day one of the tournament. Well , even though they did pretty well to loose for only 4 runs. thanx to bhaji and praveen. Atleast some kind of confidence would have crept up to them and the country that we can bat deep till No.9 . But 1st match lets say , it was due to shrugging off the holiday season . Then 2 in a row made India a little easy on the next 2 . Then onwards there was lack of application and committment . All showed very well on the field. and in batting. Admitting the fact that we were short of a spear head bowler but i think Dhoni could utilise of what was available. To sum up . Not too bad a contest ! but considering the fact that Australia was not that a full strength side and as a bonus we got 4 players packed off with injuries back to australia , WE SHOULD'NT have let them walk away with the series .
INDIAN BOYS - All believe INDIA is a great talent all around . But APPLICATION IS THE KEY.
ALL THE BEST FOR FUTURE .
