Dravid was dropped because he was a slow batsman
by India Shining on Nov 09, 2009 09:49 AM  | Hide replies

Dravid was very slow and I can prove it. His career strike rate of 72 in 339 ODIs and strike rate in many matches of over 100 is definitely slower than Dhobi's blazingstrikerate of 30 yesterday and a slightly slower 50 by Ravindra Jadeja. The slowest yesterday was Praveen Kumar with a SR of over 100.

For sure this teamnothindiano is going to bring home the trophy and win 5-2 as Bhajji had predicted. We have to thank our dear capitano MSDhobi for that and touch his feet. Infactsouthindians have to disappear from cricket as onlynorthindianos know how to play the game. Bravo Dhobi Bravo.. May you lead Indian cricket to all new highs (20,000 leagues under the sea)

5-2 Series win...................!!!!! -- By M/S Harbhajan cont..
by RASESH BHAGWATI on Nov 09, 2009 09:45 AM  | Hide replies

Are we consistent enough or professionals enough to bat on a wet pitch? We are a bunch of overconfident, with a careless attitude and irresponsbile indivuals who rarely perform as a team! I do not know on what basis MS chose to bat 1st where the onus was on the bowlers early on esp. 1st hour or so.
2nd thing is SRT should be told to cut down on ODI's and play tests to prolong his career (this refers to his demi-god like fans) and to people who know facts, the truth is he can ear more money that time also!!! I am also a fan on SRT but, as a senior member and mentor he should be like a finisher and should have finished the game in Hyd. with 19 to get of 17 balls with 5 wickts in hand. Any team would have won in that position. But, India as everyone knows is very famous in doing the impossible and making a fool of themselves. Even if the target is simple consider India to make a simple target heavy and then, win (if possible only)!!!!! Same happend in Hyd. as we could have won. But, Raina and SRT messed it with poor shot selection and Aussies won. More than Aussies, the Indian Team should be congratulated to gift Aus a win. Powerplay wasnt taken early on! God and only MSD knows that!!!!! 2 well-settled batsmen in Raina and SRT should have taken the powerplay early on but, it wasnt to be!
SRT may be a great batsmen but, Steve W. and BCL are far more superior and great finishers than SRT.
It might be SRT's superlative or his best ever but, he didnt finish the game for India!!!!

Choosing to bat first was a bad decision
by Sameer Bhagwat on Nov 09, 2009 09:43 AM  | Hide replies

It is a known fact that the Guwahati pitch has juice in the first hour. With a chance of losing 4-5 wickets in the first hour, why did Dhoni elect to bat first? Is it because he didn't have any confidence that the team can chase?

Nice question.
just wanted to remind you that today's media also has hyped dhoni and his skills.
when the team wins , although its a team effort ... it is always dhoni's captaincy that is praised.
when the team loses, even if dhoni himself plays badly, the blame goes to the whole team and never to himself.
if dhoni was not selfish , he could have seen to it that dravid was not dropped .. atleast after his recall recently. but he wants yes men... that is why he keeps on geting the jadejas and bhajjis.
go figure

5-2 Series win.........................!!!!! -- By M/S Harbhajan
by RASESH BHAGWATI on Nov 09, 2009 09:32 AM

5-2 win was the prediction by Harbhajan. Silly, isnt it? 1st of all he should be told that you are out of team and learn to bowl properly as you have a strike rate of winning games for India every 15th Match he plays!!!
Many players in our team (whose batting looks great only on paper and is a joke otherwise!!) take their places for granted thinking that they wont be troubled by the selectors! And so, the sense of commitment and discipline are lacking from our team as they play only for themselves to get cash rich and not for the country!! Shame on you guys!
Winning or losing are part and parcel of sport. But, its the way in which one wins or loses. I cant think of only 12-25 matches where we have won comprehensively!!
This is coz we are neither proffesionals nor disciplined in our commitment. Dont know whether we are committed or not!!
I think that our Team took Aussies too lightly after their tryst with injuries and would have thought that we can win easily. But, that wasnt the case!!
"And there will be more such defeats in the future as it is cricket and anything can happen." So, fans expect some more losses like this says MSD indirectly!!
On a wicket where one should have decided to field 1st due to early morning moisture and dew we chose to bat and gave away wickets on a platter.
If a player is on bench for some time he would take some time to adjust but, Aussies are tough and adjust very fast. Compare this with Doug and our own Munaf!! Latter had a torrid time.

dhoni's selections.
by nadim modak on Nov 09, 2009 09:26 AM  | Hide replies

i know a lot of u may not believe it. But the selectors always try to give the best team possible to the captain. which also means that if all things are equal , then they will give the captain the player that the captain wants. Dhoni always wanted his own set of players and indirectly he always created these tensions.
That is why Ganguly retired from cricket coz he knew that with Dhoni around he will always be mistreated.
Dravid is also facing it. after a decent show ( not a great one ) he is still out of the team.
Kumble could have been told to carry on as he still is better than Bhajji. These are the players who helped us come close to the good ranking that we have.
and of course, Laxman. he is not a t20 player but he definitely should play one dayers.
Can anyone tell me honestly with these players, could we have lost some of the games that we lost by a few runs here and there.
As far as consisitency is concerned, we cannot expect anything form the new batsmen. yuvi, dhoni , sehwag... all of them have the excellent records of a century and then single digit scores.. sometimes even ducks.
any comments anyone.
i dont think with current team we can get no 1 ranking.

If u luk @ temas like Australia,SA & recently SL , most of their players who are new to International T20's r ODI's have performed, but Indian selectors always have 4 r 5 players in 15 member squad , who are given a long run in the team , despite their failures..... examples are many like V.Kohli, Ajit.A, Vinod Kambli.

I personally feel IPL shd b scrapped bcoz EPL & UEFA Champions League are club football games, where countries don't have any bilateral series and countries are represented only in Asian,Olympics, World cup r Conferadation Cup.

When players are getting injured often with so many games especially with atleast 30 to 45 ODI's in a year & atleast 10 to 15 Tests & so many T20's ......

I think Board shd not look @ money earned for them thru IPL & champions League. Its the well-being of players that is more important.... T20 WC's loss for India was due to Injuries t Key player like Sehwag and tiredness caused to players by playing in IPL... which was accepted by captain Dhoni.....

unknown
simple reason...
by unknown on Nov 09, 2009 09:26 AM

So Dhoni had to say that opting for bat after winning the toss wasn't a bad decision in Guwahti....we (India) lost match becoz batsman didn't apply themselves for initial 10 overs.

Absoultly right Dhoni...your decision wasn't wrong....but there is one thing wrong for surely and its your interfere in team selection.

Dhoni gets the player in, whom he wants....while in the team selection of Australia there is no favour of any player by ponting to play in team....Yeah, its right he (ponitng) suggests his choice of player but finally its selectors who decide whom to play or not.

While in Indian team, Dhoni asks selectors whom he wants or not in the team....and as it happens then once after getting in the team player knows he just has to please his very caring captain (Dhoni) and he has no threat even after dismal performances.

On the other hand Dhoni knows just gives the dose of young players for fresh approach to cricket fans, brings them in the team and backs up them.....at least they (players) won't go against of you and you can be captain of team.

Indian team is nothing else just another (political) party, which has all people (players) to support each other.

lost due to unbalanced side
by v ashwin on Nov 09, 2009 09:20 AM

india lost the battle to Aussies as team was not balance.selectors have not done their due.there was no seamer who was able to pressurize aussies while in aussies were having some good bowlers like Siddle who in patches bowled well.indian bowlers lack depth in final overs..they don't bowl to their feild.there was time when there plenty of bowlers like sreesanth, zaheer, ishant, kulkarni, phatan
now we don't see these bowlers in all matches..either they r left out or nursing for some injury..while u see any other team they r beside the bowler which build his confidence ..so Dhoni should learn that fast other wise some one like me will be writtin such comment after another world cup debbacle.
