England has just found a very good one drop batsman in Ravi Bopara. But, the traditional English method is not to let any one settle into a role and flourish. If they can play a settled team consistently for a few years they have the talent to reach the very top.
It is very disappointing to see such a dispirited and lackluster effort by the Windies. They played like a bunch of homesick schoolboys who have been flogged for bad behavior.
I do not accept Michael Holding's view that they were troubled by the new white ball because it bounces so differently from the red. That's a schoolboy's wimpy excuse.
These are professions who need to be able to make the necessary adjustments. Where is their usual aggression? Their fiery confidence? Their resourceful adjustments?? Sad to say but they play like a bunch of puny Yanks.
