It's a concern !
by Dire Straits on May 19, 2009 03:35 AM

Although I don't give a damn about performances in the IPL, Sehwag's poor form with the bat in the ongoing tournament is an issue. And that's because the T20 World Cup is starting from the next month. Sehwag is an extremely key player for us in all forms of the game, and his performance in the upcoming T20 World Cup will be very crucial for India.

Match Fixing IPL
by sweet orange on May 18, 2009 03:57 PM  | Hide replies

Its clear that a few matched in IPL were fixed. Teams losing from winning positions, teams winning from losing positions, good bowlers bowling badly, non-regular bowlers taking hatricks repeatedly, teams losing by one run, two runs etc etc. In cricket such things happen but not as frequently as they have happened in this IPL. Match after match you cannot have a close contest. Something is definitely fishy. So guys watch d IPL for fun but dont get sentimental like many people from mumbai got during mumbai-rajasthan match which I suspect was fixed.

Out of form players
by Reza Arif on May 18, 2009 01:47 PM  | Hide replies

Veeru, Gauti & Ishant are all woefully out of form .. the team should be reconsidered if we intend to put out best foot forward ...

Sachin, though not consistent, can be a useful & calming influence. Also, instead of Ishant, Nehra looks in good form and should be considered. English conditions will suit Nehra's swing bowling! We should think of playing Ravindra Jadeja instead of Bhajji. his contribution with the bat will be vital too. We have part time spinners anyway in Yuvraj & Rohit.

My ideal XI given below....

S Tendulkar
S Raina
Y Pathan
Rohit Sharma
Yuvraj Singh
MS Dhoni
R Jadeja
RP Singh
Zaheer Khan
A Nehra
I Pathan

Very simple.
Sehwag/Gauti/dhobi should be out based on thier form.

veeru gauti seems to b not much motivated !!
by jeet on May 18, 2009 12:28 PM  | Hide replies

it seems to me that these two guys r not having enough motivation to perform in IPL..both of these guys r not giving much effort wat they actually give while playing for the country. if anybudy observes then two times i have seen that gauti smiles in a naughty manner when he was facing ishant n munaf..n both of these guys r frnd of him..with sehwag also, he doesn't look disappointed when he gets out cheaply..now its imp for both of these guys to take the remaining game as the match practices before the IPL start..n i m sure they baoth can become omnious openers for indian team very soon..all the best u both bidus..chak de fatte..cheers

Playing Cricket without any brains

These two(Gauti and Viru) are playing 20-20 without using their brain..they play as if only 5 overs match they are playing. Stay in the wicket for at least 6 overs dude then you both will socre runs..

Veeru Gauti ??
by Sai Prakash on May 18, 2009 11:55 AM  | Hide replies

With our T20 openers in such terrible form, India will find it tough to defend its title at the T20 WC. Openers are the key in T20 matches. CSK and DC are doing well because of the good form of Gilchrist and Hayden.

The first 6 overs are very important becasue of the fielding restrictions for 6 overs. If the openers fail and the score is 20 for 2, the teams cannot go after the bowling and the early advantage goes to the bowling side.

In this IPL, only Raina and Sharma are looking good.Pathan, Gambhir, Sehwag and Jadeja are not all consistent.

Bad signs for India!!

I was having the same thoughts ... Very bad sign for India ... Gauti & Viru are desperately out of form ... Even Raina has not been as consistent as I wud hv liked .. His innings of 98 is making his average look good ... without that innings his avg is just around 22! Yusuf too is very inconsistent ... Only Rohit's form looks sparkling .. but other teams like South Africa are looking awesome with AB DeVilliers & JP Duminy looking in prime form and with support from Gibbs, Morkel Brothers, Kallis, Boucher, Graeme Smith, Botha, Van DeMerwe .. they should be the front runners for the tournament ...

One good thing for the Indians is that they again go into the tournament with not much hopes of victory ... and this worked in our favor last time!!!

If Australia throw their youngter out & all all oldies like Gilly/Hyden/Symonds etc, It will be a dengerous side.
Other dengerous side is NZ with hitters like Mclum, Tyler, Ryder, Oram, styris etc.
India has never won T20 against NZL. India need to call sachin back. Atleast he will perform better than Dhobi/Viru/Gauti etc.
