Should have implemented long time ago. Whats the point in giving wrong decisions when we have technology. Stakes are high of players which can make or break him, and most important changing the result of a match, a series, a world cup, and many more things. It is also frustating for the viewers who watch for 5 days and suddenly on the 5 th day one wrong decision by the umpire and the whole match, series, turns around for the teams. Therefore it is wise to implement the referral system, forget about the umpires ego, they are paid and if they dont like, sorry, make a back up of International umpires, training them, as lots of matches are played now. Take the spectators and viewers also into consideration.
I have some suggestions.... 1) provide the in field umpires with pocket monitors, where they can reveiw for themselves. not the third umpire. 2) make mandatory, every bat comes with strips attached with feather touch sensors attached to the two edges of it. every time the ball touches it, gives out some sort of signals , specific of a bat to ball touch, which could be detected in monitor. and umpire's decision becomes easier. 3) make a grey colured area down the pitch from one end to the other connecting the stumps.the umpires will easily make out , ball pitching outside leg, strikingthe pad outside of.

why to have ego. what is wrong if it is referred to third umpire
Cricket is a gentleman's game. if bowler can appeal, fielder can appeal, wicket keeper can appeal, even umpire can appeal then why not batsman. There is no harm in getting the truth
I think the umpires in the field are the best judges of any sort of decision.why don't they are not provided with a small tv sort of thing with them in the field. every time he has a doubt, he can always put out his small monitor and recheck. the odd nick he missed, or the inside edge he couldn"t see, not sure whether the ball pitched out side leg when making a lbw decision.in case of a referral, he has to refer. and there is always a communication gap. the 3 rd umpire is not sure what the in field umpire exactly wants.the walky talky is not always helpful.if the infielfd umpire has the technology with him, he doesn"t need to refer at all. he can give decisions of his own, albeit, after consultation with his pocket tv. How's that!!!
THE UMPIRING STANDARDS HAVE FALLEN TO PITIABLE LEVELS WITH SOME OF THE MOST INCOMPETENT UMPIRES OFFICIATING IN GAMES. THE IPL IN SOUTH AFRICA IS A GLAING EXMPLES WHERE FAULTY DECISIONS ARE MORE THE RULE THAN THE ACCEPTION.
REFERRALS ARE THE ONLY WAY OUT. THESE WILL HELP IMPROVE THE UMPIRING STANDARDS. IN FACT THIRD UMPIRE REFERRALS MUST BE INCREASED TO INCLUDE CATCHES,LBWs, STUMPINGS ET ALL.
umpires on the ground for discipline only rest by 3rd umpire only....its high time technology put into use & also instant decesions on chuckers...cheers
THE CATCH LINE HERE IS THAT SINCE UMPIRES ARE HUMANS THEY CAN ALSO MAKE MISTAKES , SO REFERRAL SYSTEM WOULD HELP TO REDUCE THE CHANCES OF INCORRECT DECISIONS.
REFERRAL SYSTEMS ARE ALREADY USED IN TENNIS AND HAVE BEEN QUITE SUCCESSFUL EVERY RUN EVERY WICKET CAN CHANGE THE MATCH RESULT SO REFERRAL SYSTEM BECOMES ALL THAT IMPORTANT AND MANDATORY
Just can't understand why this rule is not seen again. Its a very good system and must be taken into action. After committing mistakes umpires say sorry . what's the use of that. My VOTE towards taking accepting this rule.
All the corrupted and plagued laws of cricket have ever been made at Lord's, the home of ONE RULE FOR WHITES AND NO RULE FOR NON WHITES. Boycott Lord's - create a new body that fairly represents cricketing voices around the world. Lord's is currently struggling even to sell tickets for the T20 world cup warm up games and has even stooped low to offer ticket holders of 1st test between England and West Indies a 50% discount to ticketholders of fourth day's play. A desperate sign from any angle really.
