What are the prospects of the 8 teams this year?
by Orient Mystique on Mar 25, 2009 03:25 PM  | Hide replies

1. Vijay Mallya believes that by making KP and then JK captain in place of RD and by having 5 SA players, his team will be at an advantage this year, especially since the tourney is to be played in SA. I doubt this very much. KP belongs to SA and chose to play for England because of selection policies in SA. One is not sure how the SA players will play under KP's leadership in this background. I might have fancied better prospects for Bangalore team if Robin Uthappa would have been made captain, but now I would rather wait and watch.

2. KKR is neck deep in controversies (attempts to bury are so crude). SRK apprently has good knowledge about neither cricket nor business. I wouldn't be surprised if this team finishes at the bottom of the table in IPL-2009.

3. Gilly took over from Laxman midway last year. If Afridi, Symonds and Laxman are not included in the team this year, there is no reason why DC shouldn't make it to the semifinals.

4. There is hardly anything to choose between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils. DD is perhaps a shade better with openers Sehwag and Gambhir maintaining thier great form over the last few months.

5. That leaves RR, CSK and KXP sure to make it to the semifinals. Sceptics may look at law of averages and question certain aspects of these three teams. But to me it seems that the problems of these three teams are minimal in comparison to the rest.

May the best team win IPL-2009 in style!

KP will have only 3 other foreign players beside him so,, that shouldnt be a problem.

i think punjab kings 11 will be winners this time.

Are Kolkata & Rajasthan part of India?
by mandar on Mar 25, 2009 03:21 PM

Any sane Indian will not tolerate Pakistani to be included in Sports or Cultural activities of India. If Pakistanis are allowed, I think, the Indians should think of boycotting these games.

Indians can not tolerate the people from the country which wants to decimate our mother land through terrorism, fake currencies and driving in religious fanaticism. Indians should rise up and tell those nonsense owners of KKR and Jaipur teams to stop this ugly behaviour. This is really hurting the Indians. Pakistan is our enemy to the Core. This Nation has suffered & is suffering a lot from this Terrorist Nation.

Indians, please arise and tell these traitors that we will not tolerate Pakistanis in our acts.

I don't Pakistan players excluded cause tournament was supposed to be held in India (if that's so there are still many Pakistani national are in India).. It was more on ethical grounds.. if Rajasthan & KKR are really thinking of calling them.. that's loosing ethical grounds.. and I really would be ashamed of it.. It seems that for these two teams are going after money than ethics..

All these my comments only if above news is true.. I really don't trust rediff alone..

Guys,

I never in my blog said anything against muslims, I don't know why certain people think that Pakistan is nation of only Muslims, there are Hindu's, Catholics & Sikh's as well.

All I said was respect & support the govt's/BCCI's stand. And I was bit disappointed when I saw our people not supporting our govt's stand. If we don't rerspect ourselves why would anyone else? and it's not being political. I understand players are not terrorist, but my point here is not being against them, but being supportive of Indian govt's decision.

If I'm being against anyone here, then only those people who overlook govt's stand which many would believe is definitely sensible in this case.

This is my opinion & all of you have complete right to agree or disagree with it.

Sports has a big image than the Terrorism,
there is no terror to destroy or stop the sports and its lovers, so we all shud stand together against the terrorism and defend the sports. Sports invites loves and frendship in all over the country. If the players does any terror then we shoud ban them otherwise we dont have any right to judge each and everybody as a terrorist.

I don't know why SRK is so eager to promote Paki and Bangladeshi players.

He paid some whopping amount for some Bangladeshi boy, as if he could not find anybody in India.

Re: SRK
by Phakir Chand on Mar 25, 2009 01:17 PM
Don't make this about SRK, Royals and Challengers are also asking for their Paki players - it is all about money! Isn't Mallya a big national hero for getting back Gandhi's legacy back to India after an auction recently? Well, why is he now asking for Paki players?

And why would BCCI and Modi allow Paki players? They are hell bent on destroying all ICL players regardless of nationality; why not ban Paki players altogether from IPL? I am sure spineless ICC will fold (no pun intended) and not challenge BCCI on it.

"Money" is a bigger force than national pride and agenda right now for BCCI, IPL franchises and players... and guess what all Indian public will tune in the middle of the night and watch the damn games with Paki players. That's how the circle gets completed... to break it, don't watch games, don't buy jerseys and other merchandise from any team that has Paki player; from next season on the money forces will work to keep them out with no other restraint (political or philosophical) required.
