no match on voting day is acceptable.

But why no matches for entire period. Bear in mind at any given location in india voting is one day only.

India is when elections are there big money flows.
History sheeters file nominations.
They try to devide country on religion,Cast, language etc.
Then horse trading comes,
Then some puppet prime ministers.

India is run by 10 -15 % people work and do not get noticed at all. rest enjoy their jobs literally.

Let IPL a pure joy which does not devide nation be run properly. If IPL is all about money and sports.

Then elections is money power and crime.
What say guyz?....

Govt should support Indian Cricket League
by Ekalavyan Acharyan on Mar 23, 2009 09:27 PM

I think the monopoly of IPL and its discrimation policy with abetting from ICC, is what prompts IPL to change the venue at the drop of the hat. A major part of revenue comes from the TV, govt should ensure all parties are given due coverage without any discrimation. Promoting ICL at this stage is good for India and cricket as a whole.

IPL v/s Indian Democracy
by Ganesh Bangera on Mar 23, 2009 08:56 PM  | Hide replies

Indian players should demonstrate to prove that India & Indian Democracy is much larger than IPL,Modi & his cronies,by refusing to take part in IPL games if played abroad!
Remember all those heroes Lala Lajpat Rai,Lokmanya Tilak etc who refused to buy British goods during SWADESHI MOVEMENT!That should be the spirit of everyone including that of BJP leaders so called SWADESHI people.

Nice One and its very good. Why they are fighting and having so much EGO. Players should stay back to vote in india. Playing abroad is not going to help any one and i am sure its pressure on players going aroun. One of our player want to travel with family in BCCI money... im sure they want to enjoy life. Look at the new AD of Aircel what all Dhoni Does to the team mates... Hope it is not a copy of a real story.

Jago India Jago

It is really a tricky situation in India, if our country can not stage a competition like IPL along with the election then we must say that our security measurements are not capable enough to handle the pressure of extra event if happens in India.

In the view of the above if some one attack India then our so called politician may say we can revert back to enemies just because we are handling our general election.

It is really shame for we Indian that just because of we are not able to provide extra security for IPL our own IPL is moving to other countries.

Jago politician it is really a shame for un.

This is no tricky situation. Threat Perception had changed dramatically after 26/11 and Lankan team attack. No nation can give z plus kind of security to so many players at so many venues for period of whole tournament.. Its shameful on IPLs part that even after knowing this, thay are doing all they can to bring bad name to our Nation..

If Yes after 26/11, why not after 3/3 ????
by Citizen on Mar 23, 2009 08:47 PM  | Hide replies

If India could hold India vs England Test match just a fortnight after the 26/11 attacks, then why is this Govt afraid after the 3/3 Pak attack????

Thats because, Congress Govt is afraid of being Voted out of power if something happens just before the elections during this IPL. Thats the fact.

So, whats your call on this? You wants the matches to be played, something to happen which will affect India's image, no cricket thereafter and cong to lose in th election, rt? It's always better not to do something if there is an element of doubt with the security.

Whether we live in a stone age or ultra tech era, no matter during the election time none of the care taker government would like to take any chance of lapse. If something happens the entire blame would be on the Congress party and they may lose their expected victory ?!

May be we may have the second largest army force in this world but as per knowledge even for elections Army (except the Para Military forces and territorial army)called for the security at the last level. Again you must have to gear up your Intelligences in double or triple fold to cover everything, which is also risk. Instead of taking a high risk the event can be postponed which is more convenient than any other option.

Why should there be tradeoff?

Are you guys even serious.....A country that has the second biggest army and perhaps police force (at least in books) cant handle two things at the same time. You guys live in stone age!

Ok Mr downtown, we can withdraw all our military and paramilitary forces from the borders and provide security to the IPL matches. What do you think? You will be happy, rt? Do you know, we are going for a an election, probably the largest in the world. Which is more important, IPL or national security?

Lalit Modi Looks a like a Cunning FOX
by Citizen on Mar 23, 2009 08:32 PM

Just by his looks, I feel Lalit Modi looks like a CUNNING FOX. I can see how desparate he is to make more and more crores of rupees.

Having said that, the Home Ministry has unnecassarily blown this out of proportion. We could have easily held the IPL without exaggerating this fuss for security. India is NOT pakistan.
