Grassy pitch
by Samia Baig on Mar 23, 2009 05:20 PM

Looks to me like the kiwis are preparing a case for a grassy pitch so as to nullify the Indian batting firepower. Lets see how Munaf and Co responds...

NZ as Strong Team
by Venkat Prakash on Mar 23, 2009 03:20 PM  | Hide replies

Why are some losers harping that it is the weakest NZ team ever so we are winning.. what about we losing to Aussies and WI when they were at peak..??? did we say , it was fine losing , They have the best bunch.. come on,, we don't have any control over the talent or the lack of it of the opposition,, what can we do if NZ dont have international standard players,, all we can do is to go and perform to the best of our capacity..TEAM INIDA,, GOOD LUCK AND WIN THE SERIES

Why
by indira on Mar 23, 2009 12:24 PM  | Hide replies

Whenever we win matches either in India or abroad, we say that the opposition is one of the weakest and not the strong team as it was before. Why do we say so? I think this shows our low self esteem.

Sachin and Dravid
by indira on Mar 23, 2009 12:19 PM

I see many criticise Sachin & Dravid in this forum. What they don't understand is that before Sehwag and Gambir we never had good opening pair. We saw S.Ramesh, Jaffer, Dasgupta and some more. No steady opening pair. They kept on changing and that affected Sehwag's performance also for sometime. Most of the times Dravid would come at 10 or 15 for 1 and Sachin at 20 or 30 for 2. They had to the job of both the openers as well as the middle order. Inspite of that also they had won many matches for India. Moreover our bowling attack especially the fast bowlers were not of the match winning mould after the retirement of Kapil Dev. Don't simply ctiticise Sachin and Dravid because wins always depend upon the collective efforts of 11 players and not on one individual. If one or two perform and the rest fail the team will bound to lose. Vettori and Ryder scored tons in the 1st innings and still NZ lost because the rest failed.

Different team altogether
by India on Mar 23, 2009 10:48 AM  | Hide replies

This team is not anywhere near the NZ team led by Fleming in 2003 which NZ won handily against India. It would be a real surprise if this NZ team can even win one test. They don't have test class batsmen or bowlers except for Vettori, Ryder and Mccullum. That is the reason NZ is currently ranked 8th or technically last in test rankings. NZ team has never been so weak at home like this before.

actually the difference has been
a) lack of bowler friendly pitches
b) We have equal if not better fast bowlers than New Zealand
c) our batting has always been better than NZ

In 2002-03 tour the first 2 points were in NZ favour. Thats why they won so easily.

Grass
by Sujit Basu on Mar 22, 2009 11:12 PM  | Hide replies

Certainly It Has To Be Grass To Blame Now. Congrats & Sorry Dhoni You Might Be In A winning Note....But This Is Not The Toughest Team Of Kiwis.....Although I Like The Way Your Positive Apporach Towards The Team....Just Keep Your Head Cool As Always You Do....And Feet on The Ground...Wish You All The Luck 4 Ongoing Tour......

I think the Problem for Mr Sujit Basu is not India's win..instead he is thinking why not Dada is captain at this moment inplace of Dhoni..then it would be became a gr8 victory for him and who knows then mr basu claims..the same nz attack as the strongest team in NZ history...

isn't it mr basu?

sujit on hindsight this indian team is not the weakest to tour new zealand
this indian cricket team has raised the bar
this was the same new zealand team who almost beat aussies in their own backyard just a few months back
the word toughest team cannot be defined just by having big names
however it can be proved by match winning performances even from average players
new zealand fall in the latter category

Completely agree with you. you sighted the valid reasons...definitely this was the same new zealand team who almost beat aussies in their own backyard just a few months back..

I don't know what the indian fans really want from the time...

prior to the Tour of NZ... They were talkin, it will be the Litmus test for team india, ..they got bit of it when we loss to NZ in T20's game..but after that ...Kiwis are outplayed in all the game ,every where in every part of the game....

This Indian team is playing at their best since last 2 years...lets accept it...
