not comparing too much but I am sure murali or mendi for that matter in the circumstance would have done better than Bhajji. Bhajji isnt the best of spinners we have now. May be Ojha or Amit would have been a better choice

If you have a 5th bowler, India will lack a batsman then. Its 'egg n the chichen' scenario.

What India really lacks is a top notch all rounder so that this is not a difficult choice. Like Flintoff or Michael Johnson. Even one good true allrounder makes all the difference. I was hoping that this would be Irfan but I guess that has not worked out.

catches win matches...anyway let's hope our famous batting line-up lives upto it's name. Batting in NZ is always testing esp for Indians

Then why dont you go and play. It is very easy to make comments while sitting on place. Understand Mr.Sameer.

5 runs - 50 balls. if not out at this time, 25 - 70 balls 50 - 100 75 - 125 100 - 140 balls ---
Indian selectors should seriously think about inclusion of Harbhajan in to Team in future. It is very clearly evident that his days are over. We should try new and young talent in spin department. Amit and Piyush are young prospects. Selectors have ignored Piyush Chawla who definitely would become a good alrounder for Indian team in future. He is a wicket taking bowler.

hello mr. nayak, are u joking....in T20 is the most successful bowler and u are talking to exclude him...come on yaaaaaaaaaar..........don't be bias

by gautam shetty on Mar 18, 2009 02:45 PM
Dumbass, remember that Hamilton had seam and wing in its favour. It had a lot of grass. Spin does not play such a crucial role here. Bhaji isnt that and dont forget he has experience on his side.
Re: Re: Harbhajan

Gautam
Experience should speak buddy. Hving an experienced player alone wont justify the non-performance. If you see Bajji has been a non-performer in most of the test matches. In one day format, because containment becomes a weapon we can say Bhajji can be relied on. Test format, Containment has not much say. Its purely beating and taking wicket or setup the batsmen to make mistake. Which I doubt Bhajji has. So instead holding this guy in 11, why not try younger talent. Who knows they could shine if given few chances. Ojha is one other option apart from Misra, Piyush
Harbahajan's display was quite ordinary. He does not seem like a watch winning bowler.Even today he could not pick up a great chance of bowling New Zealand out cheaply. The problem is that he does not look like picking wickets. India needs a match-winning spinner.Probably, Amit Mishra is a much better choice. Sehwag can bowl off-spin to provide the necessary variety.

U expect the new ball to turn on day 1 of a test and that too in new zealand...

by Nayak Nayak on Mar 18, 2009 02:37 PM
Howcna you say Amit & Piyush would have struggled? I am sure they would have done better than Bhajji who was predictable and without variety.

Sameer, You can be wrong also.May be not thinking brain which is equivalent to drain drum. Anyway on lighter vein. - not to offend you.
Nayak has a point too. Why not give chance to other talents. When Bhajji is considered experienced, why is he not able to pick wickets on day1. Then we cant claim him match winner or even match fit. Give younger guys few chance - atleast we fans cud appreciate some better cricket.. More over Bhajji if he is not in form a given day, he bowls damn flat. no flight.. Somehow Bhajji is not among our best of spinners.

Mr. Sameer Fan, whose Fan are you? Certainly not of Indian Cricket. U r not at all optimistic.
Well Done Ishant,Zaheer and Munaf. yes,it is painful to see opponants revive from a precarious position to reach to 279 but they should not lose heart. The Grit showed by Vettori and Ryder must be admired and should be a lesson for all.Let us hope Sewag will understand that in a Test grinding bowlers to dust is not as important as staying nd ensuring very substantial total so that batting last on crumbling wicket will not be necessary for India
