Indians done in by left handers yet again!
by Kevin on Mar 18, 2009 06:41 PM  | Hide replies

Its nothing new, same old story. Indian bowlers ripping through the majority of the opposition team but just not being able to get of rid of one or two of the left handers which turn the game on its head. Whether its Clive Lloyd, Hanif Mohammad, Kepler Wessels, Marcus Trescothic, Sanath Jaisurya, Shivnarayan Chanderpaul, Mathew Hayden, Gilchrist, the list is long. Why, even the current indian coach, Gary Kirsten used to be thorn in indian bowler's flesh during the mid 90s. And yes who can forget Saeed Anwar and Aamir Sohail?
Indian bolwers have their task cut out against the left handers. I guess they require much more application to get them out.

well said. But Jawahal Srinath was very good against left handers. As for as I know Jayasurya never scored one day century against India when Srinath was in Playing 11.

U R RIGHT MUTHU. UR CRICKET KNOWLEDGE IS GOOD. ONLY VENKETRAGHAVAN AND JAVAGAL SRINATH WERE TWO BOWLERS IN INDIAN CRICKET WHO COULD CHECK LEFT HANDERS

Dravid in Ganguly's foot steps
by Ashish Kumar on Mar 18, 2009 06:17 PM  | Hide replies

Dravid is following the ways of Ganguly who was much criticised for his poor fielding. This one time champion fielder has spilled 17 catches in the past ten matches. Is it slowing down of reflexes with advancing age or sheer lack of confidence?

GANGULY WAS A BRANDED POOR FIELDER. EVEN AFTER 400 MATCHES HE NEVER LEARNED TO RUN BETWEEN WICKETS ADDING TO HIS PATHETIC FIELDING

It was media who made built a mole of a hill. If you are cursing Ganguly, you are cursing players like Sehwag and lakshman also. They are stroke makers and run very less and score more in boundaries!
The branding was done by media to make their channel popular, appy your own mind!

NZ trip has been very stress free for our players because NZ is such a good host. Players and commentators are very decent people unlike their neighbour country.I loved the sportsman ship exhibited when the young batsman Ryder made his first century. All the Indians came and shook hands. This is what we must see in sports.NZ player have been extreamly decent.

Yes, I can't agree more on this. NZ players are so decent on and off the field. Even when Sharma had a little pat with Ryder, he took it as a part of the game and there it finished. The commentators were so nice they were cheering for both teams equally if not more for India.

Ravi your comments are very biased kind. It seems whom you like personally is the best and whom you dont like is the worst?
Dravid and Ganguly are one of the best batsmen India has ever produced! SO if you praise one, don't degrade the other!
Had ganguly been selfish, he would have ouster Dravid from ODI when he was in pathetic form once. But Ganguly's contribution will be remembered as he made Dravid the wicketkeeper so that Dravid's role in the Indian team in not questioned! Had Dravid been out of the ODI team then, he would have never made it to the Indian team then!
But in result what did Dravid do?? He played with Chappel to get Ganguly out??
Now tell me the definition of SELFISH??
Please don't bark with reason! Put your points before you comment!

No body is denying Dravid's capability as a batsman, he is one of the most technically correct players in the world. But his recent form raises question about his selection in the present team in the first place.

But it is also well known that Dravid played politics along with Chappall his chamcha Kiran More to remove Ganguly from captaincy which he later forfietted. Presently two of the three members of this alliance More and Chappal is no where to be seen, and this tour is Dravid's last chance to avoid their fate.

Ganguly on the other hand had a royal farewell, showing his capability and becoming one of the few players having centuries in their first and last series.

Not same bhai, Dravid played 129 (at the time when Ganguly retired) compared to Ganguly's 113. Ganguly had to bear the pressure of captaincy in the major part of their career.

Ganguly saved Dravid's ODI career, in return Dravid joined hands with Chappal and More and ensured that players like Venugopal Rao and Mohammad Kaif were selected ahead of Ganguly.

For ODI, Ganguly was the Man of the Match and the Man of the Series in his last ever ODI series which was against Pakistan.

For Tests, Ganguly have a century in his last test match. The Great Don Bradman also has a duck in his last match, does that duck draw any controversy in his batting caliber! Lol....

Dear Mr. Ganapathy Bopaiah,

I sincerely request you to read such forums as rediff forum for time pass. Nothing intelligent/serious or worth analyzing would ever be printed here. The comments are as insipid as the article or the write up for which those comments are made. If you want to smile at the utter folly of people, who deliberately provoke on another for the lack of anything better to do, read this forum. I do get a wry smile when once in a way I read this.
