Nice to see IPL being taken for a ride
by eye We on Mar 17, 2009 09:06 PM

It may very well be that a bargain is going on under the table, but I'm happy to see the IPL being taken for a ride, because, this is what they did with the ICL on the couple of meetings where they had a very dissmissive attitude. What goes around comes around!

IPL submits revised schedule

IPL will be held. There are no two words about this. Once the politicians get their money for BCCI and owners of the teams of IPL we will hear their announcement. Bargaining is still going on. Looks like these politicians want more money. There is such a huge amount involved in this that there is no way it can postponned. As usual it always boils down to money.

Neither are our Politicians averse of IPL or CRICKET for the matter of fact, nor the BCCI officials ignorant about the democratic process. All of are well aware of the coming, duration and also the best possible dates for both these events. They why this helluwa hoopla and cry....? Why didnt they sort out within them, before annoncing the dates publicly? POWER POLITICS.....? WHO IS BIGGER THAN WHO? No doubt people of India and their democratic right.
GOD SAVE US FROM SUCH UNNECESSARY POWER POLITICS....!

Kick Congress out in these elections. For ever. Here's why...
by kumar on Mar 17, 2009 08:36 PM  | Hide replies

The only job Congress does is of destroying the country and its institutions.

Pick any evil facing us as a nation, and it most probably is a Congress creation.

- Congress backed Bhindrawale: resulted in thousands of innocents shot execution style by "Khalistani" terrorists, op blue star, Indira reaping what she sowed, and Congress-sponsored killings of innocent Sikhs

- Congress (in 1985) opened Babri gates for worship: resulted in renewed communal passion and tensions. Now they have the guts to blame BJP for the mess!

- Congress oversaw, and still encourages, illegal immigration from Bangladesh to fill up bordering states with potentially Congress voters: Thousands of Indians are losing livelihoods to India-hating Bong muslims, even more getting killed by Bangla-linked terrorists. Jeopardizing national security.

-- Congress politicized Rashtrapati Bhavan: Things began well after independence, with Dr Rajendra Prasad. But soon Congress began politicking, and we ended up with fools like Neelam Reddy and Zail Singh as presidents! The BJP tried fixing it by inducting Dr Kalam, but Congress came and brought in this ex-Cong female Patil.

- Congress politicized Election commission: The last pillar, also gone. It began with Rajiv Gandhi's discomfort with CEC TN Seshan (a tough, no nonsense guy). Congress changed EC's structure to have 3 commissioners instead of 1. Then it appointed a Congress sympathizer as CEC days before General Polls.

IPL schedule was fixed much earlier than elcetion announcement. In a democratic set up it is the duty of GOVT to cooperate and find out mutually how the schedule can be conveniently rearranged.... The current attitude of the GOVt appears to be a non co-operative stand.

BCCI is trying to use influence on Govt
by S Shrikanth on Mar 17, 2009 08:11 PM

BCCI, the politically and finacially most powerful is trying to use its influence the Govt for IPL. BCCI has support of many ruling party Ministers and MPs , so they are trying to show the Govt that they are the boss.

BCCI has been using money power to buy series against other cricket teams. They went with full blow against Australia last year after losing 2 matches. They successfully poured money to bring English cricketers and whitewash them with money power. Did it again in Lanka and now in New Zealand. So,they are thinking they are the boss in this country and want the tournament when elections, the highest constitutional process is on.

The Govt much teach BCCI a lesson. Its Now or never.
