Trick or Kar-trick
by ON AndON on Jun 29, 2009 01:24 PM  | Hide replies

I really don't know why Dinesh Kartick is in the team and even finds a place in the playing 11. If we are really short of a wicket-keeper, then the choice has to be made between Dhoni & Kartick. But why is the place of a regular batsmen of the kind _ Raina etc., being sacrificed for a non-starter like Kartick, who has got, god alone knows, how many chances but has never been able to perform consistently, and at best is mediocre. It appears connections in the right places can get you in the team. Even in the IPL T20, the replacement batsman for Sehwag was Kartick. What a let down for poor Sehwag__ being compared with the likes of a Kartick.

Are we really devoid of any good players in India, or there is mischief in the selection board.

I agree Raina should be there instad of Karthick, but Raina is not in the squad cos of injury. It is not like Karthick is the replacement of Shewag, a team should have 11 players, who else can we select other than Karthik who did very well for Delhi in IPL. There is only one I can tell in the current squad that is Abhishek Nair. I dont undesrstand why Kohli is not there is the squad where as Jadeja is in the playing 11.

Harbhajan - big disappointment
by amit singh on Jun 29, 2009 01:05 PM  | Hide replies

I think Harbhajan has been the biggest disappointment so far. He does not look like getting wickets, in fact batsman nowadays plays him with much more ease. He needs to take some responsibilities in absence of Zaheer and specially when other bowlers are not performing.

bhajji has been like this for ages...for quiet some time he was protected by our batsmen who scored huge in onedayers...hez just an economical bowler not a wicket taker like kumble...and hez arrogant too...pace attack looks weak coz dhoni has purposely kept out the likes of agarkar who did so well here in 2006 and at age of 31 can still provide experience to this bowling attack...remember hez still one of the better pace bowlers in ODIs with 291 wickets from 188 games at SR of 32 and avg of 27 which is very very good....

You are right...Agarkar is statistically India's best ever ODI fast bowler if SR and Avg are any critieria! His RPO of 5.09 is also better than guys like Ishant, RP, Sreesanth, and Irfan. 291 wickets in ODI's is the equivalent of ~9,000 ODI runs - thus if Dravid and Ganguly are considered ODI legends, Agarkar is not too far behind!

Agarkar held the record of the fastest 50 ODI wickets since you have short term memory. However his fragile physical structure has been his achiles Heel. I think it would have been a different picture had he been physically stronger like Kapil, wasim etc

I don't agree with u on this. I think Agarakar has got enough chances to prove himself but he is inconcistent. Even he is not dependable like bhajji or other bowlers except Zaheer who is better to some extent.

Its bad that harbhajan is still being given so many chances when Ojha, Dacati, Murali karthik are constantly getting omitted.

West Indies beat India by 8 wickets
by raman govindan on Jun 29, 2009 01:02 PM

indian have not faced genuine fast bowling for a long time. or faced the fading quickies. and had won by the unenforced error of the opponent team and some solid batting by key individuals. the have to improve by several scores. it was displayed during the T20 series in south africa. and it is being confirmed. and the indian media advertising and marketing genius make few pygmis into a gorilla for their own benefit.

Indian Team's Helping Nature!!!!!!
by XXX on Jun 29, 2009 12:59 PM

Give a big hand to Indian team which helps the lower ranked Teams to come back to form. Guys..... The agreement is like this.. If any team is out of form, they will arrange the tour with BCCI. Then BCCI will arrange the tour by getting alot of money. Then Indian cricket team will play their worst part of cricket and boost the other teams morality. Gr8 2 see........

Rohit Sharma.............
by TomandJerry on Jun 29, 2009 12:51 PM  | Hide replies

Rohit Sharma should bat at no5 instead of no 3, He is beig wasted in top of the order coz he is natural stroke maker and good hitter lower down the order in slog overs, He cannot play swinging ball and he is very suspect to seam bowling, He should come to bat after 30 overs.........

if u r a batman then u shud know to bat in all conditions and against any kind of bowling attack..no execuses. In that sense even Nikhil Choppra could play spinners very well.

Indian Bowlers are not effective
by cool on Jun 29, 2009 12:50 PM  | Hide replies

Ishant is not at his best and it seems he need a rest. RP singh's IPL magic did not continue as his slow deliveries were pounced by WI batsmen. From WI bowling, it seems only pace can do magic in WIndies track, not slower ones esp. to Gayle, Chanderpaul and Morton. Nehra's can swing the ball well, but he requires pace to beat the Windies batsman. So the reason behind the failure in bowling dept is because they are not able to bowl faster. guys, we need Zaheer desparately to share the new ball :)

Great Indian Team !!!
by ajith gopal on Jun 29, 2009 12:49 PM  | Hide replies

When Raj Singh Durgapur, axed all the seniors and brought the team for future (sachin, kambli, jadeja and lot) the same thing happend, india took time to take its footing. Durgapur escaped unhurt, because there was sachin.
Dhoni and His supporting media are crying for the blood of Seniors ever since they won the World Cup. I have a few questions for u guys.
1. how many in this team can build an innnings with patience and technique.
2. how many can weather storm of swing in the early morning pitch?
3. Team shows its character when its down and out, does this team is showing any signs
4. This Team blessed exceptional bowling talent and variety, was Dhoni was able to prepare and care them to play to their potential
5. Dhoni and his press was quick to force the issue of Seniors, that means they are sooo adamant of doing wht think which is good for india, if so why they cudnt get their bowlers proper care ?
6. Now a days we have the upper hand on Pakistan, next time do u think this young tigers of indian cricket can handle their opening bowlers

At last the Senior Bashers learnt their lesson in a hardway !!!
Hopefully they will use their limited cricketing knwledge well in future.

Britishers taught us how to divide and rule.
Its Indian Team we want to win, Seniors or Juniors it doesnt matter.
We want to Win.
WHERE ARE THOSE SENIOR HATERS ?

Our Bowling Section is not fit at present situation. No one perform consistantly. Every match the wickets are falling with God's Grace. Not because of the performance or technic of Our Bowlers. At this stage we need a match winning bowlers like Sreesanth, Piyush Chawla. In BCCI everything is under Politics & lobby.

Ishant needs rest, Rohit needs some guidance from other players, Jadeja is a poor selection so far..even Dhoni would hv realised this.
But now talking about Dravid-u must be kidding. he is no more a one day player.
