"15-strong team". Atleast refrain from such adjectives immediately after humiliating defeat. Wait until we 'win' to assess our strength (or weakness).

by BIJIT CHAKRABORTY on Jun 23, 2009 06:35 PM  | Hide replies

dhoni is more suitable in doing ads and he has no interest in playing cricket.
harbhajan should captain the indian team because indian team cannot will not win any matches in the caribbean and he captains then we will have some entertainment from the team atleast bcoz he will slap some players and as a result rumor and drama also will be created.

Visa Problem for 3 Indian Players
by Murali on Jun 23, 2009 06:27 PM  | Hide replies

Even this trio Vijay,Badrinath and M.Nayyar didnot get the visa for the WI tour nothing will happen. These players are anyhow will sit in teh benches as 13th 14th and 15th man. Vijay and Badrinath is not deserved for selection and they were in the team only because they are from the same state(tamilnadu) as of the Chief selecter K. srikkanth.

What you're saying is partially correct. think what happened to the full north indian team which played in the recent WC t20... they lost all the matches in the super 8s only having beaten minnows at group stage.

Dhoni warns players against hiding injuries.........
by Anurag Rathore on Jun 23, 2009 06:23 PM  | Hide replies

NEW DELHI: Ahead of the ODI series against West Indies beginning on Friday, reports suggest that the Indian captain gave team members a dressing
down.

Dhoni reportedly told his team members that everyone needs to be truthful about injuries or any other personal issues that could affect team's performance.

The other issue Dhoni is said to have dealt with was related to players' fatigue. He said that in case anyone felt tired and not 100 per cent fit, they should take rest in order to recuperate.

Dhoni has been forced to address these issues after the severe criticism that the Men in Blue faced after their performance in England.

"For me, it's the team first and then the individuals and I'd hope it's the same with everyone else in the group," Dhoni is said to have stated. "If rest is the cure for an injury, a cricketer ought to opt for it rather than let fatigue or niggle become a major setback to him and to the team," he reportedly said.

Also it came to light that several players went to England despite carrying injuries.

The Indian team physio had given the BCCI a report in this regard but the BCCI nevertheless selected players who were carrying injuries.

Dhoni must have been forced to address these issues because of what happened to his deputy Virender Sehwag in England. When the Delhi batsman arrived for the World T20, he was said to have only a shoulder niggle. However, he was found to have a Grade 1 tear following which he underwent a surgery.

"If anyone wants to take a break from the game, please let me know or the BCCI," was what Dhoni said.

Dhoni did not spare the seniors in the team. "I would urge seniors to give more and more inputs for the betterment of the team," stated Dhoni. He was referring to Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir and Harbhajan Singh who will be playing four ODIs against the West Indies. Alongside the warning to the seniors, Dhoni also urged juniors to take up more responsibility and chip in with their inputs.

@ Ajay: I wont say dhoni is a bad keeper but india has far more better wicket keeper than him.. Moreover he was in since he cud fill in the spot of batsman wicket keeper (which rahul dravid used to do). If u have look at the stats i wont b surprised if he has more missed opportunities than rahul dravid. Durin WI match (T20) he missed out on a simple run out wen both the players(bravo and simmons who went on to win the match for WI) were on the same side which cud have been a turning poin in the match

Now these guys will win with the weak WI team and we all will forget the World cup debacle.Thats cricket. As pak skipper said 20 20 is a fun. However its the luck of Afridi made them win and unlucky Dhobi could not do anything.
