Dhoni great
by Hot on Jun 20, 2009 08:15 PM  | Hide replies

The victories in recent time of the Indian team is mostly due to Dhoni. Dhoni has so many times taken India to victory due to his finisher role. The latest defeat of Indian team is due to the bad form of Dhoni. Dhoni is basicaaly a one day batsman who taeks a few overs to settle down and then launches his attack or takes the game to the logical end, which is not possibel in 20-20.

U hot idiot, dhobi has not won a single match on his own in last 2 yrs. Its just his luck that got best india team & win courtsey-sachin, sehwag, kumble, laxman, yuvi, dravid etc.
Dhobi can't even get a place in team on merit.

Indian fans ...
by Arv Singh on Jun 20, 2009 07:56 PM  | Hide replies

It interesting to note that the Indian fans are the most sentimental and emotional. We can raise the victors as HEROES to the level of demi-gods as we have done to Dhoni and Yuvraj in recent past. Or we can make them ZEROES after a single point of failure by buring their effigy on the streets. Most of the guys who demonstrate their anger on the streets of India and those self-appointed experts of the game post messages here probably never played sports themselves apart form the national sport of watching sports on TV. If you are or were a sportsman, you should know that victory and defeat is part of any sport. You can not win every tournament and every match you play.

But I must admit, I myself was dissapointed with the exit of the team from the tournament. I am watching the semifinals and finals but its not the same thing ... without the Team India.

Do statistics tell some story ...
by Arv Singh on Jun 20, 2009 07:47 PM  | Hide replies

Victory or defeat are part of any game and the Captain and his team need the confidence of the fans to pull out of this rut. However, there were many obvious failures and miscalculations that resulted in the recent debacle of Dhoni's team.

1. Team selection by Dhoni was atrotious. Leaving Ojha out for Jadeja demonstrates his lack of confidence in his batting line-up. Persisting with Irfan Pathan and Ishant Sharma was another noticable error of judgement by the captain. He could have utilized Ojha, Pravin Kumar, and RP Singh who were at his disposal.
2. Failure of the young turks - Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina. The media can paint the players as stars but these "stars" need to perform on the pitch. Rohit Sharma was hailed as the next best thing after Sehwag but he failed miserably in the Super8 games. Suresh Raina was the most failed player in this tournament with a stasitics of (5-4-20-10-5). Did anyone notice that Raina scored a total of 20 runs in five matches with an average of 5?
3. Ishant Sharam always gets a "star" status but look at his figures (5-5-15-125-2-8.33). Sharma ji got just two wickets from 5 matches and gave away 125 runs at an average of 8.33 runs per over.
4. Irfan Pathan just took 1 wicket in the entire tournament

Apart from Yuvraj, Rohit(against weaker teams), Gambhir, Ojha, Zahir, and Harbhajan, the rest of the team performed below par.

So how is the North Indian aggression working out for you bhai yyas?

North Indians are stud this, North Indians are stud that... all bakwas talk on these boards is all these bhai yyas can do.

I feel like throwing rotten idlis and vada at these shameless bhai yyas. They want to keep the President of India waiting with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in hand, so bhai yya can go and hit fake sixers for Pepsi and Visa power ad.

"We dont want any southies in the team, we are stud northies, we have sarson ka saag aggression, we have baingan bharta stamina, we have makki ki roti 'staying power'... and what not big talk.

"We are good looking Northie studs..." Who is a freaking good looking bhai yya in this team. Ishant Sharma? That inverted toilet brush with jungli hair? He is fit to be shoe shine boy for Srinath and a cook in Kapil Dev's house.

Sirf badi badi baatein, aur apne aap ko Wasim Akram aur Imran Khan samajh baithe bhai yya log. Kabhi huliya shakl aaine mein dekha hai?

Absolute disgrace.

But not to worry. I have still not lost hope.

Visa power, Zandu balm and Isabgol team is waiting with TV cameras to shoot new commercials. Northie studs Dhobi and company can start hitting massive sixers for brand new ads on TV.

It is nice to keep the ads fresh.

But TV ppl should not keep repeating this ad every 2 minutes. I worry that Dhoni and other bhai yyas may get Tennis elbow if they have to keep hitting lovely 6s every 2 minutes, day and night.

I used to be mad abt cricket but lost interest due to ganguly politics and sachin's selfish play for his centuries..Dhoni brought the interest back with his presence in the team.
No.1 ODI batsmen won countless matches single handedly for India without scoring 45 centuries

India, with a population of 125 crore have only one game, cricket to focus. So media is so keen on it that its players and captain will be under tremendous pressure. Nobody expected much from the 2008 team and hence they played freely and won. Things changed drastically in 2009.
Captains of Indian and Pakistani teams have always tough time since both nations had a volatile public, which goes to extremes in their reactions.

Dhoni the best.
by Kumar Chakraborthy on Jun 20, 2009 01:57 PM  | Hide replies

Yes Waugh is right absolutely. Dhoni is the best. Sourav was the most controversial captain of all time in cricket history whereas Dhoni the best captain ever in cricket history to achieve such huge things in such a short span of his career. Winning the 1st T/20 World cup, one day series in Australia etc. etc. These are monumental achievements. Sourav achieved nothing. Involved in various controversies. People saying Sourav India's best captain are mad. They don't know anything about cricket i presume. He was not even a quality player. All his runs have come agt. weak opponents & in placid pitches. Overseas in SOuth Africa & Australia his performance is below average. He should never have been playing for India overseas. Hence no comparison with DHONI the best.

dhoni achieved only and mainly because of sachin, sehwag, yuvi, bhajji, rohit, rpsingh, zaheer and ishant against aussies alone tat too in test matches only....otherwise is a super wasteeee..surely he is going to lose matches without sehwag, sachin and zaheer...with out sachin and sehwag dhoni can do nothing..dhoni is the worst player ever india produced ..and most lucky player india ever produced ...dhoni is never the hardest sriker of the cricket ball....he strikes the ball hard and ball go no where ...dhoni is selfish player only looking for average in odi's ..always score 50 runs in 70-80 balls in dead flat pitches ...and in moving and seaming pitches dhoni come and bat around 7 and safily secure not out position...dhoni always thinking abt icc no :1...every one remember even the waste kulashekara is icc no :1 ..dhoni is the country waste

So according to you, Ganduly won all the matched playing alone and mostly without Sachin, Sehwag, Nehra, Dravid, Kambli, others in his team !!

Wow! I wonder why so many cricket legends heap praise on Dhoni??
