India's exit from t20
by tharkabhushanam ramachandran on Jun 19, 2009 12:15 AM

It is accumulation of Dhoni's misjudgments in crucial times like sending ravindra ahead of himself and Yuvi and that in team composition in persisting with Ishant and not preferring RP and omission of Ojha who was the leading wicket taker form India in the tournament
Dhoni's personal prejudices have ruined indian team's chances

It is better to have Pandey , Thirumal setty, Kohli or Naman Ojha
by raj on Jun 17, 2009 06:08 PM  | Hide replies

If they have these two fellows in the team, then it is good.

They played very well in the IPl and also they are fit.

If the players are not fir, players should inform BCCI, so BCCI can pick players who are fit.

If Dhoni was South Indian
by indianview on Jun 17, 2009 05:34 PM  | Hide replies

Just compare what happened to dravid as captain for world cup 50 overs... He was sacked immediately or forced to quit... Now why a northi captain should move forward in spite of BAD decisions made by him as a captain... ???

No Excuse Please
by sandip manna on Jun 17, 2009 04:56 PM

Why blame IPL? South African, West Indian And Sri Lankan etc. also played IPL. And If you see their last 6/7 months schedule, you will see that they have played more than India. If IPL is the reason for India's wrost performance, why other doing well???
Stop giving excuse. Luck does not make you win everytime.

dhoni team lost in the ipl-09 and ipl-08 and now lost iccT20 w.c after winning iccT20 W.C IN S.A-2007 3 STRIGHT LOSSES this is a clear idication that he is not taking game seriously always running behind the money, his full concentration is on adds not on the game

Not a big issue
by Shankar Shankar on Jun 17, 2009 04:48 PM

India in the last edision was not expected to win. This time around there was a lot of hope as they were defending champions and also won a lot of ODI tournaments in the last 18 months. May be IPL and lots of cricket is a reason. They are paid well and they should not try to cheat. Shewag , Zaheer and even Dhoni dont look fit.. Winning and loosing is a part of the game but Indians lacked fighting spirt and that was a concern. Hope they get back from this setback and regroup and get back to winning ways..

not captain cool
by rishi mehta on Jun 17, 2009 04:25 PM  | Hide replies

anybody knows jadeja cannot hit 4 or 6 at any point in the game why he was sent above of yuvraj and if dinesh kartik was flown to england at short notice why he was not given the chance.Jadeja is still young cricketer he has to learn a lot and its 20-20 cricket hit out or get out.Dhoni is complaing of Booing in the crowd which is correct because cricketers or the captain should know they are not playing IPL(Indian Paisa League)its ICC wolrd 20-20 nations pride is at stake.

Yes, Rishi Mehta -jadeja is talented and budding cricketer but inexperienced in this version of the game. Now that Karthik was flown in at a short notice and already a proven cricketer especially in T20, it would have been in fitness of things, if he had given a chance - he is a fighter. Add to this, he could also do the keeping. anyway gone is bygone - losing or winning is the essence of any game but the way in which we lost all the three matches, could not be digested - dhoni & company committed enormous mistakes in all three departments -and we are kicked off from T20.

emotional people of india

we the people of india are too emotional, when we win accolades come from everywhere but when we lose we put them down to earth. why so. see winning and losing are part and parcel of any game. we cant win all the game. it is sure thatwe were not upto the mark but we should encourage them to show better in future. I AM SURE THAT THIS INDIAN TEAM MAKE A COME BACK.

Ok you are correct. but they thought of play for money only. After the IPL, see no cooperation with anyone. too much head weight with their money. Is not good. Just compare with other teams, you will understand.

Are ur view the same when dravid(much greater performer than dhobi & consistent for 15 yrs)lost w cup due to one match & he had to come back to India hiding his face.
If no double standard, then agree with u otherwise this team should get much more bashing than that team. After all that team was not made hero overnight & team was doing very well before w cup exit.

DHONI'S DOWNFALL
by rambo only on Jun 17, 2009 03:31 PM  | Hide replies

I have been a big fan of Dhoni and defended him for long , specially during last year when Supporters of Senior players were after him.

But I have been badly disappointed with his total approach during WC T20.

First: HE has tiff with Sehwag, his Vice-captain. This is not a god sign for a captain who should carry entire team with him. Mind it , there were rumours of strained relationship of Dhoni with Sehwag earlier also.

Second : He became rude and argumentative with all Media persons - in order to hide his shortcoming.

Third : He started loosing his temper frequently-Where is 'Captain Cool'?

Fourth : He promoted himself to No. 3 position in warm-up matches and 2 matches against BD and Ireland. This was a big mistake, as he denied Suresh Raina MAtch practice before the big important games. This was a big blunder as Raina was supposed to be most consistent along with Gambhir

Fifth : When big matches came against WI and England, he suddenly dropped himself to no 5/6 and promoted Raina (as mentioned earlier)

Sixth : He excluded R P Singh against WI, though he was most economical bowler in IPL. Even in 2nd group match, he bowled RP for 3 hours only, and gave IShant full 4 overs even though he was expensive.
Seventh : Without first trying regular spinner Harbhajan and Yusuf/Jadeja, he tried part-time bowlers, who failed.

etc.
etc.
AND THERE WAS OVERALL LACKING OF SPIRIT,
