I storngly feel Dhoni is coming in at No. 3 to staisfy all the sponsors who put him in their advertisements and he has to show is face in TV in action. He is doing too many nowadays. SATURATING. It is like how much screentime an actor gets in a movie and is see by all. If Dhoni comes in No.5 or 6 in T20 no TV viewer will see him enough (or may not see him at all-innings/ match will be over by then) on TV in action.
If you notice he has brand new pink Reebok logo on his bat and he appears in a Reebok ad with Bipasha. I hope all this nonsense doe not cause problems within the team and affect good decision making.
Let him make all the money he wants but not at even a fraction of what is good for the team and country.
I can't think of any other proper reason why he does this again and again starting from CSK losing because of this. He comes in at No. 3 saying he needs to consolidate when:
1) there is NO batting collapse or crisis
2) there is already someone playing anchor role in the middle
3) Dhoni knows he is not in form and can't play big shots
4) far more clean hitters in their regular slots waiting and don't get enough deliveries
5) all this shuffling makes other batsmen insecure

doing ads is part and partial of this profession we shouldn’t blame for that, every Indian player have done so why blame one. Until and unless you perform in the ground non should have problems with any of the players

nope ur wrong ...the players r getting worse by doing these ads .. They know they r getting enough money by these ads so even if they play or not it doesnt make any difference to them..

I do not agree with Srinivas... Dhoni is self obssessed and therefore for adv he did not attend the President Function at Delhi and insulted the whole nation

I really hate dhoni...i dont understand that why he comes n plays at no-3 inspite of having suresh raina in superb form, dhoni came at no-3 in bangladesh match n it looked that india wud have lost the match if yuvraj wud not have come to bat n made 41 of just 18 delieveries
team selection comitee made a big mistake by picking up bhajji ahead of ramesh powar...poware had an excellent seaon 2 of ipl while bhajji was as mediocre as ever..bhajji is a test bowler
Re: who is better.
by Srinivas Mepula on Jun 11, 2009 12:22 PM
Ramesh Powar!!! he gives 30 to 40 runs in his 4 over and might take 1 or 2 wickes, he might also give 20 to 30 runs when he fields :)
Re: who is better.
by Bhasmasur Rakshasa on Jun 11, 2009 03:35 PM
I think Bhajji is a great thelete and bowls tight....Romesh Powar might be better suited for 50 overs ODI and test matches...he is definitely a better offspinner than Bhajji but Bhajji is less likely to go for runs in his 4 overs...Bhajji is more likely to bowl 4 overs for 25 to 30 runs...Powar can go for 40 runs in his 4 overs.....so, i guess Bhajji is better in T20.....
Re: Re: who is better.
by Srinivas Mepula on Jun 11, 2009 05:03 PM
you forget both guys batting and feilding skills!!! bajji scors at least 12 to 17 runs in 5 to 6 balls and Power will give 12 to 17 runs in feilding!!!
Re: Dhoni to open the bowling...
by rkdmumbai on Jun 11, 2009 12:20 PM
No.. you cant put sticker on the ball... therefore no money will come from the sponsor and hence Dhoni will not bowl.
If any team is in good form in this T-20 World Cup it seems to be a Sri Lanka so far. Although Indian team had won the two matches, but were not the convincing victories. But I love Dhoni, because of his skills to take the decisions. He is not afraid of taking the decisions. That's why he is capable of winning the majority of the matches, and also seen the converstion of losing match into win.

I disagree - to me the victories were convincing but maybe not as much as the hype has been built up in our own minds. No one mentioned but I think the Irish were bowling far better and were supported equally well with excellent fielding. Secondly you cannot overlook South Africa coz they kept their nerve to defend a low total thru the last ball and that's what's most important in T20.

O.K. I will stop thinking cricket imemdiately, if you can prove with your logical views, that my views are wrong .
Deewakar suppose the situation when fielders will start to stand outside the boundary line to stop sixes in slog overs. Umpire made a big mistake there.
Re: deewaker pandey
by deewaker pandey on Jun 11, 2009 12:37 PM
tht is nt in rule. fielder did nt went out of the rope intensionally. bt he went in the process of taking the catch.if he had been out of the rope n then jump in air to save the six then it would hv been wrong. he ws inside the rope n while he ws tryin 2 take the catch, he went out so he jumped so tht he could avoid the six. anyway ICC rulemakers cn decide only whether it is wrong or not. we cn gv our view only.for me it ws fine n for u it ws nt. lets ICC decide.
Dhoni says his coming @ no. 3 was experiment and he would not come at 3 throughout the tournament (great news), but I have question to Mr. Ms. Dhoni Is this the stage to do Experiments ? good that both Bangladesh and Ierland were minnows and didn’t matter much if it was against WI, ENGLAND, SA ?
Re: Experiment
by Asim Mehtani on Jun 11, 2009 12:07 PM
Do you think you are more intelligent than Dhoni. He knows very well, what to do, and what not to do ?
Re: Re: Experiment
by Srinivas Mepula on Jun 11, 2009 12:17 PM
Asim INDIA almost lost the match against Bangladesh because of DHONI coming @no.3 and scored just run a ball, it was Yuvi who scored quick runs and saved INDIA from a defeat
Re: Re: Re: Experiment
by Asim Mehtani on Jun 11, 2009 12:24 PM
India might not have reached the winning score if Dhoni should have come afterwards, because he is running out of form presently. The last five overs need big hits, and Yuvraj is the perfect at that place. Therefore, he utilisized his assets very well.

by gudguy on Jun 11, 2009 12:11 PM
you don't have to be intelligent for coming no. 3 or no.8 its commonsense, when you have played and failed in nearly 15 matches (in IPL) why are you doing experiments in world cup ? didn’t had chance in IPL? (you were the Capitan)

Hey you don't have to be intelligent for posting comments here either. That's the beauty of this place.

We should immediately include Mohammad Kaif and Wasim Jaffer in the team and Why not make Zaheer the captain ? What do you think. Akram Khan ( I hope name is right) who played for Rajasthan Royals may also be brought in for R P Singh or Praveen Kumar.
Re: Re: zaheer great
by rkdmumbai on Jun 11, 2009 12:06 PM
