Irfan should now start bowling spin. He will easily adapt to the new role as he already bowlingclose to this pace. He should play and Dhoni can still use him as an opening bowler as most often he puts Yusaf to open bowling 20-20 and ODi's.
I would say not including Irfan in 30 list is really disgusting. He is really a soft target as we have seen in the past where he was called back home in between a series siting bad performance. This has never happened to any Indian cricketer and its a shame. It really shows some one is there in board who doesn't like him for unknown reasons. If performance and current form was the only concern for selectors or Dhoni then so many of the current team members doesn't deserve to be in the team now. A few examples are Rohit Sharma who inspite of being in team and playing for more than a year now doesnt have even a single knock to prove his credentials. He was the first one to be dropped if performance was the issue. He only plays in IPL, but once playing one India doesnt do anything. If u consider talent wise then we all have seen how Jadeja played in world cup and still continue to be in team. Even if look at current form Ishant Sharma is totally out of form and going all over the places. So this proves its all biased and politics are played by selectors and Dhoni himself. Don't know who can save India if all these people around continue to function biased.
Re: Irfan pathan selection issue totally biased

I think you are watching close games of Indian Cricket. Keep it up, you are 100% correct. In case of Rohit Sharma, neither he puts in ODI 2 and above overs nor he scores above 20 runs, but still he is included as all rounder. If you compare between I.Pathan's bowling avg. and batting avg. he is far better in bowling and in case of batsman I.Pathan is 2% ahead then R.Sharma.
Dhoni and Srikkanth work very well together. There was one previous incident where some selector leaked what Dhoni said abt Irfan when he supported RP. Was that the WZone selector?! Anyway, the way Ganguly was given a golden handshake was a perfect plan by Srikkanth supported by Dhoni. If you look at the T20 India selection, it was Dhoni's team. I think Srikkanth is happy to go with Dhoni because ultimately Dhoni takes the responsibility for everything. I personally don't agree with somethings that Dhoni is doing but in the Indian system where Dhoni takes the responsibility, he only should call the shots for team selection.

Sorry so that. every capable indian who deserves to represented sgould be selected. What has dhoni taking responsibility got to do with choosing his own team. The question is simple. Does the present system of selecting players hace acess to all probable deserving candidates and are they properly considered. In my view no and this should change.

I dont think Dhoni has full powers in selecting his own team.In India, not only in sports in every aspect if u want to succeed you must have talent God father, if you have only talent no god father sorry you cannot succeed. A mere clash between Arjun Yadav(S/o Shivlal Yadav) & Ambati Rayudu lead to virtual carrier ending of Rayudu. Then he opted for ICL.This is just one example. There are lot of examples like this one. Who said we do not have talent, budles of them. There is no Cricket academy in the country which encourages talent among poor people from villages. I have seen in Orissa a young pan shop walla of the street bowls superfast & bats superbly in a local tournament. But you know he could not buy his own shoes.

what i find strange is, guys aregue endlessly about a player who does not even find a place in XI. So much has been written and argued abt all the periphery players like Badri, D Karthik, A Nayar, V Kohli, etc. India has quite a few talented players, and only 11 can play. We can never say that A is more talented than B, each has their own strenths and weaknesses and the captain has to have some say in the final decision. Dhoni has his own likes and dislikes. I dont accept some of his choices but I understand.

I agree. But then if you see, all the big comeback players just came in to XI or 15 directly. Look at Dravid; he was not in the previous 30. Having said this, Irfan has let down India by compromising on his pace. He is a yard faster than Kumble!

Rediff has killed itself, with such a JUNK UI , it gotto get the worst and cheapest site ever
Irfan Pathan should have been included in the team as an alrounder. ( I think Dhoni did not want Irfan in the team) Though his bowling was poor, you can see in other countries allrounders are being included not only on the basis of their bowling. Look at Darren Sammy or Bravo they are not outstanding bowlers they and bravo was got very good slow ball. But he also concedes runs. Irfan has performed well in Australia even got Man of the Match in the Perth test which India won. But yes there is regional bias in selection. I still could not believe how Virat Kohli was not there in the team for West Indies and M.Vijay and Badrinath get into the team. So I think Srikkanth pushing Tamilian players in the team. So bias and politics are there in the selection process.

I have not seen a player who has proved more than what Badri has done. Get your facts right before trying to say things like what you have said.

Yes you are right, i agree with u Badrinath was always neglected. He was never given proper chance. Even if he was selected was not included in the playing XI. But I think Virat Kohli should have been selected in place of M.Vijay.

Vijay is a opener. he was superceded by Dinesh Karthik (a non opener in ODI) who did well in WI. Vijay did quite OK in the only test he was offered out of blue.
