Dusra is surely chucking
by suvojit basu on Aug 18, 2009 03:03 PM

"Former off-spinner Mallett says the delivery can never be legitimate as it cannot be bowled by a finger-spinner without 'chucking'"

I totally agree to him that it can not be bolwed without chucking.
What I feel like shane warne , that either u chuck or u dont chuck. There is nothing between them like the icc has introduced some absurd rule like 15 degree or like that. The rule is totally illegal or funny u can say.It is introduced just because the ICC is totally depended over the indian board , and they are drived by the same.
Just because of this they have created this rule so that some players like harbhajan, murli, shoiab can play the game.
I am an indian , despite that i am saying harbhajan is a chucker, and he should not be allowed to play the game.Like many players is playing illegally when they should have been banned.See other than these subcontinent, there are more players who play the games legally and traditionally can be found all around. And i tell u these funny rules only going to ruin the game.More young players emerging learing how to chuck and not how to ball properly.this should be stopped immediately.AND ICC please stop oiling indian board, AND Indian board please focus on the right side of the game ie infrastructure , emerging players, Coaching camp etc what u should do and not influence ICC.

Thanks.

Doosra a good invention
by Sunder on Jul 30, 2009 10:04 AM

Having studied legspin and offspin well by the batsmen around the world, it is a necessary move my spinners to keep inventing new deliveries to take wickets, so Doosra is just one of that, More may come.

DEFINITION
by ram on Jul 29, 2009 10:15 AM  | Hide replies

definition of DOOSRA
doosra is chucking 4 opposite teams of india, stronger teams (infact it is not only doosra but all types of bowling)
doosra is not chucking 4 india and and weaker teams. ( infact it is not only doosra but also chucking too is not chucking)
ESPECIALY FOR AUSTRALIA ALL TYPES OF BOWLING IS CHUCKING, NON SPORTSMENSHIP. BOT FOR US EVEN SLAPING OUR OWN TEAMMATES IS APPRECIABLE WHAT A SPORTSMENSHIP GREAT GREAT!

Rediff has described it wrong.....
by nischal maniar on Jul 29, 2009 12:03 AM

The just changing the wrist position doesnt make the the delievery illegal. When you try to bowl the doosra from back of the hand, it doesnt have that pace to reach the batsman, and hence additional help is requried by the bowling arm thats when "Straightening of the arm " comes into picture and thats ILLEGAL.

It is a fact.
by Manu Zach on Jul 28, 2009 03:46 PM  | Hide replies

The 'Doosra' debate is the result of some idiotic interferences by the financially strong Asian member boards of the ICC. The cricket laws till recently stated that the bowler's arm should not be in any way bent during the arm-swing while delivering the ball. Then came the controversies related to the 'Perennial Chucker' Muralidaran, Saqlain Mushtaq, Harbhajan Singh, Johan Botha and recently Saeed Ajmal. Then came the amendment in the laws allowing 15 degrees of flexion, specifically to allow the likes of Murali and Harbhajan to play on.
Those who criticize the Aussies for being cry-babies should realize that, none of the above mentioned bowlers except Harbhajan on only a couple of occasions have troubled the Australians on the cricket field.
When Brett Lee was pulled up for a suspect action, the Aussie was put through a series of corrective measures, and at present he along with Shane Bond, Shaun Tait and Dale Steyn are the only express pace bowlers with the cleanest of actions.
This is not the case with Murali, Harbhajan, Botha and Ajmal. Their arms are bend when they bowl the doosra. YOU MUST HAVE NOTICED ONE THING. ALL THE CHUCKERS MENTIONED ABOVE WEAR LONG SLEEVES WHILE BOWLING. IT IS A CHUCKER'S WAY TO HIDE THE BEND ARM.

you are correct. Totally agree. Murali chucks - no questions. Intentionally or not, but the elbow is not straight. Just because of the Asian Boards, ICC changed the rule to allow 15 degree, which is BS

I think you need to check what you are watching and what you are saying. How often have you noticed Murali wearing long sleeves. Not saying that doosra is legal.. just coz you and some " " are in fact scared at the prospect of murali you have no right to say all he does is chuck.

Murali has always been a chucker and the same goes to Akthar. If he has deformity and and he gets undue advantage due to that ..he shd be playing the handicapped game rather.
All these happened due to the lobbying ability of our Jagmohan Dalmiya.

Doosra is not the issue the bowler is...
by Praful Venugopal on Jul 28, 2009 03:41 PM  | Hide replies

How come Saqlain never got called or never had any complaint for the doosra against him in his entire career. Has anyone wondered? Because he was the only bowler in the world who could deliver the doosra without straightening the elbow at the point of delivery. After all he invented it. Every other copy cat chucks the doosra including Murali, Harbhajan, Ajmal, Malik...Bhajji, especially after he was called early on in his career started swivelling his chest to face the bowler so as to make the chuck look minimal.

True ... and one more fact is .. saqlain never bowled doosra ... he always bowled the straighter one that never spun or spun the other way with the help of cracks on the pitch. But he never used his wrists to bowl doosra, he just changed his direction of his fingers while bowling the offspin
