Without self-respect-the man from Kolkata
by vsgiri on Jul 26, 2009 06:17 PM  | Hide replies

Dada was a regular in the team during his very bad form since he was close to the then President Dalmia. Later when he was dropped, he was forced into the team by Left politicians who made a rouse up of a petty matter in the parliament ( History). He was asked to write against Dalmia by Pawar which he obliged and was included into the team. He never came back with a bang. He was playing ordinarily and took 18 test innings to score his first hundred after return. Laxman and Dravid were always superior to him. In the second episode, he was dropped by Vengsarkar but he requested the present chairman of selectors , Srikanth and went away but too reluctuntly. Even the other day KKR captain McCullum faced the same problem what Dravid faced when this fellow was inducted back into the team. He was a good player but there are more negatives in his approach to the game than his performance.

Why are you so obsessed with blaming ganguly for everything? and why exactly does regionalism come into sports? such narrow mindsets!

ganguly should have retired gracefully
by Guest on Jul 26, 2009 10:29 AM  | Hide replies

I do not know why there is so much discussion on an mediocre cricketer like ganguly; we all know most of his spporters are from particular region and even if he turns 100yrs, they keep calling him to play cricket; what a disgrace that he compares himself with Sachin and Dravid, the best possible cricketers the game has seen in the last 20 odd years.

Ganguly has already retired gracefully in October 2008. Perhaps the only Indian cricketer to retire "gracefully" since Gavaskar in 1987.

He was given a graceful retirement by BCCI. Otherwise he was on verge of being thrown out of the team, forever.

please my dear all please try to understand the cricket. no body can compare with another. every cricketer has their own talent, skill, style what ever u can say. If any one want to consider a player about his performance please see the strike rate, everage, total run, total century, etc. That will indicate how he is.Now a days some people leaving coments like ignorent person as Gangully made run against only weak team.
he had played politics rather than cricket.so n so. every body has their own favour player that will not match other defenately.Especially who is not playing at present people forgot his perfomnance, and doesnot bother to write a bad comts. Please apriciate his talent because we proud of him as India.

Sachin's sickness,lay off &Holidays/BCCI responsible to answ
by km vb on Jul 26, 2009 10:03 AM  | Hide replies

Ganguly never became sick & lay off as Sachin used to.Saurav must be referring to Sachin's absence and getting automatic selection for any format of cricket.

BCCI is responsible to answer to public,media,ex-cricketers,Ex-players,commentators ?

Yes You are right. We may despise Australians, but there are many things worth enulating.

> Warne was banned for about 1 year. After his ban period was completed, he was asked by CA to first play domestic cricket, prove he is better than other spinner , and then he would be selected for Nationa duty.

> In India, Sachin used togo for long absence due to elbow injury and hamstring, but after declaring himself fir, he always got selected directly to Indian team ( and , rightly used to fail in first 2-3 matches, harming team's interest).

What is there to be apologetic about?? I guess Ganguly does not need some Rajiv Shukla to tell him what is right and what is wrong...has Shukla ever played cricket??

Its high time for true cricket lover to find guilty media / bcci personnel for embarrassing renouned players. Similar parasites already spoiled our excellent hokey team and worked hard to stop us from any other sports at internation level. Now they are eager to spoil cricket too.

We should through shoes to them at their public appearence in future.
