Protect Tests
by ganessin virappin on Jul 24, 2009 06:41 PM

ICC is talking very loudly about the survival of tests. Alreadys players starting taking early retirements eg. Flintoff, Gilchrist, Symonds, Gayle(soon), etc. Talks by ICC panel is not going to change anything. Implement some measures to protect Tests. In the long term we can see many countries(> 30)playing T20 and few countries (8) playing Test matches. Also there are more money involved in the T20 tournaments. ICC has to implement some measures like increasing over-rates, having result oriented pitches, Test tournament, etc to protect tests. What is the use if Test cricket survives with good players opting for T20 instead of Tests? It is hard to see players taking retirement from T20 and ODI to prolong Test career. Everyone will talk for Tests when they have no choice. When there is a choice they will go for T20. Already there are lot of Test matches happening in empty stadiums. I have seen so many Tests in India with almost full capacity in the past. But recently this trend had changed. It is not the question of which version of cricket is having quality. It is the question of which version can bring more sponsors and audience. Future is looking bleak for Tests unless otherwise some radical measures taken by ICC to protect Tests immediately.

by vinay on Jul 24, 2009 12:53 AM

when odi were introduced first in ckt. even then, ppl started thinking of death of test ckt in view of emergence of odi ckt. but test ckt still survived. again the same question arose abt test ckt with emergence of t20.

Dravid Back
by Nagraj Acharya on Jul 23, 2009 07:22 PM

See some positive side in ondayers Dravid also has a world record in 21 balls 50 runs against Newzealand in hyderabad. This record was 20 years in Kapil's name against WestIndees,Agarkar broke this record against zimbabwe then Sehwag against B'deash,so dont'degrade any Cricketer.Under Tendulker's captain highest run getter in world cup, You can see Dravid in National song Suraginiyise sajaa Bharat& Olimpycs light took by Dravid,Arjuna award also had, do you think our Govt. is mad to call him? because of the quality & self decipline,Gangully, Tendulker,Laxman,Dravid these are the stars of the cricket till today people love seethem on ground.

by Aman Sawant on Jul 23, 2009 06:13 PM  | Hide replies

Rahul back for champions Trophy and will become captain again in 6 months time, i'am 100 percetn sure about it!
You can never keep a great player out of team, and dravid has proved it!
There are some ignorant people like Abhi and Priyadarshan who are jealous of Dravid because they are Bengalis.
Guys, don't be fooled, Abhi and Priyadarshan are Bengalis who have interest in insulting Dravid, don't take them seriously at all!

haha i am from UP
this shows the ill regionalism mentality in A MARATHI

IST U ANSWER THIS QUESTION?
if dravid comes out to be a selfish politician who along chappel tried to finish his own teammates career
who once he himslef labled GOD OF OFF SIDE
ganguly supported dravid and kept him in odis as wk
otherwise dravid would have been kicked ot form odis in 2000 only

now u say is dravid not a politician?

We all know that from the beginning that Bengali es are always ahead in wisdom and it has been proved for several years and need not to be prove in future. However now it is to see that how the truth of the speech of such intelligent and talented Bengali fellow will be implemented in future. Great speech, great philosophy, great action.
