I have travelled extensively in India. Wonderful people...but not so wonderful cities.
Bangalore is the one city in INdia where people are very nice, and they believe in work hard and play hard...nice pubs, bars, entertainment avenues, parks, sports grounds all over the city, cosmopolitan outlook and trendy youngsters. Everyone is comfortable speaking in English.
Kochi is another place that I find extremely nice...it has very good hotels and restaurants, and since I invest a lot in the hospitality industry worldwide, it really left me impressed to know that Kochi has the maximum number of 5 star hotels in INdia (when you include the under construction hotels). The best sea food in India is in Kochi. Again lots of colleges in and around Kochi, people are comfortable about English, very clean, honest folks. The one place in Inida where I see ZERO corruption!! In fact, the mere suggestion of corruption/bride invites angry stares from the person you try to bribe. I once bought an airticket at a counter in the Kochi airport, and did not realize that I had left behind a few 100 rupee bills, and in a hurry turned around to rush to catch my flight. The guy at the counter felt that I may have tried to bribe him. He immediately called me back aloud,"Sir, DONT leave your money here." I was shocked by the stern tone of his voice. A friend explained that travellers from abroad attimes leave tips becoz of the efficient service here, but Kochi ppl r offended about receiving 'bribes'
