Fast Bowling not for Bulky
by Gandhi on Jul 24, 2009 09:15 AM

Anyone over 6.4 high and bowling fast needs to stay lean and fit to keep injuries away. Big fellows are more prone to catch nausty injuries.
Jacob Oram, Flintoff, Andre Nel are always breaking down

Injury to cricketers
by Vaidhy Narayanan on Jul 23, 2009 08:29 AM  | Hide replies

I've always wondered why serious injuries to cricketers happen mostly to English, Indian and Pakistani cricketers only.

Well i'm not saying cricketers from other nations are always fit but players from these nations tend to be more injury prone. Is it because of casual and cocky attitude supported by national behaviour or real physical fitness related issues?
We've not seen many Aussie/ SA/ WI or Sri lankan cricketers getting injured for a long time.

You may be right partially, Our cricketers are not really sports fit. But I marvel at the stats that Ganguli and Laxman never had a serious injury and in comparison Tandulkar, Zaheer, Harbajan, Ishant, who I would say are fitter , younger and better atheletes.
At first Bowling is a very bad physical exersice, you would find more bowlers suffering injuries than batsman. Tendulkar used to bowl a lot in nets and got into injury zone.
Injury list Sri Lanka -- Murli, Vaas, Fernando, Malinga, Mahroof
Injury List England -- Flintoff, Hamirson, Anderson, Peterson, Jones, Vaughen,
Injury List Aussie -- Brett Lee, Shane Watson, Michal Clark, Siddle
SA List -- Graham Smith, Andre Nel, M Morkal, Gibbs, Nitini

Poor Doctor !!!!
by Vishwas Joshi on Jul 23, 2009 04:43 AM

This doctor is looking for cheap publicity with commenting on Flintoff when he is in hot seat specially after the second test at lords. Poor Doctor - Who knows what disease the doctor himself will have after 20 years? FLintoff might be even not living with his boozing habbits.

Nobody can understand the pain of a sportsman who still has skill/talent but the body can not cope with. A bowler like Flintoff is a pleasure to just watch and I can only empathize with him. Cricketers like Nehra and Balaji, with injuries only natural to fast bowlers, are riding the time bomb too. Zaheer Khan has some how been lucky with injuries or he has done a good job with fitness.

I started playing cricket again after a very long time, started off with a bang, taking 5,6 wickets in each game I played. Then came the ankle injury and I'm off for the past several months. I know. I go around every where with a cricket ball in my hand, just to be in that feel :-)

me too Mr.Seenu,
I used to clock 140 consistent and after a RIB injury while bowling(happened by forcing more force to end the match last 3 balls to save 4 runs) i did as the batsman missed all the deliveries but after that , the pain of cant play is more than pain of playing,
Actually untill bowling action no problem while release it pains and make u feel blind.
only players know the pain of not playing .. they kill them just to win and be a hero..

indian fast bowlers are obselete
by Nayak on Jul 22, 2009 11:55 PM  | Hide replies

Flintoff, with his broken knee can take 5 wickets and win the matches for England.

Well, our highly rated and flamboyant fast bowlers can’t even take more than 3 wickets with perfect knee and millions of rupees in bank account.
