Ricky Ponting sucks as a captain.
Mohm Azharuddin was better as a match fixer.

Rest of them are fine.

Every country had at least one good captain. For India, Ganguly deserves to be there, but Kapil should also be there rather than Azhar. Many people do not give the deserving credit to Kapil. India who had lost to all Test Playing nations and even to SL till 1979 were turned into a world champion by 1983. During 1983-87 India had many good performances. First overseas Test series win after 1971 came in 1986 and also Aus escaped with a drawn series in Aus, thanks to their home umpires. Kapil lost captaincy after loss in 1987 World Cup semis. His overall positive approach was impressive and made India a strong team in ODIs. For Aus, Ian Chappel and Mark Taylor are always better captains than Ponting. For Eng, Mike Brearley was an outstanding captain, none else in recent past.

Ganguly is a looser he is totally overrated.

Dhoni wich his results over last 3 years as achieved more as a captain than ganuly ever did. Also Dhoni's win loss record is much better than ganguly.

captain doen't have more than 5% role in cricket win. Matches are won by great players & match winners.Same captain ponting start lossing once he lost his great match winning players. in past ponting had record of winning 16 consecutive test matches. Dada & dhobi are simply overhyped for nothing though i admit dhobi is bigger politicain than dada.Dada was better batsman than dhobi on indian wickets. On seaming pitches, both can't play.Dhobi is a good manipulator.

sachin - the best ever
by Vishwanathan Anand on Jul 19, 2009 11:51 AM  | Hide replies

I dont know what do channels get in bashing sachin, yesterday for no reason star news started the debate of greatness again. "kya sachin don aur lara ki league me hai?" etc. These guys get up and start bashing him without realizing his greatness and without taking help of figures, they dont even look at the differance of 50 yrs. betn. sachin and DON.
I feel we we all shouldnt miss watching sachin live(may be only 100 innings left left. Guys – tomorrow you’ll tell ur children that you had seen him playing live - hitting a straight drive or playing paddle sweep.

Anyway for ur records check these facts –
In tests he is always compared with the greatest ever – Sir Don – but Sir Don himslef (like “Sir”Lara, Hayden, Warne etc.) said that Sachin was the best he had ever seen.
Sachin has scored 11782 in tests, with 35 centuries – these were scored on more than 50 test venues against bradman`s 8. For almost twenty years this guy is travelling, taking pressure of expectation, has kept himself on that level and is still as dedcated, motivated and sincere as he was in 1989.
Now add 16361 ODI runs, 154 ODI wickets and 42 test wickets to this - something which bradman doesn’t have against his name – infact nobody in world has to his credit today.
Sachin today holds all the important batting records such as the leading Test century scorer, leading ODI century and half-century scorer, one of only three batsmen to surpass 11,000 runs in test cricket, most career ODI runs etc.

If you look at him in totality - talent, skill, dedication, hardwork, sincerety, brilliance and modesty - as a sportsman he is in the league of Mohd. Ali, Rod Lever, Martina and PELE

I will also add he has maximum no. of MOM records in international cricket. it clearly siggests that he has won maximum no. of matches for his team in last two decades. Best part is he gives 100% under any captaincy & he doesn't behave like politician ganguly or dhobi who start behaving strangely in other captaincy.

So let me get back to one wonky comment I had posted about a year back, "Sachin, he no know to bat, he no know to bowl, he no know to field, why he in team?" The comment had brought brickbats from quite a few dense
posters, who could not see the sarcasm.

same will happen with Indian test team once greats like sachin, dravid, laxman, sehwag etc retire. Cricket match is won only by great players & not by captaincy.Australia is clear example of that. Under ponting captaincy they had record of 16 consecutiuve test wins but now they are not winning under same captainct as all match winner players have retired. Peope in India shold rallized that how overhyped is dada & dhobi captaincy for nothing while actual math winner was always sachin, david, laxman, sehwag, kumble, bhajji, zaheer ec.
