by ashish on Jul 16, 2009 01:28 AM  | Hide replies

Naseer is been embarrasment himself with his louder mouth then his thoughts. He has been considered one of the worst Cricket commentator by British media anyway.

Whatever England did is nothing compare to what Ponting and his roudy players are doing for years..

So, why Ponting cribbing over that 3 minute issue :)

Ponting the Great
by s kumar on Jul 15, 2009 02:34 PM  | Hide replies

Ponting is great player and captain. He likes only win which is necessary to be at no.1 position for long time.He helped australia to win world cup victory and many more. We Indian are really pathetic criticising Ponting.Only One world cup T20 had made superpower in 2007 and in 2009 we could not even reach super8. This is what we are. Any sport should be played like a war like football, hokey to be no 1.

Criticising Ponting - what u mean by we Indians, everyone is criticising him. Also, they are voicing their opinion so whats the big fuss.
Also, as per an Ex Australian cricketer Ponting is the worst captain.

if one wicket does not make any difference then the 3-4 minutes lost also is not a big thing.
As per you Australia were incapable of getting the Englishmen out in 5 days, yes, of course u can take that 3-4 minutes out.

Whether it was Nasser,Ricky,SteveWaugh,Sunil Gavaskar,Ganguly or many like them, they all have resorted to tactics to deny the opposition a victory, within the frame work of the rules of ICC>.
Today when most of them have retired and become commentators and with hind sight as a tool they observe what is right or wrong!!!
Remember when GR Vishy as a captain called back Taylor of England at Bombay, who was notout, and lost or drew the match.
The Queastion is whether SMG would have done what GRV did,or Nasser and others would have done under similar circumstances ,??????
Attitude of Pontimng holier than though is misplaced since every body knows about his attitude atleast those people like me who has followed cricket since 1958.

And all of them are still sticking to their guns ....

Nasser too wholeheartedly supports "professionally" going about the task of wasting time to save the match....

His comments were about how "village-green" the English team looked when they wasted time in the fashion they eventually did....

As for attitude of Ponting, you are right.... he doesn't have to sound so hurt about the whole episode; especially in light of his admission of the failure of his own bowlers to remove the last pair....

'England's time-wasting tactics were amateur and embarrassing'
by Anand YNI on Jul 15, 2009 02:13 PM  | Hide replies

Somewhere around the mid sixties, there was a test match between India and Australia. it was the last day of the match. Australia were left with a couple of wickets only but India had plenty of time to bowl the remaining players. That was the time Bill Lawry played the famous Pad game. He padded literally every ball and kept wasting time. Had he been out, the victory my a huge margin would have been only a formality.

Aussies try to teach about Ethics, morals and time wasting tactics to others. As rightly said by Fletcher there are the worst players in the world yesterday, today and tomorrow.

BTW, does anyone remember the year in which the test was played and the scores?
