Calling Flintoff second hand car is an insult to a great player like him. Mike Atherton need to be very careful in his words. If Flintoff is not fit, England is not going to play him in matches. But when he is fit he will be match winner. Atherton should learn to respect other players.

Sorry, Atherton is right.Flintoff is no longer the player he was.Sure he can bowl a few great spells, but can only take 1 or 2 wickets, not run through the side.Fact is, England won the 2005 Ashes because
1. McGrath was injured and could not play a major role after the 1st Test. 2.All the Aussie fast bowlers lost form at about the same time. 3.England put up the best bowling attack in years.
The current English attack is nowhere.Anderson alone looks OK, Flintoff has limited utility,Broad is not Test class,Swann is now-good now-bad,Panesar is bowling consistently badly.Australia was unlucky to lose the last session of play on th 4th day.4 or 5 wickets down on 5th day morning would have been tougher than 2 down for England to save the match.However, Australia should also look at the fact, that they were not able to dismantle England's lower order in both innings, which also denied them victory.If Hussey comes back to form, England have a mountain to climb for the rest of the series.Right now they don't look like it.

mcgaths injury is not flintoffs problem . aussie bowler lost form is not flintoffs problem.
england won the 2005 series becoz they played well as a team.
if they have to win 2009 series,erase the past failure and guys like bopara,bell ,collingwood have to come good. if they play well as a unit and each and evry individual contributes better than what they can do ,sure england can bounce back.

ECB needs to look into other allrounders. Collingwood can bowl to some extent. Bopara can also bowl. They need to be brought up to speed like Freddie. He's not the same as 4 yrs back when they won the ashes. Our man SRT is far far better, thought I hate to compare players.

Himan go and lick your goora boot...how can you compare our great master blaster with that looser Flintoff...our master blaster is a perfect team man the best example is he will run for the second or third run for his partner same as his own...

Sorry.Tendulkar is no longer young,but he is playing exceptional cricket.Earlier he was a master artist, now he is a master craftsman.His impact on the team is still huge.So what if he misses some ODI's.With his record, he has earned it.
Players like Flintoff and Shoiab Akhtar are always a liability to their teams. The teams cannot plan their strategies based on these players, as they play 1 or 2 matches and then go off to cool their heels with injuries for next 10-12 matches.

flintoff main prb is injury whre as shoab is hv prb wid injury as well as decipline. symonds is also hvin prb wid decipline. if flintoff is fit, he cn b good asset for team bt unfortunately he is among unfit player in world cricket.i could nt see him playing the whole series since last few years.eng must be habitual of it now. so if he wll nt b there in 2nd test then eng will manage, i feels.
England needs Flintoff without whom the team has as much backbone as a worm - Freddie brings attitude and that's what England needs when they go up against a team such as Atustralia, with such a fantastic record over the last 20-25 years a team with Ricky at the helm. Need somebody to give it back to them and other than Freddie and KP there is no one else. Also he does it bit - grabs a couple of wickets, hits 30-40 runs. So slow down on writing off Fredde and what he brings to the middle

Yeah, happy to be crawling somewhere at the bottom of the league - Freddy was the architect of Ashes win in 2005, so leave the fish and bicycle back at home but without Freddie England is as lost as a f@rt on a windy night!
