Ponting contrived to lose a winning match
by Orient Mystique on Jul 13, 2009 05:02 PM  | Hide replies

Yes.

After England were 6 wickets down with Flintoff gone, Ponting became routine with his bowling changes. North and Hauritz and Johnson and Siddle were asked to bowl mechanically thinking that England batsmen will be VOLUNTARILY out.

Ponting didn't appear to be keen to force a win. Any other captain would have made sure not to allow the likes of Collingwood, Broad and Swaan to hang around for as long as they did and did comfortably at that.

Why didn't Ponting give a few overs to Katich or Clarke or Hussey sometime in the post-lunch session to lure the batsmen into mistakes against such part timers?

Yes,you are right. He has no reasons to blame the English tailenders .Further, Pointing has no right to talk about grace or disgrace of cricker. The whole world have watched them play including the underarm episode. Suni ,Vadodara

If Katich, clark or Hussey would be hammered for a few runs people like you would come out to say why the hell did Ponting give overs to part timers when the y have specialists to do the job. Sometimes things just dont work. Its as simple as that.

Murtaza Moronwala,People like you dont understand that Ponting had nothing to lose if Katich, Clarke or Hussey or even Ponting himself got hammered. It wasn't a one day game and England had no way to win this game. The point is that when the regulars were struggling to get the job done,he had nothing to lose by trying out the part timers, specially when Clarke has a knack of getting wickets in such situations.

test cricket has lost all its charm.
it is only because of the ashes that peopleare watching this series.
other than ashes series no other test series in interesting.
i also think that now a days cricket is too much going on so maybe people started to dislike cricket particularly test match cricket.

AND LAST QUALITY OF PITCH AND BOWLING ARE MAKING TEST CRICKET BORING EVEN ONEDAY,,BECAUSE I AS ATEST CRICKET FANATACY FROM MY CHILDHOOD ALWAYS LIKE BOWLERS DOMINATING MATCHES BECAUSE IF U PICK UP HISTORY ALL THE LOW SCORING MATCHES HAVE THRILLER, EXCEPT SOME, IU LIKE WHEN BALL GOES THROGH BATSMAN CHIN, I LIKE BOUNCER AND THE BATSMAN WHO PLAYS THAT CHIN MUSIC I ADMIRE, CHIN MUSIC DOES NOT MEANS IN FLAT AND SLOW PITCHES WHERE BATSMAN HAS ENOUGH TIME TO GO FORWARD BACKWARD OR TO PLAY FROM THE PICH, I DONT REMEMBER KNOW THAT THERE ARE ANY GENUE FAST PITCH NOWDAYS, EVEN AUSTRLIA PITCHES HAS BECOME SLOW

Test cricket is a fantastic and fabulous game. The real gentleman's game and can be enjoyed if played between competent teams at the right venue with a sporting pitch. The best sporting pitches for test matches are available only in England and some in Australia like Melbourne & Adelaide. Other grounds in NZ, India, Pak & WI are either tailor made for bowlers or batsmen of spin bowlers as found in SL.

In England the grounds are really sporting with all talented players can bring out their best.

As for the test matches, sometimes the matches can make you so chilled that every ball can be termed as missiles, as was seen here couple of days ago. There are times, just one one ball or one catch can change the entire complexion of the game.

In my opinion and also an arid test cricket follower for the last 30 years, I find test cricket is the best form of cricket.

You can recall from history the test matches of Ind Vs Aus 1986 (tied) and WI Vs Aus (tied) and the historical Ind Vs Aus in 2001.

Sachin is the most reliable batsman
by Anurag Rathore on Jul 13, 2009 04:26 PM  | Hide replies

When it comes to batting for life, Sachin Tendulkar is the choice for most of the Kiwi cricketers, who rate the Indian batting maestro as the most accomplished player of his generation.

New Zealand's 'Herald on Sunday' newspaper asked a few former cricketers who was the best batsman in the world and whom they would like to bat for their life?

Replying to the questions, former Kiwi Test players John Morrison and Dipak Patel picked the Indian batting ace and were all admiration for his exploits all around the world in different conditions and various match situations.

Gentleman's game...
by sdfgdfsgdfg dfgdfgsdfg on Jul 13, 2009 04:15 PM

There is and will never b a substitute to the original form of this game.
Those who r talkin to reduce a Test to a 4 day affair, r unnecessarily panicking.
Connosiers of the game wud always put Test format over other formats which r married with commercialisation and peppy full with music and gyrations.
Test Match is clean, is the real Cricket, is the gentleman's game....
